not me leh.

i have reserve some money to buy more if its qtr report is disappointing, and if worse still, no dividends, price sure kena knock down. but since it is a GLC & EPF's favourite, i have a tad confidence in my buying.
*
What do you mean by not you? You din earn from Alam?
Long time GLC and EPF switch to support Commerz. Maybank is going up because EPF subscribe too many Maybank right issues, so I believe they push the price up so that they can sell off their right issue. Some more, EPF also have a lot of Maybank shares at RM10, so the only way to earn is to push up after the right issue (which they did) and then sell off. If I can get some insider news on Maybank and it is doing good, then I might be jumping in as well laugh.gif

actually,

uncle sam is 80% wrong...

he sold off most of his share when KLCI was 1050... now only got around 50k..

he is right 20% of the time.. so actually, he is not so great...
*
Well, if he is 100% correct, he will be the richest man in the world. Anyway, I just dun like the way he talk about certain stocks, but some of his principles are actually quite correct. To follow or not to follow him is our choice. I choose not to follow, because if market rally, everyone are actually making money, just how much we are actually gaining? 50%? 2x? 3x? etc...

QUOTE(kolabong @ Aug 11 2009, 11:13 PM)
Dear Sifus,
Need your precious advice. I'm new to share investment (less than 10months). My bullets are limited and i'm only able to buy bit by bit. Below is my portfolio (units x average price bought):
HARTA 1,000 3.500
ANNJOO  1,000 2.160
DIALOG  2,000 1.130
PANTECH 3,000 0.797
RCECAP  4,000 0.585
IOICORP  2,000 4.010
KNM  7,000 0.645
TEBRAU  2,000 0.805
SCOMI 3,000 0.698
UEMLAND  2,000 1.535
DELEUM 1,000 1.680
YTLPOWR 1,000 2.190
currently using hlebroking and current return is about 18%.
so my questions are:
1) is my portfolio too diversified/spread out?
2) is it a "waste" to buy just 1000 units? what is the recommended minimum units to buy for those less than RM1 and RM2 counters?
3) I'm more a buy-hold fella, always missed out the "sell on strength". what is your average profit target before selling it off?

feedback and suggestions are most welcome!
cheers,
kolabong
*
1. Almost all ONG counters - not diversified enough
2. The best is invest within your means
3. If you are more of buy-hold fella, no need to sell, if the profit too little. But then again, judging at your portfolio, you are more of hit and run type. Most of your counters are hit and run type. Believe me, if there is earthquake in KLCI, most of your holdings can easily drop 50% of your buy price. Only about 2-3 counters can hold tight

Just my opinion though. Maybe you can reduce some ONG counters, but then again, I could be wrong. Just not my cup of tea investing heavily on one sector.

Else, I wanna go to US. (err but NYSE is like FOREX, very risky)

So, now stuck with SNAIL market, unique.

Wah....looking at your portfolio as of now, seems like losing a lot of money. Maybe a reset of portfolio, balance out with more stable and long term counters. I see that you bought SeaLink at quite high price also sweat.gif

Axreit is good for dividend purposes, if don't mind currency value depreciation. I will buy Axreit if i have enough bullets  tongue.gif

I was merely saying that most people thought price were high, but in the end jump in higher when they see market continue to rally. This is what I observe. So, I will just buy if the price is right, I don't wait for correction or whatsever, thinking the market could collapse as low as possible, because I'm no God. I dunno when it will end and move the other direction

If you realize, most investors are actually losing money because they:-
1. Sell good stocks too early
2. Keep speculative stocks too long
3. Dunno when to cut loss
4. When panic selling, selling good stocks but keeping speculative stocks which drop at faster rate

Most of us make these mistakes over and over again doh.gif

You need to be Fair also.

Traditionally bulls would be sidelines before any Fed meetings. So bears took the advantages but the volume traded is thin.

After Fed meeting , the bulls would be back in full swing.

Bears could have some Happy Hours, but not too long. biggrin.gif

Added on August 12, 2009, 8:18 amKUALA LUMPUR: Trading is expected to be lacklustre except for a few stocks on Aug 12 as investors' sentiment is expected to be dampened by the overnight fall on Wall Street.

On Wall Street, stocks fell after a prominent banking analyst warned the sector's fundamentals have yet to improve, and an unexpectedly large drop in wholesale inventories raised worries about an economic recovery.

The drop in US wholesale inventories in June, which was nearly double expectations, showed businesses remained sceptical about a return in demand.

At Bursa Malaysia, stocks which could see some trading interest are banks including BCHB and AMMB.

BCHB is scheduled to release its second results after market close while AMMB put up a strong performace in its 1Q results ended June 30.

AMMB's 1Q earnings rose 27% to RM258.24 million, up from RM202.91 million a year ago, boosted by its strong investment banking business

UAC said its net profit rose to RM5.9 million for 2Q ended June 30, 2009 from RM4.9 million a year ago due to stronger demand for its products due to restocking of inventory by customers and also the substantial gains on disposal of shares. The board declared a gross dividend per share of 12 sen.

Scomi Marine's 2Q net profit rose 55% to RM22.48 from RM14.52 million a year ago, underpinned by improved margins through better operations management. Gross profit margin for the quarter was wider at 26.2% on lower bunker and docking expenses.

NSTP and Media Prima should see some trading interest on expectations that Media Prima would take the newspaper publisher private via a share swap exercise.

AmResearch said Media Prima's FY10F's net earnings should improve 20%, resulting in net effect of 5% earnings dilution.

"This would also avoid earnings leakages from NSTP as we expect NSTP's earnings rebounding from an estimated RM5 million in FY09F to RM39 million in FY11F.

What you say is quite true. Traditionally market stays sideline or at least drop before the Fed meets.

Actually Maybank is not that bad a company.

It has largest Market Cap, GLC. It gave good dividends.

The thing is that they made a boo-boo with that Indonesian bank fiasco. I believe that has already been written off, and judging by the reports from large banks like Commerz and PBBank and smaller banks like AMMB, Maybank should report some good earnings last quarter and probably announce some yummy dividends...Hehehe biggrin.gif

I also got Maybank...at 4.50 one...hehehe... smile.gif
*
Maybank...not bad company. But if you are waiting for div, I think you better don't put so much hope on it. I believe they announce before that there won't be div payout anytime soon. But then again, anything can happen
