Iris gets ready for smart village
KUALA LUMPUR: In a long term view to supply talents to implement its smart village template, Iris Corp Bhd has partnered with Federation University Australia and Stamford College to provide courses related to food security and construction.

“As we introduce the smart village template to other parts of the world, we need more people who have the skill sets to build the houses using our Iris-Koto industrialised building system as well as setting up sustainable farms based on our integrated farming methodologies and AutoPot systems,” its managing director Datuk Tan Say Jim said after the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MoU),

A smart village template, applied in Iris’ Rimbunan Kaseh in Sentuhan Kaseh projects, consists of a comprehensive plan that includes affordable housing, recreational facilities and an integrated, sustainable farm for the community.

He said the tie-up would allow the company to share its innovations and knowledge with the students.

The courses would be endorsed by Federation University Australia, which would then be structured and delivered by Stamford College.

The partnership, however, would not have financial impact on the company as it is still undergoing a litigation process to acquire a 51% stake in Stamford College.

“The case is not resolved yet,” Tan said without elaborating.

Iris had entered into agreements with Stamford College to buy 51% in two colleges for RM2.5mil in October 2012.

In February 2013, it received a writ of summons from Stamford College as the vendor claimed that it had not received the remaining acquisition consideration of RM2.25mil from the buyer and demanded 5% interest per annum due to that.

The MoU also involves the introduction of Higher Education 1Malaysia, whereby 64 openings are available for students to apply for foundation level at Stamford College in the next intake for RM1.

Students who choose to transfer to another institution after the first year will have to pay the standard foundation courses fee of RM13,440.

After the foundation level, Stamford College would assist students with their National Higher Education Fund Corporation loan applications.

Stamford College also signed a memorandum of agreement with Federation University Australia for a 10-year collaboration.

Really ? But today Iris dropped 1/2 cent.

i personally think dropping a half cent actually bringing back the confidence to buy higher again instead, because people think correction is not actually that bad / the correction is done
