It looks ok, mine is silicon grease also, but much thinner, and very transparent. This silicon gel looks tick, perfect for lubing the O ring and thread. Which ACE shop you bought it? How much is it, mind to help me buy one? I rarely goto ACE.
*
Ace Mid Valley, saw this too in Ace IOI Mall too....RM69.90

probably you might want try it out first before you buy it, i can give you some during the meet up/ gathering...

no problem for buying it for you as ACE is one of my favourite hardware store...i like tools too...lol

The Toyo grease is not thick. It's lower viscosity than Ace H/W own 90% pure silicone grease. biggrin.gif It gives the same texture feels as the Danco silicone grease.
yup... that container will definitely last you a looooooooooooonng time. sweat.gif

Oh, really, I am looking for thick silicon grease, because after you apply the grease, and use it for sometimes, it become so watery, I like the grease comes with Aurora P7, it was really thick and stays after long use, so you mean the ACE own branded silicon grease is better? hmm.gif

old newspaper, you did notice ACE has the silicon grease when you bought TOYO silicon grease.

thanks for the feedback....i really couldn't find the ACE own 90% pure silicone grease... Toyo is the only gel based i can find there...

so is this Toyo safe for thread and o-ring?

wait a minute, Ace's silicon only 90% silicon...what about the another 10%? laugh.gif

Added on October 7, 2009, 3:47 pmEr, can't advice much on this one, the 'intestines' are twisted inside the cover usually. Just 2 suggestion (at your own risk tongue.gif):
1) You might wanna slit off the cover fully, twist the intestines, shove it inside and sew the cover together or
2) use a tweezer and shove it all inside, the sew them. biggrin.gif
Well, you might end up with a bulge.. sweat.gif

QUOTE(RookieDaddy @ Oct 7 2009, 03:57 PM)
You will need to open the cord-end, possibly cut a little bit of opening, and then pull the inner strands. The tweezer will comes in handy for this.

Tried the 2nd method...and couldnt work...the inner part jst down wanna go in..

So i guess gonna try on the 1st method then... sad.gif

there were some debate on using petroleum jelly saying that it'll spoil the o-ring but since u've been using it for 10 years then should be ok. smile.gif

Yes. But I never try to submerge the flashlight in a pool to test for watertighness but ordinary rain spalsh no problem.

Through my eyes inspection, the rubber o-ring didn't harden.

I did bought a can of silicon lube for my folding knives but can't remember the brand and it hardened after several weeks and make my folders not that smooth to open. Luckily didn't use it to my flashlight. However manage to clean the knives and re-lubricate with other lube.

I've not been using ACE-branded silicone grease for some time now. If you like the thick feeling and firm turning, then I think you will find this ACE silicone grease to your liking. I'm currently using Danco and McNett AquaSeal in some of my lights.
Safe? Haha... there are just too many opinions and/or feedback you can get on this. There is a recent Comprehensive Grease and Lube Thread in cpf started by Tekno_Cowboy.
There are other chemical compositions in all type of grease, even when one claims 100% pure silicone grease. You can get more information by searching for their respective MSDS.
I believe you can still get the ACE silicone grease at Ikano Power Centre, at the plumbing section. You will also find some Danco grease in the same section. You can find Toyo grease along with Permatex dielectric grease and CRC dielectric grease at the lubricating oil (car) section. smile.gif

yup... despite what some has raise concerns to using petroleum jelly -- Vaseline, many has swear by it. So far, I've not had any case of damage o-ring by using Vaseline, I'm using it on the head thread and orings of my Olight T10 and T15. The twist action is silky smooth. thumbup.gif You can get a small container for ~RM4 from most pharmacies, try it and if you don't like it, it can be easily wipe away.
So far, there is no single "best" lube, as long as you lube it, it's still better than none.

Btw, do y'all know that Philightsophy also carry EagleTac branded silicone grease? It's pretty good. The viscosity is similar to that of the Toyo. brows.gif

hmm.gif I had a few cases of the inner strands came out, pulling the inner strand from the cord ends works, (not shoving it). well, when all else fail, replace the paracord and use those rock climbing cord. biggrin.gif

Hey guys,

I'm proposing two gathering dates and need ur feedback. *EDIT: Choose one date, but both also can if you guys want smile.gif

A) 15th Oct 2009 - Thursday - 8.30pm @ MCD Taman Equine > Park nearby.

B) 24th Oct 2009 - Saturday - 8.30pm @ MCD Taman Equine > Park nearby. (CONFIRMED LOCATION)
Address for MCD @ Tmn Equine: Jalan Putra Permai 2, Taman Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, Selangor 43300.

Below are the map for the McD
Map McD Tmn Equine, Seri Kembangan
Satelit View

If you have a GPS, the coordinates are:
N 02*59.747'
E 101*40.221'

Alternate location can be at Centerpoint BU - Mamak or MCD > KD Trail.

More suggested location?

I felt that the KD Trail was something we can venture our flashlights more, although having it in Serdang can be convenient for the Serdang flashaholics wink.gif I don't mind either one. More important is that we can get to meet each other.

There are also quite a number of us here in PJ perhaps a transport arrangement can be done. I live in Puchong btw. I can provide transport for that area.

Outstanding things in this gathering:
- Modding/Repair stuff to be passed to Susuman
- Seraph flashlight showcase - Xenon and LED
- Other flashlights showcase (Some of you haven't feel the TK40 and TA21, so I'll bring mine to play around)
- I have to collect some AAA eneloops from Strinq
- Possible B/S/T? hehe whistling.gif
- Continued discussion about making our own LYN Flashlight
- etc.

Susuman, because of the moddings/repairs, I was just thinking that we can all meet up at MCD Tmn Equine first, and then probably head to your home. We can continue our discussions there and head to the park later biggrin.gif Just a suggestion though. If you need a few days with it, then it's fine.

So, who's on?

EDIT: Those who are coming, perhaps can mention which flashlight you wanna check it out, so the owner can include in the list. I doubt that we are gonna bring our entire collection, some of us though, the car can't fit tongue.gif

I did a quick google but didn't manage to get a proper spec yet. Is it gel based or like spray based? Gel based is better for the o-rings, it'll last longer. Spray based will have faster evaporation. After a few turns, the o-rings can dry up. Also read the instructions if it's safe on rubber and such. (Although o-rings are not entirely made of rubber). Silicone/Teflon grease should be generally safe.

65lm seems to be a balance I guess. I find the LD10 9lm is already bright enuf with night adapted eyes, being indoors.

Btw, found this cool beamshot review: LED Lenser P5 beamshots. I am surprised with the flood and spot focus, the beam is so clean! Check it out!
Hi Sthon, do include your sale thread link and blog in your signature. That way new people can see what you're selling smile.gif

i want more neodymium magnets!

currently only have 2, one used on the p100a2 on top, another for the Wee. the one carrying the keys are normal magnets stacked on top of each other for extra oomph, but even so, it can't hold the weight of the p100a2 like the neodymium would sweat.gif

so, any idea who sells neodymium magnets?

DAViS sells 1cm x 0.5cm for rm7 or rm9 per piece doh.gif

Wah, you guys really have all the powerful lights. As for the magnets, they can be harvested from konked or un-used hdisks that you may have laying around.
