At 1st they seem ok.. The old hammy seem quite frighten when suddenly the new hammy join him. The new hammy kept on approaching the old 1 & kept smell at him.. & finally the old 1 bei tahan give a fight with the new 1 causing the new 1 to bleed.. Well of course the new 1 bleed coz my old hammy are lot more bigger in size.. Now already separated them but already put a mesh between them already.. Should i try to introduce once again after 1week separate them?
*
i think its best to let the other hammy to fully recover first...let some fur grow back too....should be more than 1week....maybe 2-3 weeks? hmm.gif

Sign.. i'm so sad.. shouldn't buy him at the 1st place.. make him suffer only.. I really dun know what cause the fighting. They seem fine at 1st then not long they fight already.. I make them bath at the bathing sand togather to get the scents that time they both at the bathroom no fight also. Yup now the small 1 at his hse didn't dare to come out mayb he need some rest from his injury while the old hammy still so happily run here & there. After the small de recover what should i do to make them friend?
*
huhuhu no need to feel sad la...things like this happens. we dont really know the outcome...usually when put new hamster have to constantly keep an eye on them at least 1week....if i m not mistaken la...well for now just let the injured hamster be on his/her own. just make sure the hammy is eating & drinking well. u separate them but still in the same cage right? i m not sure how to make them friends, cant recall anything but after the hamster recover already u can take them both out & play with them. maybe they will get used to each other like that too....

i have two species of hamsters...1 syrian and 2 winter white...they r in d same cage and it's been 4 months i breed them and they seems to get along well...none of them bleed since they all newly introduced each other. seriously. i used habitrail cage and have done extension to gv space for syrian alone, while the 2 winter white hammies lived together in another space...i know there have been saying that it's not a good idea to mix different breed...i'm prepared for what may happen later [e.g : fight, babies, etc] buy buying extra medium cage.
*
i dont think its a good thing to mix syrian with ww. eventho they dont fight, maybe just 'not yet'.....coz syrian living habit is different. & also its best to separate the syrian from the ww in order to avoid mix bread. mix breeding is very very bad, there are some health issues i heard. jxplod should explain u properly coz i didnt do much reading on breeding...hehehe not planning to breed. well its better to avoid something that we predict that can occur la...who knows later the babies might come out some kind of alien figure....i dont mean what i say la...but its just better to avoid something that is not good smile.gif

sad.gif  today my female ww the one i exile her to a smaller cage because she bite my male ww.... when she saw my hand coming to open the cage she scream and won't let me touch or catch her...worst than before..... even dig into the bedding to hide herself when i take away her house and don't let her hide inside.....

i was trying to take her out and wipe her body because got yellow patch due to urine i think...

does hamster remember they are being put into exile and hold a grudge ???
*
what bedding are u using? how come the urine can stick to the fur rclxub.gif its good to introduce ur self again & just prepare to get bitten thumbup.gif

try to use only ur hand, without glove etc... especially those rubber material gloves...coz for some reason my hamster like to bite on rubber materials...bite my lan cable, my radio remote buttons & my unwanted toothbrush which i use to clean his toilet... rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(FirezZ @ Mar 18 2011, 08:09 AM)
as expected... yesterday i slept at living room (* doing some work while monitoring the hamsters)  and found out too quiet ... this morning.. saw 6 babies out .... 1 of them seem not moving... +_+
i separated the male to lower level of the cage and block the "tunnel up" tongue.gif
left the babies with their mum and put in some bedding, water, and food there...
the female looks still ok and sleep together with the young one.. but my concern ... will the cage becomes dirty for them to stay ? i read last time try not to touch the babies as scare the big one will eat them (when there is no such smell)
*
congratz....just follow what mortyfish said & the others thumbup.gif

I have a robo, almost 2++ years also already but all these while, he likes to scratch himself, not so furry and compared to the other robos, he looks quite thin. He's active but looks quite thin, not fat. Feeding him with seeds, green sticks, sometimes vege. Is it possible that he has fleas and made him lose weight? Or anything else?
*
hamster tend to lose little fur when they started aging....maybe he is getting old already. a hamster average age is usually 2years...if lucky can up to 3years. maybe he is just getting old thats y losing fur & getting thin.

its rare for hamster to get fleas...unless u got dog or other pets in house then maybe its possible. anyway just check his fur...if incase u found any fleas then u can buy fleas killing spray. u need to change bedding & clean the whole cage, then spray on the cage. i m not sure if u can spray on the hamster or not, that u have to read the instructions. & not many shops sells that spray anyway but i know it exist coz i read before online smile.gif

oh ya 4got to mention...there is also homemade fleas killer, last time i saw somewhere they got teach how to make for hamsters. but i would recommend to buy the spray first....if no choice then go for the homemade one. provided your hamster really got fleas la....if not better dont simply use...coz we dont know what are the effects to the hamster fur etc....u can bring to a vet maybe they can help u to check what is the problem, maybe they can check for fleas & if got then maybe they can recommend what product to use icon_rolleyes.gif

but the male wouldnt help take care the female? its her first batch...i scare she cant take care lol
*
its up 2 u...not all male hamster will help...depends on the hamsters & ur luck i guess.

if u want to play safe i think its better to seaprate the male from the cage. even if its her first time, instinct will take over....& if she thinks she really cannot handle so many babies she will eat the newly born hamster(maybe 1, 2 or all up to them)....its normal....it is just the way how hamster rolls so we gotta go with the flow & roll with them tongue.gif

Is hamster bite dangerous? Just got bitten..
*
You probably will end up in hospital with an infected hand....probably it will get swalon 2x the size of your normal hand.... laugh.gif laugh.gif no la...joking only...

hahaha yeah nothing to worry about, just wash & use those soap for wounds to kill any bacteria you get from your environment. usually hamster bite got no germs or bacteria, nothing to worry about.

they are poisonous and you will die in one hour. lol just kidding...its safer than my own bite.

hmmm quite sure tat oen dead...turn black. the other 2 is moving, just hope they survive. think one more might be in stomach. she keep moving around when milking

btw my friend asked me to remove the house cause he says his previous one the tiny hamster hidden behind somewhere and the mum forgotten and never care for that one @@
*
in my opnion i think its much better to keep the house....they & the mum will feel much safer that way....plus the mum will have less stress thinking of the baby safety if in the house rather than open right? incase if that 'case' happens we can always interact.....if special situation la....i think better remove the mum first....then put the forgotten baby inside the house without doing any damage or disturbing anything & then put back the mum....hopefully she wont notice whistling.gif whistling.gif

hahaha well its up 2 u guys la....

Came back from the Vet and my 2.5 yr old male Robo was having a moderate case of Demodex and given some medication. The basic consultation fee was RM20, the fur diagnosis under the microscope was RM10 and the medication was just RM2. The vet was very friendly and nice!

Hope my hamster is recovery soon and he really lost a lot of fur.
*
what is the medicine? just one time apply? btw where is the vet location hmm.gif sounds like a good vet....

usually petshop wont simply accept hamsters one....they scared later got health issue or any other issue. then if they mix with their hamster also later something happens...usually la those famous petshops. plus they got their own supplier. but maybe some small petshop might accept, no harm in asking biggrin.gif

may i know , does my hammies nid cooling pad ? the one with aluminum steel . as , sometimes , when i hangout out outside wit my friend . i close my room fan and window . i think its hot for them T.T
*
nope no need.....when i go uni...my mum will off everything...so the room gets quite hot in the afternoon.....when i come back i see he sleeping outside from his house/tube like dead already lol....i added a small steel weight on his house so that he wont be able to move it....sometimes i see he sleeps on there....maybe coz its more colder....so i think it depends...if the hamster wants to use it he/she will use it for more comfortable sleep....

i got a syrian hamster btw....so he is quite ok in hot weather flex.gif
