Even press the STOP button once already clear the memory, will start all over again.  sweat.gif

Not necessarily (for the BD60 at least). If you press stop (for non Java BD) you can still see the time position on the player's display, then you can power off and when you switch on again (when the Blue Screen appears) just press play and it will continue from the last play position.

I heard 1 forumer said, if not mistaken  sweat.gif , those S360 previously are display units bo.  sweat.gif

Added on November 4, 2009, 1:37 pmOr it is S350 are display unit.  rclxub.gif  Confused.

At that time S350 at one particular center was display units and even then price was RM999. Now price different already if you can still find this phased out model. Last week I saw S350 sold at Sony Sunway Pyramid for RM799/- , new set they said. Now someone mentioned a few posts back price dropped to RM599/- already.

The newer S360 is selling at Best electronics for RM999/-, no way can match the SEC Penang offer at RM599/-.

Simple explanation, if your TV got HDMI input and your player got HDMI output then buy a HDMI cable and connect. HDMI gives the best quality. Both video and sound is output with just one cable.

some noobie question.

does Blu-Ray player support playing VCD?  reason i ask is... well... long story cut short... one shop here told me ALL blu-ray player doesnt support VCD.  so just wonder if its true, or is it just Pioneer BD player.  tongue.gif
also, would like to check what (blu-ray) region code is Pana BD-60.  thanks.
*
Sorry BD60 doesn't play VCD.

For DVD it's region free. Blu-ray is Reg A.

I wouldn't risk playing VCDs on an expensive player. But then again since it's an Oppo with good quality scaling I guess it's worth some risk.

If in KL, Philips BDP3000/3008 at RM599/- at Carrefour. Hurry before no more stocks. The price tag shows RM799/- but you must ask the sales rep for actual price.

But I don't think got DTS-MA decoder. Only Dolby True-HD.

If your amp already got both the HD Audio decoder, then don't need the feature in the player.

Another thing, USB port does not play any media files. It's only for BD-Live use.

I've never seen a 25G BD pirates... it could be expensive too?

China has a version that selling around RM40. But some BD played with quality problem. And it is not even a pirate? or it is? I've no idea.....

It looks to me those are HD 720p niah...
*
Long time available already. But quite a number can't play on the BD60. But then those that I managed to play on the BD60 I couldn't tell the diff compared with the orginal. Just some Audio options and features missing to fit into 25GB disc.

Price is RM40/- at some places.

Nwebie question.
What is the difference between the philips BDP3000 and 3008.
I checked the specs and they appear the same.
Thank you.

They are the same , just the 3008 slightly heavier. Don't know why though.

My friend Philips 3000 can't play some BD. But once he updated the firmware it works.

Same with BD60 and Sony. Thats the whole idea we need to update firmware. BD is still in infant stage. Many unknown problem could occur especially those special features in the BD.

But BD60 is one of the best in playing DVD upscalling to 1080p. I chose that over Sony because of this and because we still got a lot of ahem type of DVD in the market.
Btw, got pirate BD meh? Those are DVD in disguise isnt it?... ha ha ha ha
*
No lah you are mistaking those fake DVD9 blu-ray with those BD-R blu-ray 25GB. For BD60 updating to newest firmware also won't help in better playability of BD-Rs. biggrin.gif

Could it be the lens sensitivity rather than firmwares?
*
A few possibliities, but don't think that lens is a major problem.

Reason is when those discs that can't play on BD60 , they happen only when you play the main movie. Everything will start up fine, menus everything , you can even play their special features etc.

But the moment you press play , the player kicks out back to the menu or something like that. Selecting by chapters also the same thing.

Just a wild guess, maybe those BD-R still got some sort region codes that the BD-60 reject . Could be those movies not from Region A. The BD60 btw is a Reg A player and is not region free. But like I said it's just a wild guess, nothing more.

25GB BD pirate is selling around RM48 locally if not mistaken. Never bought any locally unless the original is 25G, else it will be compromised to loose some PQ or SQ to be squeezed the content in 25GB...

I have got some exact duplicate of BD-R copies from China via a friend previously.  Meaning the copies are same size as original, be it 50GB or 25GB.  So far I have no problem on playing them on my PS3. thumbup.gif

Added on December 4, 2009, 9:59 am25GB for around RM13 and 50GB for around RM40, I think it is a steal, at least for me tongue.gif

Now 25GB already RM8/- cheaper (RM40 now) , if you know where biggrin.gif

Is it confirm that the size is 25GB? Has anyone check it?

As ar188 pointed out :

DVD dual layer 8.5GB can be authored to be BD9 format... making some BDPs believe it's actually a BD and play it...

and then you have your BDR 25GB as well..
*
You look at the colour of BD-R and you will know. The surface is almost Black in colour. The disc will never be able be read by a DVD drive (without saying smile.gif ). And then there is also the HD audio.

On another note, If original Blu-ray 50GB disc has only 30GB of data (all of them are not normally filled to the max) and by taking out certain features , the size can be reduced to 25GB and below, then you will get the same quality (or maybe almost the same) when coverting to the BD-R 25GB.

I got a handful of BD-R for testing (one of then "Knowing", Nicholas Cage) and compared with a rented Original from ToraTora and I couldn't make out the diff between Video and Audio. (not side by side comparison though) . The BD-R had the DTS-MA track as well.

But since you guys have High End systems, maybe you could test it out and see if the differences are obvious.

Yes, to a certain extent. However, most of the movies that I have got are in the range of 40GB. That's quite a massive compression being done to cramp it into 25GB BD. If it is indeed 25GB BD-R for RM8, it's dirt cheap. Then again, won't be buying.

On the 2nd highlighted statement, ain't me  sweat.gif   But, still willing to test it out of curiosity  blush.gif .

Btw, I haven't try out any Unc Ho ver BD with my BD60.
*
Yes, I understand , those titles that are already huge in Original disc, won't be so appealing on BD-R.

Haha I said price cheaper BY RM8/- (RM48 before , now RM40 certain places). I didn't say price is RM8/- biggrin.gif . Uncle HO BD-R and BD-60 bad combination shakehead.gif

I could just lend you the 'Knowing' disc for you to satisfy your curiosity. PM me smile.gif .

Gotta go, late for appointment with someone.
