breaking is one thing, comfort and playability is another. i currently have the crossfire on my racket and it feels rather stiff. looking for either multifilaments or syn guts.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Sep 17 2009, 06:14 PM)
That string not worth it, break even easier than Crossfire ._.

ouch... shocking.gif

aiyo guys, this is supposed to be tennis thread la, not fear factor... tongue.gif

anyway, i found in the past that the type of grip also affects the blisters. i found tourna grip to be particularly blister prone as i have rather dry hands.

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 22 2009, 11:17 AM)
hey i hav the same spot as you ... chk this out ...

[attachmentid=1209942]
The finger part is where i normally get my blisters and also the side of the thumb. Using an in-between grip (semi & full western). However the lower palm area is my first time and the most severe one.. from using a big butt KPS 88. the lower butt is more prominent on that particular racquet.. ..anyways at least i know how that came about. Thus i would say that the grip size and also the thickness, evenness and the way you wrap the grip affects whether you'll get blisters or not.    rclxub.gif  after today gotta take some time off to nurse my injuries...  or put on a golf glove ? hmm.gif

the tourna grip original is good if you have sweaty hands. i dont sweat that much, and thus the grips tend to wera out pretty quickly through rubbing, but i suppose with sweaty hands it should work better.

QUOTE(kokolomondo @ Sep 30 2009, 12:55 PM)
TournaGrip has two version. One is the Original Dry and the other one is Tourna Tac (Tacky feel). They also have two length of grip, one is for normal length racket and the other one is XL which is for the LongBody racket I think or maybe if you just need the extra length.

If you wanna try, maybe you can get the 3 pack grip probably around RM 20 - 25.

the tourna grips are great, only drawback is the durability. like ten yrs back it was almost difficult to see another grip other than the light blue tourna grip on the atp tour. but of course pros can get them for free mah... tongue.gif

ah, now that someone brough up technifibre...

anyone who has experience with black code, how would you rank it in terms of comfort ie stiffness compared to SPPP or LBB Alu?

i know of course that the main attributes of polyester isn't comfort, but at the same time dont want to kill my arm. the luxilon was a royal pain...

thanks!

only poly i've used so far is the luxilon, after reading all the hype about it a year back. tried it and really cannot stand it. went back to my tried and tested prince syn gut DF. but with the k61 95 find it a bit too bouncy strung at 55lbs, so looking to hybrid it with a comfy poly for more control.

how much is cyberblue btw? u can get this from memory?

and blackcode? is sportprises currently the only place to get it?

QUOTE(Yan @ Oct 2 2009, 11:15 AM)
well i've used plenty of blackcodes so far (more than 10x). i would say just giv it a try.. it's pretty comfortable and it's a soft poly 3rd gen i think if not mistaken. definitely softer than luxilon that is a sure thing. as for sppp, i've used it twice but dun feel it's anything to shout about. soft yes, but i wud rate is similar to cyberblue in terms of comfort or i would even put it tat cyberblue seems more comfortable (but then again i can't be sure as the sppp is 16gauge and the cyberblue i used was 17). It's true the spin potential of blackcode is by far more superior than what i've used. however as it's true 20% fr the strings & further 80% from technique. so go figure... technique i'm prob noone to comment thus i need all the spin potential the strings has to offer to increase my spin rate smile.gif

blackcode is priced quite ok in my opinion.. averagely priced at rm69 (plus stringing). hopefully now with more competition from this other new shop, sportsprises will have to reduce their price to stay competitive.. which is a plus for us buyers and users.

happy experimenting...

my next try is hybrid blackcode & x1-biphase..

no 1 racq, this is the one same row as the ship in uptown right?

i think 50 is quite alright considering that i can use it for 2 racqs in a hybrid set. will try and see how it goes.

QUOTE(Yan @ Oct 2 2009, 12:00 PM)
as of now.. sportsprises and i think this other smaller shop "the stringers" in Bangsar Village has em.

cyberblue i normally can get abt rm50. u can try no.1 racq shop and also memory sports. i think someone in forum has a reel and can sell u cheaper if not mistaken... he plays at the rain tree or was it KDE.

also want to know if anyone is selling off their wilson k61 tour 90. a friend of mine is looking for one, thanks!

never thought i'd need to switch away from syn guts or multifilaments, but the new brred of rackets are so stiff that it is difficult to play with the lively characteristics of syn gut or MFs. i actually have to shorten my swing to accomodate.

some wud say the pro supex big ace red is much better than the over-hyped red code >> still can't pass any comments have not tried them yet. but getting a shipment of big ace and blue gear soon. still communicating with the seller for a shipment here to malaysia.

i really dunno what was wrong with the old numbering system. maybe not "cool" anymore. at least back then u were fairly certain what u were getting ie a PS 6.1 is definitely lower powered and more flexible than a PS 4.0 for instance. nowadays how would u compare a kobra to a ktour???

QUOTE(Yan @ Oct 6 2009, 10:15 AM)
opps i just edited my post after remembering the name...haha...  great timing bro ...

Added on October 6, 2009, 10:18 amthe name of the federer racket will still be:

aiya yalah i know that, but the point i am driving at is that you can no longer tell from the name of the racket alone how it will play in relation to its siblings.

yes, i was referring to the swing index system. i think it used to be take for granted then that a wilson with a SI of 4.0 is almost definitely more powerful than one with an SI of 6.1.

even today looking at the swing weight does not tell you the whole story as you'd probably have to look at the RDC too. but then you'd be delving into the detailed specs to get an idea how one wilson relates to the other, whereas under the SI naming convention one look and u'd know where it stands in wilson's range.

QUOTE(praetorian @ Oct 6 2009, 10:52 AM)
Not quite sure what you mean, what exactly are you looking for?
The old Pro Staff 6.1 , do you mean classic, the one with black, yellow, and red (see pic)
If stiffness look at the stiffness index.
If you are looking at at Swing Index ie last time some Wilson rackets are 4.0 SI (Swing Index) I would gather now these days you should look at swingweight.

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageRCWILSON-KOBRAT.html
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageRCWILSON-KTOURM.html
Using your examples, the stiffness for Kobra Tour is 60 where as for the Ktour the stiffness is 64.

The swingweight for the Kobra Tour is 309 and for the Ktour is 331.

What this means Kobra tour is slightly softer than Ktour and you can achieve a easier swing with the Kobra than Ktour, but solidness ie, mishits the Ktour is slightly more stable.Hope I have helped.

just to provide some feedback to my previous poly string query, i strung up a k61 95 with the topspin cyberblue hybrid with synthetic gut, and it was wonderfully soft. tension at 53/55. very un-poly like. using fully synthetic on the racket caused it to be almost too powerful, had to shorten my swing. but with the poly taming the stringbed a bit it was much better. maybe a slightly stiffer poly in future...

yan, u got your order of pro supex big ace in yet?

QUOTE(Yan @ Oct 6 2009, 11:33 AM)
APDC ar..  i've tried the luxilon alu rough on it.. (too stiff.. arm like falling off).. also tried the Pro Hurricane Tour 17. Though it's also a stiff string but i find that to be okay. i mean if u wanna to have the fullsetup of the "supposedly" nadal's combination.haha...  I even tried the duralast strings (his real strings also).

However my last test on it was the Blackcode. and recommended it to carto. he is happy using it now with the added spin. Coz it's soft poly and doesn't hurt your arm as bad as those 2 other stiffer ones above. I would say give it a go since the APDC is renowned for it's spin potential so when coupled with another strong spin strings... go figure .. wink.gif
