QUOTE(Ohiki @ Mar 29 2011, 09:07 AM)
Anyone want meal worm beattle ? I have 6... don't know how to breed them and find it troublesome to always check them to find eggs and separate them.

Saw them always one on top of the other so I think got mix of both sexes...

If no one want them I'll clean them up before feeding them to my hamster.
*
Haha... I got the whole tupperware full of them only.
Is it necessary to separate them?

Wah...so happy to see newborn babies?

For me,i phobia d...
Each time after i see newborn babies, i will be having headache where to put them...
Having 4 cages but still not enough...
1st cage put 2 parents + 5 newborn babies
2nd cage put 2 males from second batch
3rd cage put 1 female from second batch
4rd cage put 3 males 3 female from third batch

TOTAL 16 hamsters!!!

Now having problem to give them away d.
Seems like my location is not so convenience for them to get adopted. sad.gif

Yea, my hamsters like mealworms very much too.
But i feed them once every 2-3 days.

My feeding schedule is almost the same with others.
Refill the bowls when it's almost empty.
Then maybe Sunday feed them fresh vege, Tuesday/Wednesday mealworms, Friday fresh vege...sometime like that la...

Don't think so.
Better buy those super premium hamster food from petshop.
+ some fresh vege or mealworm to keep them healthier.

Added on April 4, 2011, 11:59 pmBtw, does anyone here having experience of breeding mealworms?

Most of my mealworms has turned into beetles and some of the beetles died.

I'm wondering, should i separate the beetles from the mealworms or it is ok to let them stay inside together?

Gonna need more mealworms for my little hamsters which are growing up very fast. tongue.gif

yesterday played with the young one... wow.. they grow quite fast also hmm
already learn to eat vitac., where to drink ...

tried to place one of the young one with father again ... this time seems like the young one kena bullied... put it back with its mum..
in that case.. wondering... i need to separate them ?

- 1 cage leaving mum and father  (*if they are not fighting again)
- 1 cage - for the young one only ?
*
Well, usually what i did is keep the father and mother together. (The mother will only remain calm when father is around)
Then separate the young one into another cage until they are around 5-6 weeks old.
Then after that, separate the young one into male and female.

hi cyberheross... when the young one ald 5/6 weeks, does that means we can put them together with father / mother ? Or should i separate them into male female ?

*
When the young one reached 3 -4 weeks, you should separate them from the parents as the parents might bully them. smile.gif
As 3-4 weeks, the gender is not so obvious yet.
But if you can determine clearly, you could separate them into male female.
But best to wait until 5 - 6 weeks to determine the genders la. thumbup.gif

You can try soaking the mineral stone inside the food package so that the stone having the food smell.
They will bite awhile la...
But after that they won't bother it anymore. biggrin.gif
