What chess tournament you participated? Been really long long time away from chess competition, hows the result? Did the strobe works?

Wow! drool.gif It's ok, the more brainswashing better biggrin.gif bwahaha.. He didn't what's the Max Lumens huh.

The SST-50 LED can actually take up to 5A, which should be 1k+ lumens, generally I've been reading they drive it lower, maybe cause of efficiency and heat-sinking.

I wonder if someone already made a big LED light with SST-50 and drive it at 5A. 2x 18650 in series and parallel another 2x 18650. (8.4v and 5200mAH) drool.gif

Microfire Challenger II (L2000R)
As an updated version of L500R, Challenger II L2000R is a giant in LED flashlights. Featured the unique reflex and focus technology, L2000R will put out the power of daylight which is 2000 lumens from 19 units of Cree Q5 LED lamps.

Hrm, I was thinking what will be the diff with the Turbo & Maelstrom XPG too. Maybe just a little over the max like 1.2A or something, since it has a bigger head for heatsinking. And that the deep reflector is the key to 500 OTF lumens? haha.

47 said that the MCE prototype gave 700 OTF. But it needed air cooling for more than 10 mins.
It looks like something we're looking for and at an affordable price. Only that it doesn't come with head and tailcap...  hmm.gif
Btw, newspaper, these are the prototype pictures of the Maelstrom MCE posted months ago.

biggrin.gif Okay, im guessing 2cm shorter than the TA21, but similar tail and body thickness. Looks great, wonder how the final product looks like now, it has been like 2 months since the last pic.

It was green but only when we actually compared 2 lights side by side that we actually notice it so it's not a real bother. When was using it before that we didn't notice at all, so i guess it's really ok.
Hehe, yea when we were looking at the Quark Ti's beam alone it was nice.

oops, i saw that pic few months back d...but didn't realized this is the maelstrom... doh.gif

Tested Rookie's Quark Turbo 123 just now and it was AWESOME! Very bright! wub.gif drool.gif

Actual looks is smaller and compact than the pictures, very good for EDC. Thicker body, more solid feel and everything fits nicely. Body tail threads are anondized yes, and the tailcap is also more beefed up. Non-crenelated tailcap does feel better for a forward clicky operation. 2x CR123 and 1x 17670 compatible thumbup.gif

Can't wait to see this Turbo perform in the dark brows.gif

no need E2DL,this one (Quark Turbo ) really pump out more than 200lumens OTF biggrin.gif
The only direct competitor that can match the Quark Turbo in term of brightness is the L-Mini with Turbo head smile.gif

So sorry to hear about that man. But I'm sure 47's will make it all right with you. The Turbo's which I have received were OK.

Haha! E2DL has a bigger hotspot (I think). These things should pump out a minimum of 230 lumens OTF. If we follow CREE's specs (and if 47's did not underrate them), output of these should be 230 - 245 lumens OTF.

A Quark Ti was recently tested 240 OTF.

But there is one which is greater than these though. Eagletac T10 series pumps out in excess of 250 lumens OTF.

Now we wait for the Maelstrom. =D

On a side note, I've noticed something interesting. There is no real donut hole. When I check with a digital color meter of your beamshot, everything is even on the Turbo! Could it be our eyes playing tricks??

BTW, rookiedaddy is right! The tailcap threads is anodized!! O.o!! The ones on the body. That means no changing positions of the clip unless you want a 1 mode light. =D

polkiuj thanks for your CSI work smile.gif my concerns is not the donut hole but the dirty lens on the inside plus the loose circuit board, other than that no issue.Hopefully 4sevens can send me a replacement without waiting this one to arrive.

EDIT: I believe you can see the Surefire TIR lens really work its magic here, the bright hotspot throws as well as the Turbo, if not more. notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

Well done on the beamshots rookiedaddy! It looks like the E2DL is slightly brighter biggrin.gif

Regarding donut holes, no the Turbo doesn't have it as well ET's XPEs. But they do have a very very slight fade in the center. The one swith SMO.

hmm.gif Maelstrom XPG or MCE?! rclxub.gif sweat.gif

E2DL basically has less spill than Quark Turbo, both have comparable throw, tho Quark Turbo has more overall brightness. brows.gif
yea... XP-G in E2DL, that'll be interesting... drool.gif

from the photos, it may appear so, but that's likely due to tint different and the bright spill of Quark Turbo overlapping E2DL spot. sweat.gif brows.gif
