QUOTE(zdepth @ Sep 1 2009, 09:34 PM)
zdepth's racquet butt building

I was using a Pro Kennex Redondo last time & it had a great flared out butt cap on it which provided a great feel & grip support which was unrivalled by any other racquet brand. You would never know on how it would make such a great difference unless you use it yourself. Its especially useful when you have a worn out grip or while doing a hard flat serve as the racquet can fly out of your hand easily... I've witnessed someone from this forum who broke his racquet when it flew out of his hand during serve. So never save money in getting frequent grip change as a worn out grip might cost u a racquet. Anyway to enhance your grip u can do a butt building to achieve a flare out butt just like a Pro Kennex racquet. Here's my customization on my Fischer racquet:

user posted image

The ingredients: 1 inch surgical/athletic tape ($3) & a brand new replacement grip ($9.90). U can use some other tape but surgical tape is soft & nice.

user posted image

Checkout the cool screw-on Fischer handle pallet... this design doesnt rattle or lossen & u can screw on a different grip size pallet to change the grip size
unlike the molded handles u find on wilson & numerous other brand.

user posted image

Just use the 1 inch surgical tape & wrap around the butt end & build it up to a desired thickness

user posted image

walaa! wrapped up with a karakal PU super replacement grip... checkout the flare!

user posted image

Added a layer of Gamma Supreme overgrip for my normal grip size build up

user posted image

This is what I'm talking about... the pinky on my hand rest just slightly on the edge of the flared butt, eliminating a slip. I cant put it in words but u gotta try it out & then u know the grip feeling that this makes especially on serve. Happy experimenting  smile.gif

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 15 2009, 04:40 PM)
hahah... i hav it already . just haven't string it up yet... in my store room wink.gif

about the stringing adding lead... personally i haven't try it yet but i know a few players who adds them to experiment and some came to enjoy it. esp when buying those asian versions of the k6.1 90... i know a few who will add a few G to make it the US version alike. So i won't rubbished adding leads etc for tweaking the racket to suite individual. If not then i post this question back... all 300g rackets the same ?? of coz not .. coz weight is not the only factor to consider when we swing a rack, it's the racket's overall weight, the swing balance, head heavy, head light, stiffness, sweetspot size etc... so by tuning it even by pros, they can maximized on their comfort level as well as performance. Even more clearly those tourney's players be it local or international who has a few of the same racq, for e.g two k6.1 90s, they might hav some slight diff due to their diff batches. so players do custom the weights to get it as close as possible.

Thus i would say it's nothing wrong and nothing weird to custom ur racq to your own personal pref. it's very personal and up 2 individual desire...

Added on September 15, 2009, 4:42 pmp/s: just came back fr topper and sportsprises ...  bought a new Dunlop 4D500 for rm460 ... strung it cross higher, mains lower...  gonna go down to try it out ... smile.gif

i wouldnt bother,got myself a kps88 oredi,no need to modify,my k90 is backup now.. tongue.gif

Bro,

Some pro's racquet are specially made for them to suit their game. nod.gif
Maybe those racquets u mentioned is just the normal type of racquet u can get it everywhere. hmm.gif
Even Federer's racquet is diff from what the shop is selling.correct me if i wrong. whistling.gif
*
i know some pros still using the old rackets with paintjobs, but Federer's
racket is stock standard with some customization..

i have customized my old ps95,by adding weight to the handle to bring
down the balance point, kinda worked but added unnecessary weight to
the stick, end of the day, same racket..
my advice? save up n invest in a new one that is the right specs..

QUOTE(SticH @ Sep 24 2009, 05:16 PM)
Hello guys, just bought a bunch of balls from yan (very fast and reliable seller) , so here are some questions I want to ask.

1. How do I preserve the pressure in tennis balls without buying any others equipment?
2. What can I do with a bunch of balls except training my serve?
3. Is it appropriate to bring a lot of balls playing with my friends when there are others bunch of players playing beside me?

Thanks.
*
1.no way to preserve, dont open can la.. tongue.gif
2.new one become not new,not new throw or donate, thats the circle of life.. blush.gif
3.only use minimum eg.3,or as many as ur pockets can carry, thats it rclxms.gif

zdepth,ur sarcasm is kinda lost la,hahahahahaaa tongue.gif
my 2sen on "volleying rackets"..
if u look at volleying as part of the sentence "serve & volley",
then yes u gotta have a Pistol Pete serve to do justice to ur
volleys..otherwise volleying is about playing ur shots just
right to find the right moment to dispense an effective
volley to the point,NOT buta2 go to the net n become a
totem pole for ur oponent to pass u..play ur game, return
ur shots the best u can,hit deep when u can n go for ur
volley,if ur not a baseliner then worse case scenario is
u'll lose the point at ur favourite spot(the net) than being
pummelled into submission at the baseline(u'll save some
arm strength too),provided u already know how to volley
la..im not that good anyway,so its just my
personal opinion,i've never beaten anyone anyway,
or no one would admit hehehehee blush.gif
oh if the topic was about the racket,im using a k90,
coz thats the headsize im comfy with, been using a few
90s a couple of years,so headlight or headheavy or
whatever only matters on how fast ur reaction is on
the approach..
btw,u guys are super-technical!until pre-stretching is
a big issue!i thought if i string that tension, thats the
tension i play with until i change the string, hehehe biggrin.gif
i kowtow all u sifus! notworthy.gif
