i dont think ps3 will explode anytime soon (u believe one, instead of many ps3 users out there enjoying their games)... as for ylod on slim... too soon... the new ps3 still considered quite good compared to old ones

u just need a good place for the ps3...

as im thinking to get ps3 at the end of this month. (hopefully. ) i need some info for my ps3 setup.

as i dont hv big tv but would like to enjoy HD, im thinking to grap lcd monitor which come with hdmi support. right? (can suggest some lcd brand? )

second, does ps3 only come with stereo analog output? in order to enjoy 5.1 sound need to hv speaker digital input/output? cos my speaker only support 5.1 analog input. no digital input/output.

is there some kind of way to use my speaker? becos i dont think i hv enough budget to buy new speaker with digital input. perhaps is there any converter?

1. I used Samsung T240 24" LCD monitor which supports HDMI/DVI/VGA input. Picture quality is great, and so far I didn't encounter any problems.

2. No, the analog audio output on the PS3 is only in stereo via the RCA Red/White cable output. Unfortunately, the only option you have is only the optical audio out in order for your 5.1 amp to be able to decode and segregate the 5.1 audio channels.

anyone here facing some loud sound sort of 'tak tak'
in the time interval of every 5 sec or more.
this problem will appear when i'm playing inFamous or uncharted 2.
air con is on, i don't see any overheating issue.

mine is slim version.
anyone experience this thing?

...i dunno if this applies to the ps3.... but my old ps2 (phat) when the lens was dying it made a tak tak tak sound then games would hang and then ps2 kaput.
