Panasonic or Pioneer

hi all master,

newbie here, want to buy a blu-ray player. I see many brand like LG,Samsung,Sony,Panasonic, etc .

I am looking for basic blu-ray player that can play full HD 1080p, 3D not needed. Budget below RM300 possible?

Please recommended.

cinavia is apply to the player. So if is cinavia compliant all discs are effected. I will say all new player now had cinavia enable

Sony basic BD player BDP_S1200 at RM199 at Desa Home Theater Low Yat plaza. All new BDP should be cinavia compliant.. Previously you can play most ahem disc due to not all titles cinavia enabled..

All new BDP (after feb 2012) are cinavia compliant. This protection will only be triggered by copied original product with cinavia protected sound track.

Why make you so sure that your player is Cinavia free? As someone pointed out in an earlier post, not all discs are Cinavia protected. You should try playing some new titles from Sony Pictures. The protection only comes it after about 20 minutes of playing the disc where the audio is muted if the disc is Cinavia protected; the video will still play. Or you are not using the original audio. Ironically, from my experience, I find Sony players most forgiving on ahem discs among the popular brands.

How are you sure that your player are cinavia free? Have you tested with copy of blu-ray disc that's embeded with cinavia and didn't encounter any issue?

All BRANDED BDP are tied up with cinavia due to licensing.

If you really want cinavia free and region free get a china made GENERIC model.  Around rm299 for normal and 399 for 3D, ask around electrical shop. Java version should be up to date there should be no problem with new titles.

DVD most probably will be ok still.
