QUOTE(dwin95 @ Dec 16 2009, 10:11 PM) the difference: undisturbed sleephamsters are nocturnal, thus being very active at night. the cheap ones can get really noisy as the wheel and stub rubs against each other. It can be temporary fixed by applying cooking oil (safer then machine oil if consumed) on the stub before inserting it into the wheel. be sure to wipe off excess oil as the hamsters will lick them. cheaper alternatives is to put the hamsters far away from your bedroom. |

Like Snoopie said, never under the hot sun. |

I've let two fully grown hamsters (who have never met each other) mix and play for a few hours, a pearl winter white and an unknown black dwarf twice the size of the WW. they got along just fine. no biting, no running around chasing each other. there's lots of sniffing around and they eventually cuddle up together at the corner of the pen.
It was just a social visit for the hamsters when I bring my WW to my gf's place for the holidays. I guess some hamsters are exceptionally friendly. |

QUOTE(serene1314520 @ Jan 15 2010, 09:19 AM) please help...my hamster eat so few...and didnt drink water 1.......i very worried of them...i just bought few day day from sunway pet shop...and the hamster type are pied...i saw the pet shop give them eat oat as their meal...do i need to get the same ??? cause i bought hamster food for them...help me please... hi serene, for starters, get a variety of food, like sunflower seed, oats, those bulk packed green pellets and even alfalfa grass. experiment around and see if your hamster is eating again. you should also check its cheek pouch. if there's food in it, then there's nothing much to worry about. also, hamsters that live solitary tend to eat less and doesn't scramble for food when you put food into their bowl. especially for my family of winter whites. younger hamsters, especially when they live in a group of 3 or more will rush for food and compete with one another. they will also stuff their cheek pouch full of food. drinking habits differ from one hamster to another. some drink more some drink less. what you should be worried about is excessive drinking which could be a sign of a diabetic hamster. they should be perfectly fine with normal water bottles. but I use this: http://www.petshack.com.my/webshaper/store...ProductItem=531 for my brood. easier access for a group of hamsters living together. |
