Hi strobelighter,

Ultrafire WF-501B is a single mode flashlight, why not take the Ultrafire C1 R2-WC 5-Mode Memory, unless you really like the single mode version.

The C1 is a real thrower, and with memory mode, so it will always remember and turn on in the last mode.

As for the quality, Ultrafire is not the top quality producer, but it is ok or fine, in fact it is great for the price.

I have surefire, fenix, jetbeam, 4sevens as well as ultrafire, aurora, Conqueror (also surefire) flashlight.

The Ultrafire sometimes has problem like the flashlight may have scratches/chip when arrived, and I had once dropped my Ultrafire C1, and the flashlight cannot work due to the weak soldering. It was ok after I re-solder it. Besides these, it was great light, it is really cheap. I have a small single CR123A Ultrafire 601C, it is as bright as a Fenix P3D.

Oh, if you know the Ultrafire C1 throw and as bright as my Fenix PD30 and surefire E2DL, then you know why I like it. And it takes 2xCR123A /RCR123 and a single 18650.

And.. I run a high mode, the C1 run for 4 hours and still running, but I off it save the battery, while the Fenix P3D has a LED burnt just after 20 minutes. rclxub.gif

Bottom line, Ultrafire is a cheap alternative to own high output flashlight, with some minor QC problem which can be offset by the low price. cool.gif

hi, I dont own this DMM, but by the look of the picture, it seems like you have plug into the wrong socket when you measure mA, when you use mA to measure, you should have plug into the mA, and when you set to 10A setting, use the 10A socket.

Hence the reading on the mA is wrong as you are using the 10A socket, but the reading of current in the 10A should be correct.

Draw .27A on med should be ok, but are you sure the flashlight draw 2.28A on high? if that is true, then the LED driver is not efficient on the High, it draw around 6W for a 3W output.

Or maybe the DMM is not correctly calibrated. hmm.gif

The new VF in 1/60 has better joints, parts etc than the old VF 1/48 like mine.

Anyway, nice to know you like Macross as well! icon_rolleyes.gif

(I changed my avatar too hoping many ppl would like it)

Hi Striderman, surefire is the 3rd from left, beside the blue flashligh. It is a E2D LED Defender.

Amazingly, the E2DL is rated 120 lm by surefire, but it is brighter then the 245 lm Fenix PD30. LOL

In my collection, only the Xenon and the Jetbeam RRT2 can match the E2DL in terms of throw, though I have a 900 lm P7, but it is too wide to match the E2DL in throw.

The Jetbeam only can match the E2DL when you focus it very tight, if in wide angle, it is still no match.

The 600 lm Xenon wins anyway.

In throw, the E2DL actually very wide, but still very bright in 100m.

hmm, looks like the surefire really know how to make a flashlight that good in flood and throw. Btw, the Jetbeam is good alternative with best price and quality balance.

Hmm, really nice pictures and lovely collection, and loved the metal-models too.

The surefire 6P D looks like pretty badly worn on the edges, you really use it to the fullest. Thinking to get a 6PL D and a Xenon module too, any suggestion?? drool.gif

actually i bought a lot of flashlight from the china website ...... all are luxeon led
2 to 3 unit bulb already burn, have a few luxeon K2 on hand and i dunno how to replace
at the same time, i also thinking to replace with CREE, maybe run time is better than luxeon
so any advise/idea ???
BTW, u have a great collection of flashlight and i wonder how often u use them tongue.gif
*
If the LED is burnt, and you have spare one, why not just de-solder the burnt LED, and re-solder the new one? If you don't have the soldering iron, and you are near to Jusco Tmn Equine, Seri Kembangan, then can pass to me, I can help replace them for you.

Actually I use them daily, but not every flashlight lar. Some are just put beside the bed and for my family members. My son like to play with them too. Lately I have no opportunity to go out door, so really hardly use it fully. after all it is just a hobby to collect them.

Well, when there is a black out, it is really useful, can light the house whole night nod.gif

Oh yeah, yesterday my colleagues home's black out due to a bad ELCB, so I grabbed 2 flashlights, 1 aurora P7 to tail stand and lit the whole house, then a Ultrafire C1 (Close Surefire C2) to lite the Distribution Box and I helped him to change the ELCB at night.

One amazing thing is, this colleagues home does not have a single flashlight, ohmy.gif

*
Have you gain access the LED, if yes, a Multimeter test across the LED lead will tell whether the power reach the LED or not, if there is power, but no light, then the LED burnt, or else the driver circuit that rosak.

Sometimes it could be a bad switch also, so really have to do some test on it. Driver circuit can get those after market if the original is unavailable.

If you are too far from my place, post some photo of the flashlight, parts by parts, and get a digital multi meter DMM (borrow or something), I show you the way to conduct the test. icon_rolleyes.gif

Ya, after 2-3 weeks only have the chance to shoot the photos.

but wait, Philightsophy have my SP6 shipped and I should have additional member into the collection soon. drool.gif

It says only 501 and 502 series, so I am not so sure. I wonder why they want to imitate Ultrafire, because Ultrafire is copying Surefire too. biggrin.gif

Anyway I have a Ultrafire C1 and WF-602C, both do not have the golden lable nor the bar code label, I ordered them from DealExtreme.com sweat.gif

But they really work perfectly for me. The C1 is a real thrower , and can use 18650 battery, with very long runtime, I remember I use a 6-7 years old battery, it run high hours.

And the WF-602C, just 1 RCR123, but it is really bright, to brightest 1 cell flashlight, brighter than my Fenix P2D. But it is a good floodlight, good for edc.
Being that cheap, I don't care if there are not original Ultrafire.

sure i have time to check out the SP6  brows.gif , i'm still waiting for a couple of lights shipment....once i get it then i'll have some decent light to compare with....
Interesting News? Buying Eagletac at 40% off !!!!! plus free shipping worldwide shocking.gif

visit here www.Eagletac-Store.com

All Eagletac products are available for a 40% discount by using the EAGLE40 discount code when checking out

hmm.gif still considering about this deal....how good is eagletac light?
*
Oh!! But I bet the price will be similar to "Philightsophy", why not PM him? It is faster to get from local dealer, he was telling me the EagleTac should arrive soon.
BTW, I already ordered from Philightsophy one set of T20C2 RGB Kit, I am sure he already give that the discount (or isn't he? hmm.gif )
(Philightsophy, free advertisement haha, so can you give me a discount code for discount when checking out, brows.gif )

One more problem for US is the shipping is expensive, usually they will just ship without "Registered Mail" service (called Signature Required in US, Signfor in UK), if you need Signature Required and Online Tracking then you have to pay more (both are add on), some store don't even allow insurance for Malaysia, so...

US Shipping also so far take longest time to arrive, I had parcel took 2 months. Having said that, ordering from UK only need 1 week to arrive, and signfor is cheaper too.

1 funny observation, I ordered items from international sellers, usually Registered Mail send faster by POS malaysia, airmail parcel sometimes takes longer time for the Kastam or POS to send to me.

Bro old newspaper, nowadays the tracking number cannot be trace in Pos Malaysia site, very pitty, last year still can, but now you cannot tack registered mail anymore (from foreign country). I hope your Item is ok. So far ordered 14 times from DealExtreme, so far none go missing. Even 1 is just plain airmail.

What you ordered from DealExtreme?

And WOW, 49.74 is really cheap then! drool.gif BTW, where you get the info about the discount code and stock clearance??? I didn't see in their web site wor.

bro Philightsophy,

i just realize that SP-9 3 cell with xenon module is cheaper than SP-6 2 cell with led module.....what's the pro and con of xenon as compare to the led? which is better xenon or led? and why ?....

sorry for the noob question....
*
Bro old newspaper, have you have any Xenon before, it is those Yellowish hot light bulb, very bright, like car front lamp. it use heat to generates light (I suppose) as oppose to LED which generates light directly, and heat is the by product of the conversion.

Generally, LED is much more power efficient, so can run much longer.

Xenon is very short run time, maybe an hour or so. For my 20W Xenon, 2x18650 only last 40-45 minutes.
And Xenon life span is very short, may be 20-30 hours, some is more
but LED easily 50,000 to 100,000 hours, virtual you don't need to replace it.

1 advance of Xenon is , the color rendition when in the wood or outdoor, the same amount of lumens, Xenon provide better vision outdoor. While LED gives good vision when you looking at White or Blue objects.

So that is why I love Neutral White LED (the 5A bin), it gives better vision when you are out site the house.

For comparison, I have a SSC P7 900 lumes LED and a 20W Xenon 600 lumens, the Xenon beats the P7 when looking at trees 100m away. But the Xenon only can run for 40m, while the P7 can run for 1.5 hours, both running at 2x18650

And the LED I won't worry about the Life span of the bulb, while I know I have to replace the Xenon sooner or later.
