Now we need a manufacturer (like eagletac) who'll push the LED.
Yea, let's wait if there's new products from them, hahaBtw, anything up tonight?

Yeos! had a good short time as well
I feel like we should go KD Trail next weekend Btw, I'm concern about the XPG LEDs' tint though, although it's brighter but does appear a little greenish? The MCE tint generally has a better render on its cool white. Perhaps the Maelstrom MCE is a better choice? Just thinking.. |

QUOTE(polkiuj @ Nov 29 2009, 12:26 AM) ... Hrm, I was thinking what will be the diff with the Turbo & Maelstrom XPG too. Maybe just a little over the max like 1.2A or something, since it has a bigger head for heatsinking. And that the deep reflector is the key to 500 OTF lumens? haha. It's not really "better" but serves a different purpose. Now I'm wondering how's the Mealstrom is different from the Turbo. My guess is that it is driven harder!! Woot woot!! ... I'm guessing over 600 lumens for the MC-E. It is 18650 after all. 47 said that the MCE prototype gave 700 OTF. But it needed air cooling for more than 10 mins. QUOTE(alantch @ Nov 29 2009, 07:41 AM) On Ebay .... a 6P compatible body with no inscriptions for a low price of $10 and free shipping. 18650 capable some more. It looks like something we're looking for and at an affordable price. Only that it doesn't come with head and tailcap... Might be a good candidate for the BS (Bright Side 6P body Btw, newspaper, these are the prototype pictures of the Maelstrom MCE posted months ago. ![]() ![]() Added on November 29, 2009, 4:39 pm QUOTE(strinq) It was green but only when we actually compared 2 lights side by side that we actually notice it so it's not a real bother. When was using it before that we didn't notice at all, so i guess it's really ok. Hehe, yea when we were looking at the Quark Ti's beam alone it was nice. This post has been edited by pseudoblue: Nov 29 2009, 04:39 PM |

Wow!
The SST-50 LED can actually take up to 5A, which should be 1k+ lumens, generally I've been reading they drive it lower, maybe cause of efficiency and heat-sinking. I wonder if someone already made a big LED light with SST-50 and drive it at 5A. 2x 18650 in series and parallel another 2x 18650. Tested Rookie's Quark Turbo 123 just now and it was AWESOME! Very bright!
Actual looks is smaller and compact than the pictures, very good for EDC. Thicker body, more solid feel and everything fits nicely. Body tail threads are anondized yes, and the tailcap is also more beefed up. Non-crenelated tailcap does feel better for a forward clicky operation. 2x CR123 and 1x 17670 compatible Can't wait to see this Turbo perform in the dark |

Well done on the beamshots rookiedaddy! It looks like the E2DL is slightly brighter
Regarding donut holes, no the Turbo doesn't have it as well ET's XPEs. But they do have a very very slight fade in the center. The one swith SMO. |

QUOTE(susuman @ Dec 1 2009, 03:51 PM) Jetbeam RRT-0 GB Update: Ah man! I am glad to announce the payment collection is completed. I had made an purchase order and currently we are waiting for the ETA to deliver and payment to supplier. For your info, previous batch (1st batch) RRT-0 have some problem in the built-in protection circuitry; hence a rectified new batch of RRT-0 with new circuitry will be out this 11th Dec and we will be getting them. But there will be a slight wait though. I think it is still before Christmans (I Hope) I think it has something to do with how it's monitoring the voltage as posted earlier. Oh well... wait summore |

Hold on there my friend. I think Gadgetworld2U sell those lasers (correct me if I'm wrong ppl) you posted. They are our local flashlight dealer, they might have the lasers you're looking for and they sell much much much brighter lights than a minimag flashlight (unless it's modded) Anddd... btw guys, with all these GB busyness.. Btw, had a bad experience with my newly attained MC10. This afternoon when I was learning the UI and switching modes and hidden modes, the light suddenly cut off completely. I couldn't even switch it on. I thought it was a battery issue, so I had to wait until I got home, change different battery and it still didn't work. I put that battery in my Quark and it was fine, even at Max mode. Recharge batteries, put in Quark worked, put in MC10 nothing. Used a paper clip to test connectivity, switch it on, still nothing... |

Maelstrom News!!
QUOTE(4sevens) Hi everybody http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=206401Due to various reasons, we have decided to move the entire Maelstrom line to be released at the Shot Show in 2010 (January 19-22). One of the main reasons is that we felt that further testing and validation of the products are needed to ensure they perform above and beyond in extreme and tactical environments. We felt that releasing it at the shot show is more appropriate and it also saves us from rushing a product without all the thorough testing that requires lots of time. I apologize to those who were anticipating these lights for holiday season - at least now you're not waiting in anticipation. The last two releases have been set for the last day of the year - we may release them a few days earlier depending on when the product will roll in. Since it's the end of one year and the beginning of a new year we wanted to try something new - release a product when have it on hand and ready to ship I will not say anything else about these two releases until then - please don't ask Well, better to have a properly tested and designed product eh. I've seen a youtube vid months ago, from a guy who modded his minimag into a balloon popping laser. By scavenging the emitter from a DVD Rom. lol
Lasers are very dangerous though, concentrated light is no joke. With kids around, it's best to hide them and out of reach of children. It's also good to educate them about lasers and lightings, safety and warnings |

QUOTE(old newspaper @ Dec 3 2009, 10:55 AM) speaking of dead of light....my brand new [ never even used it before ] EagleTac T20C2 die premature.. Arranging with supplier now for replacement. yes sir... I figured it has parasitic drain because of the UI (like the TK40's UI), found out info on CPF as well and did my own test with my DMM. It really do draw 0.033mA. Very small, according to straight calculation, it will last 7 years on standby with an Eneloop. So the driver and the connectivity is working, I think the switch is gone case. Btw, was talking about Fenix MC10 Can't participate in the D-Mini Ultra GB as well, would really love to, but my budget's blown for now..... But it's an SST-50 light.. darn |

Eheh... you guys don't need a president
We'll progress slowly and we have something already. But activities here should overflow to v3 (I think we still can go up to 300 pages?). Compilation of data and references can be posted at MYCPF (to generate traffic for reference and soon for discussions), and on V3 as well. First post content : 1. List of all flashaholic here with their list of lights - so we know who to look for if there's any questions pertaining to that specific model [ not for show-off purpose ya ] 2. FAQ for some new comer reference, a link will do I think there should be a re-post of this in MYCPF - List your lights. Those pictures, eye candies you guys posted here (your collection), if you can, put into photobucket, or another service. But please remember to spread the poison here as well. *If don't have a camera it's okay, just name it Second post : 1. Gathering info - compilation on all previous and up coming gathering 2. Information / Announcement on all those new release light All gathering info and links after me has been posted in MYCPF - Events and Gatherings section. Upcoming Gathering info at KD Trail is also up, including the date and details. *information of new lights and stuff will progress as time passes, don't think I will put a reference link for these. The poison must keep going Third Post : 1. Review section - lights review only by our members here We have a dedicated review section in MYCPF. What we can do is put the full review there and summary and pictures here. Forth post : 1. All the Group Buy Information - all previous GB and up coming GB - so it's easy for everyone to check and monitor it from here [ no need hassle to search the entire thread for the GB status/ update ] any comments on this matter is most welcome. So the nominated TS should be preparing all these info by now so our V3 could be more properly organized This part is tricky, it's hard to get responses of GB in MYCPF (don't know why), GB seems to be more effective here. lol. Point of references is still stronger here. When v3 start, I'll re-post the references. This post has been edited by pseudoblue: Dec 3 2009, 03:03 PM |
