I already own a Sony BD Player, now looking for a DVD upscaler to play ahem DVD as I do not want to utilise my BD player. Afraid the ahem DVD will spoil it.
I have been scouting around for it with price range from RM280~400. Then came the thought of the Philips BDB3000 which cost is RM580 that comes with DVD upscaler as well. Top up a little more to get BD playback which seems like a worth option. My query; 1. I notice it bitstreams HD audio out. Is this true? 2. Philips is known for ahem DVD King of Play. Does it apply to this BD player as well? 3. Any review from user here that owns this unit? |

QUOTE(mikapoh @ Oct 28 2009, 11:22 PM) Why you still need to watch ahem & low reso of dvd since you've exposed to HD?? Is it the cost factor of BD disc? I thought once you step into HD world there is no turning back...... I still watch those chapalang movies in DVD that are not worth getting in BD. Got more options mar...Will onli get good titles for BD collection. It is true there is no turning back once into HD world, but... once a while I like to U-turn.. Maybe let me elaborate on my set-up a bit.
Room - LCD, Sony S350 BD Player, Pioneer DVD Player, AC Ryan PoHD, Soundbar Living - Plasma, PS3, Home Theatre Set-Up, Astro So u can see, currently I am using Ps3 to watch BD in the living hall cause I don't get to play games during night time in the room thanks to my baby. As such, the Sony BD Player is placed in the room instead for HD movies with wife on the bed.... So, I just wanted an alternative for DVD player in the living, then the Philips BD Player came to my mind with such great price. Both BD and DVD upscaler in 1. At that price, even when it is spoilt by playing ahem DVD, also don't feel the pinch. |

Ok, will get the Philips BDP3000 Player to test out. Now time to scout around at retail shop. Anybody knows of a better price in Penang? Best so far is RM599.
S350 will maintain in the room, and will likely get rid of the existing DVD player... Will use both BD Player for DVD and BD. |

Here are the comparison pics for both S350 & S360... performance wise, I can't notice any differences.. maybe the S360 loads a little faster than S350.
As Ronnt mentioned, the remote on the S360 does not have eject button, funny. But, I could still use the remote from the S350 to work on both models... so that S360 remote is kept in the refrigerator... I kinda like the exterior design of both models... so far no complaint for both these models.. This post has been edited by de_lasoul: Nov 15 2009, 02:24 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(Dickong @ Nov 15 2009, 05:09 PM) Thanks bro, anyway the top or bottom one is the 360 n the remote, which one belong to 350, secondly even if 350 model wont made any different from 360 right. top one is 350, bottom one is 360.... I am not 100% sure about the differences between them other than design, & probably some slight faster loading time. My 350 cost more than my 360.. doubled... |

QUOTE(Sifha238 @ Nov 16 2009, 06:57 PM) I think Philips BD3000 at RM599 (list price at RM799) with FOC Giraffe HDMI Cable. Sometimes, some good deals may come along such as Sony S360 & Panny BD60 at the same price(but no HDMI cable). Their list price should be near RM1K though.... |
