bro, the hi def media is to enable our displays to get closer to what film and the director has to intended to show, . B&W , weird green tint (ala matrix, black hawk down) or color is not the issue la.. it's all about the movie..

Yeah, BHD was really grainy, but then again, its artistically put there by Ridley intentionally ... So not much of a showcase for BD. I agree, go for animations/CGIs for sparkling clean videos! nod.gif

Dark Knight too draggy cause me to fall asleep. Not in my BD list. Review also not that good and I tend to agree with them.

The slim PS3 will be released on August 24 for $299.99. It comes with a 120GB HDD. More to come. Stay tuned!

one problem facing 'slim' devices has always been heat dissipation. wonder whether this is gonna be an issue? hmm.gif

hi guys...being the good son that i am...i gave my BD60 to my dad *sob*

now my dad has quite an extensive DVD collection that are of the *ahem* variety that one can purchase from the side of the roads/hwaker centres/etc (you guys get the idea)

Was just wondering if anyone knows if long term playing of pirated DVDs is known to be harmful for the BD60 or any Bluray player...
*
It wont be 'harmful' per se as it is meant to play DVDs as well. I think a more approriate word is 'wasteful'! laugh.gif

Why dun you get him a proper DVD player instead at a fraction of the price since all he do is watch DVDs?

guys, just wondering any of the current blu-rays player capable of changing the aspect ratio of particular movies ? I've noticed that most shops when they play blu rays movies i can see the black borders. Possible to make it full screen ?
*
Artificially full screen is possible through the Zoom functions but you have to get used to a vertically 'stretched' image and sometimes hidden subtitles (if you need any).

WTA - I have a habit of always checking the audio source of a video I am playing and cycle through all the audio options. How accurate are the readings from the player? If it says 2.1, is it 100% accurate? (reference here more to DVDs).

I think Philips BD3000 at RM599 (list price at RM799) with FOC Giraffe HDMI Cable.

Sometimes, some good deals may come along such as Sony S360 & Panny BD60 at the same price(but no HDMI cable). Their list price should be near RM1K though....
*
Sorry if i came in late but where is the BD3000 @ RM599 sold?

25GB BD pirate is selling around RM48 locally if not mistaken. Never bought any locally unless the original is 25G, else it will be compromised to loose some PQ or SQ to be squeezed the content in 25GB...

I have got some exact duplicate of BD-R copies from China via a friend previously.  Meaning the copies are same size as original, be it 50GB or 25GB.  So far I have no problem on playing them on my PS3. thumbup.gif

Added on December 4, 2009, 9:59 am25GB for around RM13 and 50GB for around RM40, I think it is a steal, at least for me tongue.gif
