Hmm.. Still have some curiosity on the new PS3.. sweat.gif

1. Does PS3 slim have overheating problems? How long do you recommend me playing before flame starts to ignite on it?

2. I heard PS3 slim is way better that the fat one.. Is that true? Then, in what terms is it better that the fat version?
*
1. No... i can play over 16 hours in a non air-con room and it's still perfect. Just make sure u don't put in somewhere where there's no ventilation e.g. cupboard.

2. BS.... The only thing Slim is better is the price and uglier

Crying for some help.
I've just got a 500G WD Scorpio HDD [2.5" SATA]

Had done a backup to another external HDD
Then proceed to replace the HDD, removing the stock 80G to the 500G
However, when i switch on the power, received the below stupid screen

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The drive had been initialized and format using Swissknife, FAT 32 (quick format).

anyone experience this before? can offer any advice?

You must put the System Software into a thumbdrive/external HDD with a folder PS3 with a subfolder UPDATE in it.

Download the firmware update file from Sony website and put inside.

When the screen come up, insert the USB device.

Sharing my 2 sen.

We got our PS3Slim last Monday from GH in Tropicana City Mall. Since then we've been experiencing 2-10 second blackouts from the PS3 due to loss of signal through the HDMI port. After physical checking, we found that the PS3 was really hot, but then that's probably because I placed it where our DVD player used to be on the TV console with no air circulation and it got real warm in there. So awhile ago we moved it to the top shelf and placed it on a notepad cooler powered thru the USB and we haven't got a single issue with blackouts throughout our 2-hour FIFA10 session, and hopefully that the problem would stay away.

So here's a question: now that the PS3 is on a notebook cooler, it is now angled downwards on the front. Would this cause any issue?

the best word is = place your playstation 3 at well ventilation position , never ever put it inside the cabinet etc which is lack of air circulation.. icon_rolleyes.gif

yeah, u can play using the Dell 24-inch S2409W, but the sound is a bit sucks ><
so it is better if u use the av cable for sound, HDMI for video whistling.gif

find something else to "lift/level" the notebook cooler. i place 2 chinese chess pieces on my cooler so that the PS3 is "flat" rather than angled icon_idea.gif

guys, i want to ask something. I got a set of home theater and one hdmi cable. Normally its very hassle for me to switch from watching dvd to ps3. Because i have to unplug the hdmi cable. For now, i connect my ps3 to lcd tv via hdmi cable for video. And im using composite cable to connect to the dvd player(audio source).

Question : Is that possible for me to sync them under ONE HDMI cable? Audio using the composite cable isnt that great though.

I think just use HDMI cable for video and audio , then at the back of the LCD TV im sure there is digital audio output , then plug in Optical cable to your home theather system..done..
