We'll have to buy someone irregardless of the result. I just don't see PIG as good enough for United. Period.

Now that I look at the Birmingham line-up; it's decent. Hart, Carr, Phillips, Ferguson and Larsson are all decent players.
And as for Ferdinand, SELL HIM!!! SELL HIM!!! SELL HIM!!!! SELL HIM!!! Da Laet > Ferdinand! |

Fabio and Valencia on the same flank ....;x
Scholes looks very annoyed with Nani slowing down the game with his fannying but a good cross for the goal. Nani off, Owen on, Rooney to the left. |

QUOTE(Hevrn @ Aug 16 2009, 10:33 PM) Rooney delivers again. Man of the match performance. Foster didn't put a foot wrong, and that save against Benitez ( It was a good save but you'd expect our other two keepers to be capable of making such saves as well. Rooney and Fletcher were our only bright sparks coming into the first game of the season. It'd be interesting to see whom we play Thursday morning - Park, Carrick, Rio all out of the squad and Evans and Nani taken off. I'd prefer Tosic to be given a shot in the starting 11 but I doubt we'd see much of him in the league. |

Really quite a shocking performance and I don't know who we can put the finger on. Granted we had a heck lot of injuries but our midfield was just horrible. Why wasn't Valencia starting? Granted, I did not think he set the world alight with his league debut but I thought that if he were going to be the spiritual successor to Ronnie, he ought to be playing the same minutes as him! And Owen starting? Really? I wasn't convinced then he was ready and still am not now. I'd have started Berbs.
First loss of the season to Burnley and that kind of performance from Anderson, Carrick, Park and Rooney is shocking. Shows how much we owe Darren Fletcher in midfield these days : / |

QUOTE(alien2003 @ Aug 20 2009, 05:06 AM) True. We no need to be so critical on Owen's performance yet. Yes, he played badly BUT so does most of the team just now. Of course he needs time but if he weren't ready.....Plus to be fair, this is only like his 2nd/3rd competitive matches for us. Playing in competitive matches is not the same like pre-season games so give him time. Anyway, I am off now and before I go, reminder: Do Not Feed The Troll [if any]. Use The Report Button and the moderator team will deal with it. I'm not going to win many fans here but I have mentioned in the past that I believe Gibson is a more consistent performer than Anderson and my opinion still has not swayed one bit. And yes, this is a long-time belief I had even before today's stinker. Well, on the plus side, we now know Carrick can't be assigned penalties....or we've got the obligatory penalty miss away so Carrick will practice to perfection and won't miss another spot-kick again. |

QUOTE(Wan @ Aug 28 2009, 11:38 PM) You think it's right that Eduardo got a suspension over his 'supposed dive'? I think the GK got a slight touch on him, but he surely made the most of it. But I think it's a good start. If let's say a player clearly fell down without anybody touching him, then they can start banning the player for a few games. That would sent out a message to the would be divers not to do it, or at least made them think twice before diving. It's the only way to curb the diving really. Right now they get away without punishment almost. Also referee seems to pick and choose who they want to book for diving. We can see lots of instances where a player falls down, but got told by the referee to get up, but for some others they would get booked straight away. TBF, I saw the match live and I was fuming with rage because I thought he robbed us the chance of having a proper match but making an example out of him is equally unfair. Start on a clean slate. |
