Hi there!

Well, Bachata is a South American dance with origins from the Dominican Republic. Its basic steps has a count of 1,2,3 and 'hip' (walking to the right) and 5,6,7 and 'hip' (walking to the left)

Here's a demo for you :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79DF7vsTcXM&feature=related

And to answer your other questions :- Bachata Revolution is a series of workshops for all levels (as explained in my previous post), conducted by Juan Ruiz who is one of the world's most revered 'Kings of Bachata' and based in Sydney, Australia...

I hope this info has shed some light to your questions. Why don't you join us!! Call your friends!! There's nothing sexier than a guy who can move (assuming ur one, of course)! LOL

Hey,
Did some research and well yes Juan Ruiz is not just the revered king of bachata, he is also the founder of Bachata Moderna and the most informative online Bachata community site bachateros.com.au.

Bachata dance is essentially a sort of 'crab walk' dance where u step to the side. But bachata moderna there are more different footwork pattern. There are cross on1, on2 and on3 (the counts that we use when we dance). If you do know about dance, there are also shines in bachata that will add more flavour and cheekiness to it.

for those whom are already dancers

Girls need to learn the new footwork and new lead signals and system.

Guy need to learn how to lead the new footwork, learn new signals.

for those whom have yet started

Not to worry cos this will b a whole new thing to learn and experience. I have taken private lessons with Juan and it's an eye opener on the variations to 1 simple moves that will add so much more spiciness to the experience.

It's best to come in a couple as there are couple discounts. If you can't, coming alone is not an issue as the learning system will encourage the changing of partners to get a feel from different partners.
Note: These are social dances hence the changing of partners is much encouraged. If you are not comfortable with this, you can request to stay to you own partner throughout the session.

Do spread the word around as this event is to start this FRIDAY!

Jaymz - Bachata enthusiast (the converted...so can't wait to start dancing)
