If you are looking for gaming notebook, its not really good anymore, given its price range..
Though for other CPU-intensive task and need big ram and 15'' screen, this notebook gives the better value smile.gif

Just for comparison, now you can get Asus X42Jr, i7 740Qm + ATi HD5470@Rm2799, but it doesn't comes with 6GB RAM and its only 14'' but it got 2 years warranty by default..

This is good specification. SC2 will run much smoother on middle to high settings. My Dell Studio can run SC2 much smoother on middle settings compared to my Asus. The smooth is during mission load & when on big size battle. However my Asus can play SC2 on ultra high settings if I overclocked the GPU right. There is plenty headroom for overclocking GT 335M compared to ATI 4570 on my Studio. The most important is warranty & support which I think Dell is the best. If your notebook have major problem, like need replacing the motherboard, you can get Dell technician do it for you minimum in 24 hours to a couple of days & they do it at your house. Other brand usually take time minimum 7 days at least & you'll have to send it to service center. Just my 2 cents. icon_rolleyes.gif

Counterstrike, DotA and Football manager is not even mid-level game, they are low ends.
Most of the laptop nowadays can run these games smoothly, you don't need a gaming laptop specially for these games.

guys i have a Studio 1555 which is about a year and 1/2 old now and it has been insanely hot recently.

it even went off a couple of times during usage due to overheating(i'm using cooler master pad)...

is this a common problem? I'm guessing there's alot of dust build up inside. Are there shops that would clean the insides?

It is normal for notebook that old to overheat because of the dust. It also common problem for Dell Studio. Did you monitor the temperature before it went off? What is the temperature? You can clean it yourself & save the money. You can go to any repair shop @ lowyat & they will clean it up for you. If I were you, I'll do it myself. You don't have to open it, although opening the casing & clean the inside directly will give better result. Instead you can use blower (or whatever name it is) to blow the dust.

my Studio 1555 (running win vista basic) has a problem where sometimes when it's entering windows, my user account is like a brand new account (all my stuff are not in the my documents folder). even the desktop is blank (with the default wallpaper).

after a restart, the window will start properly, loading my actual account correctly.

it has happen a few times already.

anyone has this issue? how to fix?

Hi I don't know if this is out of Topic, but I am planning to buy a laptop from Dell Direct Retail shop (the one at Midvalley). Can I purchase it with cash? Because I googled and it seemed last time they don't accept cash, but what about now? I don't have a credit card. I'm applying but it will take me 3-4 weeks to get the card -__- Thanks!!

You need to call Dell hotline to extend the warranty, 1800880022 (Malaysia). You can't do it online (website). For 1 years around RM40X & 2 years around RM6XX. If you extend after current warranty expired, you'll need to pay double. Please call for exact price. I got these information today. They told me the price is according to current market price.
