I went to Maybank site and saw they do charge if you wish to replace your card (stolen/lost).

However, my case is I have been using my card for 3 years+ and recently I found out a bit crack on the chip but still readable by the ATM machines. I guess it must be heavily used and I usually put it inside wallet.

Anyone can help me to confirm this? Whether they charge for replacing old card.

Thanks in advance.

RM1x. Charged directly to account.

A couple of months+ ago.

I don't think they'll give discount for wear, tear reason.

Could be.

I was charged for a complete opposite reason. Changing from that new DC to the old yellow-ish ATM card only.

The cracked chip is not due to wear and tear. It's because you sat on it. If you have cards in your wallet, don't sit on it.

Step 2, find a woman who carries a handbag. This can be a friend or a relative. Ask to see their IC and credit card. Compare their state to your own. You'd find their's are in almost pristine condition. As if they were just issued yesterday. Although they've been carrying those cards around with them all the time for the past 10 years, they still look like new. That is how you take care of your cards.

You will be charged RM12 should you really need to get a replacement ATM card.

That's so true. Most guys usually put their wallet behind (basically on their bum laugh.gif ).

Certain credit cards are valid for 5 years rclxub.gif For example, my now-cancelled supplementary CIMB Bank Gold Mastercard.

Anyways, if you get the Maybank cherry VISA Debit card, it is valid for 7 years and when it expires, it will be replaced at no extra cost.

I tried my Maybank Visa Debit Cherry card at the petrol pump today. Transaction failed. Do I need to activate it or anything first? I've never used the Visa Debit before and I have sufficient funds in my account.

Any ideas?

Now I am confused, some said must pay RM 12 even for Visa Debit. Which branch you changed your card? Are you sure they never direct deduct from your account?

Yeah. Many people seem to give different answer. As far as i am concerned, both Maybank and CIMB Bank will not ask you to pay for the ATM card. Instead they will deduct the fee from your bank account. Public Bank on the other hand, will deduct RM8 from your account only for renewal. Usually when you apply for PB ATM card or request for a replacement, they will ask you to pay for the fee in cash directly to the customer service personnel attending you.

I forgotten my Maybank ATM pin and my card was blocked after entering PIN more than the required times. Can I replace the ATM card at any Maybank branches or I have to back to my original branch in which account opened ?

Sorry for raising this old thread, but it's relevant.

If you do replace your ATM/Debit Visa card, do you still keep the old card number? Or do you have to remember a new number?

Cheers

I guessed as much, but it doesn't hurt to hope right?

Nuuu.... LoL.. I have a nice ATM card number, lots of doubles, lots of 2s and 8s!... LOL

I know that you keep the same number when your card renews.

Thanks. I'll expect it to change then. Oh well. smile.gif

First of all, you're changing from a ATM card to a ATM+Visa Debit card. Definitely, it requires a change of card number.

No offence.

If you're replacing an existing ATM+Visa Debit with an ATM+Visa Debit due to card/chip defect, there's a chance that you may keep the existing card number.

A replacement card for credit card does not change the card number but not so sure for ATM+Visa Debit or debit card itself.

Perhaps you may share your findings later in here.

Yes. He can but he will need to specifically request for it before his current ATM/VISA debit card expires. This is applicable only for Maybank VISA debit card. Not sure how it's like for Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card.

Not saying it is peanuts, more like, it's a lesson learned.. lol.. Every little bit counts!

But no point crying over it, what happened, has happened. So it's more like, oh well.. better be more careful next time.

Edit: Yeah.. I guess somehow I thought it was just a simple phone call to them for a reset. Oh well.

Last time I forgotten my PIN for my CIMB ATM.

Then, I opted to close the BSA since I seldom use that account.

After 1 year (I think), I opened a new BSA at another branch. tongue.gif

I understand that you may request for a new replacement card bearing the exact same numbers only if your existing card has expired but yours hasn't, has it ? And you want to get a replacement card because you card is spoiled right ? I am not sure if you are able to keep the same card numbers if this is the case. Do keep us posted.

Hmm, actually Maybank waived my ATM card replacement fee one year ago. I went back to the home branch (D.Utama) where I opened the account. I asked if it possible to waive the fee and the customer relation officer from priority counter said no problem. Guess I am lucky. blush.gif

if you're a private banking customer it is free or charge
it used to be like that now not sure unless a new private banking customer who has lost his card can confirm this
however, the orange card is no longer issued. the bank is aiming for visa debit for everyone.

if we not wish to use the visa debit function, would it be okay just to replace the faulty ATM card to the black + yellow version instead of maybank cherry. a bit paranoid of linking savings to visa function. i know we can put the limit to zero for visa transaction

Which Maybank ATM card you have?

Yellow card or cherry card?

The cherry card is a debit-cum-ATM card and therefore it has expiry date.
