FRESH allegations have cropped up against Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) president Datuk Joshua Peter Tan, who is currently embroiled in a controversy within the association.
Landlady Tan Kek Fong, 43, from Shah Alam, alleged that Tan had failed to pay the monthly rent for her apartment unit at Tudor Court, Taman Ampang Jaya, for the last three years.
Kek Fong claimed to have appealed to him countless times to either move out or pay the rent but he allegedly refused. Frustrated, she lodged a police report at the Ampang Jaya station on April 29, 2006 before filing for a claim at the Ampang Sessions Court.

Kek Fong won the case, but on Nov 23, 2006, allegedly struck back to sue her for RM50,000 for renovation works she claimed to have not approved. The charges by Tan were allegedly dropped on June 12 this year.
"However, until this day, I still have yet to see a single sen from him. As of July this year, he owes me RM22,960 in rent and he has also failed to pay for the utility bills too. I am at my wits' end as Tan has been living in my apartment for free.
"I bought the unit as a means to finance myself but as long as he does not move out or pays his dues, I am prevented from reaping the fruits of my investment," said Kek Fong, adding that she had her lawyers serve letters to Tan to instruct him to vacate the unit but that were allegedly ignored.
Meanwhile, Tan Bee Keow, 32, from Jinjang Utara claimed that she, an allegedly former girlfriend of Tan, was prevented from seeing her son as she had refused to withdraw complaints on fraud lodged with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) against him.
Bee Keow, who claimed to have given birth to Tan's son in December 2003, also claimed that the couple never registered their "marriage" as Tan had allegedly informed her that he could not do so due to financial constraints and as "his divorce with his wife was still in the process".
"Even when he told me that he was a bankrupt, I never once suspected anything but continued to be the one financing our lives and even going as far as to agree to be named a director for his travel company. I only suspected something was amiss when I found text messages on his phone from another woman.
"I did my own investigations and found out that he also has a son with the woman, who had previously been listed as his company's director," claimed Bee Keow, adding that she was de-listed as a director after one month.
Claiming that she needed time to sort out her problems, Bee Keow went back to her parents' home in Malacca, leaving her son with Tan.
In the few days that she was gone, Tan had allegedly went to the newspapers to report her as a missing person to get her to return home but she no longer wanted to live with him and moved out of their rented apartment, which coincidentally belongs to Kek Fong.
"I also sought the help of a lawyer to gain custody of my son but without my knowledge, Tan had already beaten me to it and had obtained a court order to gain full custody of my son. I was unable to appear in court because Tan had deliberately sent the court summons to his address, signed it by forging my signature
and claiming that I have already received the summons so that he will get the order with my absence.
"So not only have I lost custody of my son, I have to also pay maintenance of RM500 per month to him," claimed Bee Keow, adding that despite having an interim order to see her son twice a month, Tan had always defaulted the order by failing to turn up for meetings with her son.
Then for reasons unknown, Bee Keow claimed that Tan had again forged her signature and had her re-listed as the director for his travel company on July 31, 2006, to which she claimed to have lodged reports with CCM and the police on Dec 12 and 16 respectively.
Bee Keow also claimed that she was in hot soup with creditors as Tan was alleged to have forged her signature on Nov 11, 2008 and named her as guarantor for five hire purchase agreements, amounting to RM500,000.
"Not only am I denied the right to see my son, I am also being chased by the banks to pay up the amount that Tan owes them. I am only a secretary and cannot afford to pay the payments, which I never signed in the first place," she alleged.

Malay Mail was alerted on the allegations of the two women by safety activist K. Balasupramaniam, who is part of a non-governmental network that assists women with all kinds of plights.
Motivated by the women's stories to find out more about the man's background, Balasupramaniam discovered
that Tan allegedly had never been awarded a Datukship by the Negri Sembilan royalty, as claimed.
"Looking at the documents saved by the women, I discovered discrepancies pertaining to how Tan spelt out his title. Sometimes he would spell it as Dato' and other times, Datuk. If you had legitimately received the award, you should know better as to how your title should be spelt," he said.
A letter dated July 27, 2009 from the Negri Sembilan State secretariat revealed that Tan was never awarded
the Datukship title by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar. The letter was signed by the State's head assistant secretary for the committee management and protocol unit.
On Aug 4, Malay Mail reported that Matta is standing firm on its current executive council lineup despite
allegations of phantom voters and a vote of no confidence against the new president and his deputy.
Tan had refuted the claims made by former exco members, calling them "untrue and invalid" and that "the exco lineup will remain intact until the Registrar of Societies decides otherwise following results of their investigation or if we are served with a court order to do so".
