are there any digital/multimedia artist here using this laptop? could you share your experience?

i'm using a variety of multimedia programs; mainly 3ds max and photoshop. i also use aftereffects.

The specs:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.20GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 32 bit (English)
3GB (1X1GB + 1X2GB) DDR2 SDRAM
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
320GB SATA Hard Drive
15.6''High Definition + WLED (1600x900) Display with TrueLife™ w/Camera

Is it enough?
*
I think for 3ds max and photoshop the laptop can handle it but I not sure about aftereffects. This software need rather good performance laptop to run it. Last time when using my Inspiron 14 (T5450, 8400GS and 2gb ram) , my laptop kinda sluggish when I run the aftereffect together with the Adobe Premier. This s15 is much better than the old Inspiron and with improved processor and ram and the graphic card so it should be okay.

That sim card slot don't have any function as that is a hole/slot with no significant device in it. Dell never release driver support for the as the sim card slot is actually for the Europe model, not Asia Pacific. So every Dell user in Malaysia except Inspiron 10 are not able to use the sim card slot.

hey dudes, i try install win7 oem ultimate 32bit by using some virtualization tools, and the drivers (there is no win7 32bit driver, so i use vista32bit instead) doesnt work at all in win7 (either tell u system not supported or let u install successfully but the devices still wont work.)
i remember someone say he is fine with win7, pls share your experience with me.

Not really. Depend on what you wanted to do with you laptop. You can list out the so called conflict with HD4570 here so we can discuss about it.

Have you tried to download the latest driver released by Dell in their website? You also can try to browse for third party driver or a modded one.

Well, if there is no 'yellow warning', that means your driver should all be working fine...because Win 7 have all the generic drivers for it..but usually not for Graphic Card, Sound Card & also LAN/WiFi....maybe you can try download from the sites (Dell or the LAN sites)...that will work i think...

Hi Ray/experts,

Thanks for the reply!

Anyway, Am i the only one here wanting to use this 64bit?i intend to have this OS for gaming purposes.i believe 64bit can acknowledge the 4gig ram.but i am worried on the compatibility issues on some games like nba2k9.

Since you wanted to get it for gaming purpose then I suggest you to take the 32bit. Not really worth the hassle if you just wanted that extra 1gb of ram in your laptop.

I think as long as your laptop has not delivered up to the ship, you still can change it. Depend on your order status. If your laptop still under assembly, you can call the Dell customer service to change the spec or parts. But be aware that by changing part after order will delay the delivery to you.

i can safely say there's no problem with HD4000 GPU on Vista x64 and Win7 x64...

even apps also... have used x64 OS for more than a year and ve yet to encounter apps and games compatibility problems...

but hey, now Win7 comes with XP mode... this problem is solved... laugh.gif
