hello guys, just wanna ask u,ive just bought myself a studio 1555..
ive noticed that there is a sim card slot at the battery slot.how can i use them?ive tried to insert my celcom broadband, but i didnt detect anything.help please?
*
That sim card slot don't have any function as that is a hole/slot with no significant device in it. Dell never release driver support for the as the sim card slot is actually for the Europe model, not Asia Pacific. So every Dell user in Malaysia except Inspiron 10 are not able to use the sim card slot.

Hi Experts,

I am ordering the dell s1555 windows home vista premium 64bit.
does this OS have problem, I have heard it has a conflict with ati4570.
*
Not really. Depend on what you wanted to do with you laptop. You can list out the so called conflict with HD4570 here so we can discuss about it.

QUOTE(WhiteFlag @ Oct 1 2009, 10:08 PM)
the thing is it cant even detect the lan card..i install the driver from dell cd but still wont work.
*
Have you tried to download the latest driver released by Dell in their website? You also can try to browse for third party driver or a modded one.

Hi Ray/experts,

Thanks for the reply!

Anyway, Am i the only one here wanting to use this 64bit?i intend to have this OS for gaming purposes.i believe 64bit can acknowledge the 4gig ram.but i am worried on the compatibility issues on some games like nba2k9.
*
Since you wanted to get it for gaming purpose then I suggest you to take the 32bit. Not really worth the hassle if you just wanted that extra 1gb of ram in your laptop.

Hi Ray,

I already made an order last tuesday. you think it will still be possible to
change the parts?
*
I think as long as your laptop has not delivered up to the ship, you still can change it. Depend on your order status. If your laptop still under assembly, you can call the Dell customer service to change the spec or parts. But be aware that by changing part after order will delay the delivery to you.

My laptop haven't receive yet.. I bought the customized studio 15 lappy and i wanted a bag but no money doh.gif so i called up dell and tell them whether i can get a bag or not, say i student, no money afford then tell the lady operator nicely say wanna travel with my lappy no bag can't travel, so can help me out or not. Then she direct me to this top sales guy called Ross Chan and he say I just need to send him an email stating that I want to change my spec of my lappy to include a backpack with no additional charges. Before I send him the email, he called me and say which bag I want, then i say I want Belkin Backpack, then he ask what colour, I say black, then he say "okay, just send the email to me". wala~ settled.. whistling.gif he even got me his direct call number.

9999++ dell customer service thumbup.gif
*
+1 Epic. They don't really mind to throw out freebies to the customer especially the sales agent, some of them are really Santa Claus in disguise.

The main point here is asking nicely. If you are sweet talker I believe your chance of getting freebies is high laugh.gif

If you customize it online, the system will handle your order.

If you call to order and customize, is the sales agent who handle your order. System don't talk, human does.

My studio 15 boot up take about 15 sec . Any solution that can make it boot up faster and did not bring any side effect to my studio 15
*
15 seconds is fast, better than common start up already. You can't compared Vista start up with XP or Win 7 's. One of the way to boot up faster is to select the start up application you need only and disable the rest. Other than that I don't know how already.

Which OS you running on? Some audio driver might have problem so I suggest you to re-install the audio driver with a latest one.

Got. You can lock it through the touchpad setting. If I not mistaken Studio 1555 don't have shortcut to touchpad lock.

Hi Team,

new user of dell s1555.
does dell already started distributing the free windows 7 upgarde?
*
I don't think they will distribute it. If I not mistaken you need to download the Win 7 yourself and install it. You might wanna give Dell a call once the Win 7 is officially release.

mine is 1537.not sure if it is a hd led light but it is a cylinder like icon.

I don't think that is a HDD LED indicator. It is more to a battery signal or power signal laugh.gif Using the same laptop as yours and I still can't figure out why Dell doesn't wanted to install a HDD LED indicator, cutting cost maybe doh.gif

Its not functioning? So I assume you type that with external keyboard?

I suggest you restart your laptop and check every key on the keyboard one by one. If those key really not working then just drop Dell a call. Their technician should be reaching your door on Tuesday.

S15 slot-load DVD rom is one of the most troublesome DVD rom that I ever used. It has a slow reading speed and it can't detect *ahem* disc properly. I got a feeling that Dell purposely design the DVD rom not to read pirated stuff laugh.gif I have no problem installing original copies, all of them to be exact.

i have problem with my wifi 5100 on s1555. it can connect to my home network, but after some time (randomly) the internet connection is lose. the wifi is still connected to the network, but i cant browse the internet. then i have to disable and enable back the wifi to get back the internet connection. i am using vista 64 bit. what might be the problem? and i already use latest driver from dell website for the wifi 5100. help...
*
Sometimes is not the hardware that got problem, maybe the network signal is not strong enough as from what I experience, Intel 5100 is not that stable if the network signal is weak.

Hurm i got a minor scratch on the surface beside the touchpad and the lcd frame... i dont know how it happen but can i get it replace using the warranty? plus whats the selling price for 2nd hand studio 1555? 2.5k?
*
You going to send the laptop for warranty claiming for minor scratches??? I don't think Dell will even entertain you for that. People normally claim for hardware failure and scratches is not in the category for hardware failure. It is more to human causes so I don't think Dell will compensate for that. 2nd hand for s15? Depend on your spec.

how do i get dell warranty techician to repair my laptop if i'm in kuching or smaller area like mukah?

I not sure about that but normally no matter how isolated your place is, Dell will tried to send their technician to your place. Worst come to worst you have bring it to somewhere accessibly for the technician to reach you. Posting back to Dell really wasting time and money.

Hi guys..
Can we extend our warranty?
I've been searching over dell website but don't find any sufficient link to make that...  icon_question.gif
Been using Dell Studio 1555 for 4 month now without any problem.. Huuu~
Currently my Studio is under experiment on Win7. Works fine 4 me... Hehe..  whistling.gif
How about all of you?  wink.gif

I think there one or two people selling the warranty extension for Dell in garage sales. If you wanted a better price, you can call Dell sales agent and they will quote a price for you. It ain't cheap though.

Dell S15 have many problems....scary wor especially that dvd drive part shakehead.gif  shocking.gif

One more thing, S15 has how many usb ports?3 right?
*
Not really many problems compared to the first batch of the S1537, the first batch of that really got a lot of problems.

The only that off to this S15 is the dvd drive, other than that I have no problem whatsoever with the machine.

I also having that click sound, but sometimes got sometimes don't have. Normally the click sound happens after I play games and shut down after more than 8 hours of usage. I running without cooler though tongue.gif

Depends. Last time when the assembly plant is in Malaysia, it took around one week to reach. Now the plant moved to China already so it will take around 2 weeks to reach your doorstep.
