Interns are benefiting from the experience far more from what the company can gain from your experience at the it.

Having said that, there are plenty companies out there which are far more professional with regards to providing an internship experience.
It is a medium for them to market themselves to students in order to up their reputation.

Unless someone makes a huge issue out of it, I am afraid majority of companies out there will continue to exploit interns.
