You can always turn down the volume of the sub if its too loud. But i personally think that most problem with sub not integrating well with the speakers is due to the poor quality of the sub. Overbassy normally happen when the sub is very boominess. But if you have a good quality sub that is clean and fast, you will want more of it instead of complaining that it is over bassy. Trust me that it is worth spending more on a good sub because it really improves the overall sound of the main speakers. I only learn about this when i got my new sub 2 weeks ago. Its the single most expensive piece of HT hardware i bought but it really makes night and day difference. Now i will not go back to those boomy sub anymore as they really sound like crap!
