Hi

Just bought my first blu ray, Philips BDP3000 from SEC, Butterworth, Penang for RM599. They are also selling Sony S360 and Panasonic BD60 for the same price. Don't have to buy anything else to get that price.

Chose Philips coz its the only player that supports DIVX playback. rclxm9.gif

My Phillip BDP3000/98 plays all my BDs fine but I just got two dissatisfaction

1) It can't play my GI Joe Disc 2 mad.gif

2) I also use it to watch movies that I downloaded from the net avi format plays fine including the subtitles BUT MP4 format the picture plays with no sound vmad.gif

I chose it over BD60 and BD360 because the salesman told me, it is the only player that supports internet movies doh.gif

GI Joe disc 2 is digital copy... dont think it able to play on the BD player
*
Yup digital copy but with Special Features...amazingly it plays well with my DVD player

QUOTE(petrofsky77 @ Dec 3 2009, 09:11 PM)
1. Why lah cannot play ur GI Joe Disc 2? Any error messages on the screen?

2. Yup, so far the most compatible format is AVI. I have tonnes of HDrip movies d/loaded from the net and most of them are in mkv. I use WDTV for this mostly.

3. I'm sure future firmware updates will be able to support more movie format later. Have u updated to the latest firmware yet?
*
1. Nope just quiet

2. WDTV was planning to get it before but I always burn my movies into DVDR easier for me to keep moreover my BD player is cheap one

3. Last time I updated was last month, haven't check yet for newer updates.

Thanks

in my last search for a BD player, I remember reading that Philips BDP3000 cant decode DTS master audio and can not bitstream it either. Is a big lost if a BD cant do that. correct me if i'm wrong. Cant remember de....  blush.gif

sifus... read afew pages back that someone manage to get Panasonic DMP-BD60K for RM599 from SEC.

i called afew of the branch earlier... and they quote me RM1,599.  according to the few salesman i spoke to, RM599 is Purchase-With-Purchase price.  so just wonder how did you guys get the BD-60 for RM599?  which branch you went to?  Did you also purchase the LCD tv?  eeemmm...

appreciate if someone can enlighten me... thanks.

Last month at SEC Penang they were selling Sony, Pana & Phillip for RM599 and you can just buy the player only. Sony and Pana were selling like hotcakes for Sony only display set left and Pana even the display set was sold you got to wait a couple of days.

sooner or later bluray players will have hard-disk builtin which capabale to playback all mkv formats

but seems in ces2010 those well known brands have not much guts to be the first todo it yet..
