what kind of wheel are u using? if those good branded silent wheel...like the one i m using...it can be attached to the metal bar cage or can stand it...if u see the plastic of the wheel that u attach to the metal bar...below there got two holes....if u got the stand u can attach it to the wheel so the wheel can stand...i m not sure if they got sell the stand separately or not...u have to check hopefully got la.....but if u using other kind of wheel...then i dont know...maybe modify it ...or just buy a new silent wheel...

he gonna travel with its cage? if yeah then try put extra bedding & few of its favorite food....& try to avoid to shake a lot....should be a problem....but if he going to travel with a smaller container then maybe hamster will stress out...coz smaller environment & different....if so try to put bedding & its favorite food also..if he is very tame try to confort him during the journey but be very careful so that it dont escape....better try not to remove it la....scared later if he escape...then big trouble... try wait for other sifu to ans u also...hahaha good luck.....

if its a syrian hamster then u dnt have to put bottle water....they can tahan one....if other hamster i m not that sure but i think six hour is ok la...hamster dont drink much tho....just try to fed him water before going to travel...if he eats cucumber then can put a small piece in there....when reach home already just put the bottle water...if its thirsty sure run to bottle water one

but i think its much better if u get some plastic container that can see through one....put him in there much better...coz light can enter in it...& can see how its condition....if those paper beg just scared not much light enter then later when its shaking it might get scared....imagine us at night suddenly our room shaking plus some hamster very smart...they can chew through....later scared escape....& if he pee.....wahahaha u know la...paper cardboard sure get wet one....anyways just make sure u have enough small holes for it to get enough air & try put him 1hr before travel so that he get used to the new environment....dont worry sure ok one.....

i got a normal syrian hamster....should be the same la....syrian is best for first time...its the best hamster coz u can easily tame it. fed with hamster food...right now vitakraft is the best brand i found so far...u can fed fruits & veg too...but not a lot la...try to google about which u can fed & cant...i remember choc & cabbage, lettuce is bad for hamster....caring is easy....when u get ur hamster let it in its cage for around 2days....let it get used to the new environment...then after that u can open its cage & hold food with ur finger....(best to fed sunflower seed as treat)...or other favourite food that it like...u can see what it eat first from the food bowl....that will be what he like the most try not to force it to eat or bring ur hand all the sudden close to it....just put it near the cage door...let it come to u & smell...after 1-2days...then u can start touching it...let it climb on ur hand inside the cage....let it get used to ur hand smell...after it is used to it already u can carry it...but becareful...it might get scared & jump off....but syrian dont usually do that la...very easy to tame them....

caring is easy...just monitor its health...fresh food & water is good enough already....& provide good hamster bedding...oh ya try to get a good big wheel...for it to exercise...i usually let it roam in my room at night...hahaha its very easy for syrian hamster...good luck....try google a few info...there are useful if u want to know more....but many are already covered in this thread....i try keep it short coz i m going out soon...hehe

hahaha yeah but its quite big already...cage quite small already...want to buy new cage but then room very tight already not much space got already....just now went to sunway...got 1 robo very funny...keep running & falling upside down then it wakes up & repeat the same thing & fall down upside down again...hahaha very funny....

anyways yeah thats my opinion.....hamster are very curious creature....even at night if there is sudden noise my hamster will go into "freeze mode" hahaha...even when he eating if my ambi pur auto spray he will stop eating & look around...

no problem...i m new to hamster too many pet shop i went they dont sell syrian hamster...dont know why i always see winter white & robo. maybe coz syrian hamster like to live alone so they then need to place 1 hamster in 1 cage & it might cost the shop alot or something.... anyway good luck with finding one....just remember hamster is active at night....hahaha thats y i always sleep late..want to play with it...

if u going to get a syrian hamster u might want to invest a bit for future on its cage, a bigger size....coz they tend to grow quite big(mine is the size of my razer lachesis mouse already ) & cage space become tighter....& if u got those metal bar cage....when it start to grow then it might start biting the metal....if u put in ur room it might then be hard to sleep it will start biting.

congratz on ur new hamsters....for a baby hamster i guess its ok for now...but later when it starts to grow bigger then u might need to change cage already....how old is both ur hamsters? coz syrian cannot stay together...they might fight & die....for baby one i m not that sure la...but soon when u get another cage better separate it la about the tube....i m not so sure also about that particular cage....u try compare the tube with the pic i posted in the previous page....my hamster can go through my tubes fine...& he even store food in it but hamster can squeeze in tight space....

u can buy a normal water bottle & hang it with a thin metal wire....ummm try not to put so much food....coz he wont be able to eat that much in 1 day so its better not to put so much coz later the food wont stay fresh, topping up daily is good u can even hand fed him his favorite food when u top up......a recommended cage size for a syrian hamster is 75cm x 40 cm x 40 cm.....they say its not recommended for long hair syrian to use wheel coz the fur can get stuck....but if u are able to find a good wheel which u think the fur wont get stuck then it should be ok....thats all the basic needs la....u can add some chewing toys...like chewing wood, if u like to train it to pee in a toilet u can get one...but first find out which conner he pees....

if u like to modify things...u can turn that tank into a great tank by adding second layer & stuff like that....oh ya btw when its fur gets long...u need to brush it

i m also new...but i read a lot web's & forum.... last time i saw a pic in some web...the guy made a very nice tank...but now dont know where already....cant seem to find it.....

toilet trian syrian is easy....1st u figure out which conner he pees.....after that....u buy a toilet & place there & add the toilet litter inside(usually its given in the box when u buy the toilet). that can last about 1 week if he dont pee so much. after adding it the litter inside...carry the wet bedding that he pee on it & put inside the toilet, make sure other places bedding is clean....main objective here is to put the smell in the toilet so that he knows that is the place to pee....

& thats how u train it....some hamster might take a long time to train some might be fast...depends....u have to be patient....but once trained already it makes ur life easier....coz u can change the toilet litter when a lot pee is absorbed already so there will be less smell in ur cage. but remember u can only toilet train for pee, he will still poo around ur cage....mine even poo in the tubes....some hamster eat their poo to digest their food so its normal....

mine took 3days to train but mine was easier coz when i was cleaning the cage i put him in a container & he pee in there so i just use tissue to absorb all & put in the toilet...btw try to buy a good toilet litter coz some got scented smell some hamster might not like the smell so wont enter in there then....also good quality one will absorb the pee properly & wont have any pee smell......& dont get confused with toilet litter & sand bath.....

too late....hahaha just 2days ago there was a guy selling 2 syrian hamster & the whole set (including food, bedding wheel, cage etc) just for rm50....he sold it already well i m from that area & so far i never seen any petshop selling syrian hamster, been to carrefour, petshack, pet shop in sunway pyramid (4got the name) all of that places dont sell any. not sure if there is any petshop left in this area that sells hamster but from all the shop i know non sells syrian hamster.

but jxplod said there are petshop at his area in kl that sells syrian hamster...maybe u could ask him the address.....or maybe u can ask him to help u buy & buy some of his aroma room scent & cod somewhere hahaha just saying....u try contact him frist....good luck in finding one

what type is ur hamster winter white? if want to mix just make sure ur cage is big enough. i m not sure if buying the liquid will work or not...but u can give it a shot...just make sure u change the cage position & the stuff in it in a different position so that the hamster might think its a new place. just keep an eye on them when u change already coz some hamster just like to fight. just like us humans....some are just very angry always

last few days i saw a guy thread in pet store selling winter white hamsters....he even uploaded a video of the hamsters....u can check it out. & about different colours i m not so sure...have to wait for those who got experience to reply....but i guess colours wont be a problem la since hamster cant see properly also...

i think that is mix breed...some people say there might be health problems due to the genetic change etc....but i m not sure....i already got syrian...not planning to get any atm...

& about that...my hamster i m not sure...sometimes he collect it & put in the house & sleep with it...then sometimes he will fill everything into the house & not sleep in it... its like sometimes he like it in his cage & sometimes he hate it...if u want at the pet shop in sunway pyramid got sell a different type of bedding, its like round pellets, never try it before so i m not sure but i see the pet shop use that for their hamster beeding....

recently bought apple wood for him to chew....he seem to love it...i think he thinks that is food...he bring it up to his tube with his food

actually its normal. when hamster is bored they will bite the cage, mine does that too but will stop after a while. usually he will sit up near his tube & stare at me. then i will take him out & play give some treats & let him walk around my room. when i put back in he will rush to come out but when i close he will start biting the cage & climb around like spiderman

its normal...let him get used to the place first...after 1-2days he will be used to it already. btw today u no need sleep early after 12am he should be very active already....if not maybe he is very tired....

since u buy from another forumer it might be tamed already...not so sure tho...so it will get used to ur hand easily...later night u can try give him some sunflower seed...he will sure love it...can fed with hand since it didnt bite u first time

& about the bottle water...just try to make the tip wet & u can put a drop of water on ur finger near to the tip so that he knows where to get the water....u can fed him cucumber if u scared he didnt get enough water...my hamster love carrot, almond & sunflower seed...hahaha dont know bout urs...u can try & see what he like....
