I will give my prediction on all other teams...

Liverpool:
Previously thought they would be a strong contender but as for now, I predict may not do that well compare to last season unless there are some massive reinforcement for the loss assets

Chelsea:
Strong contender but may not win the title this season.

Manchester City:
Will have a lot of players' morality issue of not being able to play in first team. Spiky has a lot of works to be done to manage all the players.

Everton:
Will still be an improved team but may not achieve the same rank as last season.

Arsenal:
Still a strong team but Will have consistency problem of keep winning to cope for top places with the current competitiveness of BPL.

note: This is only a prediction and is pure based on personal views & are not against any team. Everyone is free to air their views on anything (in a good manner).

Thats actually not giving a prediction on other teams, more like predicting your own team(Man U).
You could simply sum up the above post with a line as so:
Predictor Uno: Man United is going to win the BPL.

Another star foreign player will use the excuse of "I hate the English weather/ My missus wants me to move/ Playing for (insert team name here) has always been my dream" to want a move away to "greener" (the color of the bills?) pastures abroad.

Alright lets end the arguement. TS has his views and i respect them. notworthy.gif

Good topic... But perhaps people reserve their comments to avoid offending anyone...?

Anyway, here are some of mine (I'm an Arsenal fan btw):

Prem Title: Liverpool
Statistically, they should have won last year if Gerrard and Torres were fit. If they keep hold of the squad, I think they will be odds on to win. If they don't... well you cannot possibly rule out Man Utd despite losing CRon.

Champs League spots: Same old same old.
As someone mentioned, Man City may face problems with their big squad. On the flip side, Villa may face problems with their small one. Year after year, I always feel that Spurs may pose a threat, but year after year I worry for nothing. But this year with ol 'Arry on board, they may be darkhorses.

Relegation Candidates
Burnley and Wolves to go back down (Wolves for no reason other than the top team from Championship always goes down!). Possibly Hull as well.

Player of the Year: Arshavin!!!
Ok slight bias here. But this guy is really something. If we were to challenge this year, you can bet your bottom dollar that we will depend heavily on the Russian. While I'm a bit pessimistic about our title chances, I think we will still be in the top 4 and his performances will play a key role.

Best Signing Michael Owen...?
Ideally, I should wait till the end of the window for this... But so far, there hasn't been a transfer to the prem that made everyone stand up and take notice. So I'll just go for Owen, who'll probably get a decent amount of goals... And he cost nothing too!

Worst Signing: Adebayor!!
Ok slight bitterness here. But 25 mio is a lot of money. Having said that, Roque Santa Cruz may struggle as well, as his record only shows one good year in Blackburn.

First Managerial Casualty
Probably one of the promoted clubs. Possibly also that guy Hart at Pompey. If Man City fails to break the top 4, expect Mark Hughes to be shown the exit door.

Others
1) Much closer race to the La Liga, but Barca to nick the title.
2) Don't watch much Serie A so I'll just tembak... er... Juventus?
3) World Cup winners.... England!... Ok I'm not much of a comedian... maybe Germany because Germany will always be GERMANY during tournaments.

Manchester United related:
1) Berbatov will be United Player of the Season - Unless he hits 35 goals at least he's not gonna stand a chance. Not many United fans rate him and he'll have to be Berbatastic to even be considered
2) Rooney will be played on the left at least ONCE during the course of the season - If Owen and Berba clicks
3) van der Sar will stay for ONE more season after Sir Alex discovers Ben Foster is Saha II and PIG is crap - We'll probably sign a quality keeper if Foster or PIG doesnt make the cut next summer. Akinfeev?
4) United will sign one more player. - I'm betting on this as well. Prob another last minute Berba swoop.
5) Michael Owen will notch up + 10 league goals - I'm hoping for 10 in all competitions. Anything extra will be bonus.
6) Commentators will mention how much we miss Ronaldo and Tevez after failing to score in a high profile match. - Community Shield, when we miss a sitter. You can bet ur house on one of them going, "Oh... Ronaldo would have buried that."
7) United will win a domestic cup with kids. - Milk Cup!
8) Michael Owen will be boo-ed at Anfield - As will Tevez in Old Trafford most likely, or Adebayor and Toure at the Emirates. City games will be loud smile.gif
9) Giggs and Neville will sign ANOTHER contract extension while Scholes joins Oldham. - Giggs yes. Neville maybe not. Scholesy to score a screamer in a big game at the tail end. He scores goals galore, he scores goals.

General football related:
1) Marca will 'reveal' that Madrid teammates are frustrated at Ronaldo's selfishness - Ronaldo will no longer need to say "I'm very confidence" to the media.
2) Arsenal will finish above Liverpool *(if Alonso does leave) - Depends on who beats United twice.
3) Newcastle sacks another manager - Has Shearer even been sacked yet? The spirit of Sir Bobby will lift them back up.
4) Carlos Tevez will sit on the bench at least 7 games throughout the course of the league season - But wouldn't say a word.
5) Michael Owen will get called up by England National Team - If he stays fit.
6) England will get knocked out by penalties. - In the quarter finals. smile.gif
7) Both United and Madrid do not make it pass the semi finals of Champions League - All Italian final?
8) Inter to face Barca at the finals of the Champions League. - See above.
9) Quieroz gets the sack. - And returns to assist Sir Alex
10) Manchester City finishes below Everton - And Villa
11) One ex-Tottenham player will rejoin Tottenham. - Carrick? O.o
12) The England National Team will include at least 2 players who have less than 10 caps (possibly Welbeck and Wilshere or Foster) - And not use them at all.
13) Almunia will openly reveal that he wouldn't mind playing for England....again. - But Capello doesn't bother to comment.
14) One player will reveal how he rejected City's approaches. - And say that money is not his main motivation, before signing an improved deal at his current club.
*
Opinions in bold.

If he plays like last season (or even preseason. Did you guys see that last minute goal against atletico? Phenomenal), definitely. At less than 20m, he was best signing for last season. And I'm a Liverpool fan. cool2.gif

Liverpool - Midfield might suffer when Macherano injure after Alonso departure
Chelsea - still as a strong contender, potential problem still lie on Ancelotti
Arsenal - still need to strengthen defense, no doubt Arshavin is man to watch this season

Champions League will be fight between La Liga and BPL team

Manchester United will not win the EPL this season.
Manchester City will not break top 4 this season.
Chelsea Will need some more decent signing to be true contender for the title.
Liverpool will win the EPL,if Alonso and Mascherano somehow did not leave.
Lyon will win Ligue 1 france by a big margin.
Inter Milan will somehow win the Serie A title, after close battle with Juvents.
Real Madrid will not win anything this season, despite they made big signings.
Barcelona will still win the Primera División,after close battle with Real Madrid.
Some club from England will win the UEFA Champions League, while some clubs from Spain will win the 1st Europa League.
Owen will be the best signing of the season, while Ronaldo and any player bought by Man City will be the worst signing of the season.
Tevez will start complain and complain and complain again and again after a series of defeats by Man city, demanding a move from City at the end of the season.
Barcelona will not win the World Club Cup.

This is only prediction,so don't be mad. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Man Utd will not win the league this season. (4 in a row is really beyond my wildest fantasy) Will start hoping for no 19 in the 10/11 season

We will not face Real Madrid in the UCL.

We will reach the final of UCL.

I'd say that Owen got injured in the midst of the first few games. Rafa to sneakily nab Villa or Silva just before the transfer window close. Just my wishful thinking =)

Jimenez to be one of the best signing too!

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Aug 4 2009, 01:46 PM)
Manchester United related:
1) Berbatov will be United Player of the Season
2) Rooney will be played on the left at least ONCE during the course of the season
3) van der Sar will stay for ONE more season after Sir Alex discovers Ben Foster is Saha II and PIG is crap
4) United will sign one more player.
5) Michael Owen will notch up + 10 league goals
6) Commentators will mention how much we miss Ronaldo and Tevez after failing to score in a high profile match.
7) United will win a domestic cup with kids.
8) Michael Owen will be boo-ed at Anfield
9) Giggs and Neville will sign ANOTHER contract extension while Scholes joins Oldham.

General football related:
1) Marca will 'reveal' that Madrid teammates are frustrated at Ronaldo's selfishness
2) Arsenal will finish above Liverpool *(if Alonso does leave)
3) Newcastle sacks another manager
4) Carlos Tevez will sit on the bench at least 7 games throughout the course of the league season
5) Michael Owen will get called up by England National Team
6) England will get knocked out by penalties.
7) Both United and Madrid do not make it pass the semi finals of Champions League
8) Inter to face Barca at the finals of the Champions League.
9) Quieroz gets the sack.
10) Manchester City finishes below Everton
11) One ex-Tottenham player will rejoin Tottenham.
12) The England National Team will include at least 2 players who have less than 10 caps (possibly Welbeck and Wilshere or Foster)
13) Almunia will openly reveal that he wouldn't mind playing for England....again.
14) One player will reveal how he rejected City's approaches.

bias. anyone who sees this would know that u're die hard united fan who hates liverpool bcz u like united.
Berbatov can never be the player of the season unless he scores 4 goals in a game like last time he did in tottenham.
Arsenal finish above Liverpool? they sell Adebayor, they sell Eboue and still they bought nothing. they should have been grateful if they finishes above everton.
Although i'm Pool fan, i don't think pool can win the title this season unless they can find someone who can replace Xabi.

With current situation, i think the top 6 in order will be Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, City.

Does it matter to you how we judge our own player for OUR OWN awards?

Certainly even a player from any other club were to score 1000000goals every match, he still WONT STAND A CHANCE to win that said award.. pffft

Man, not Chelsea and Liverpool again... It is like watching a repeat match over and over again. I rather MU plays RM and then RM to play against Liverpool in UCL finals biggrin.gif It will be fun to see how MU go against CR and Liverpool to go against Alonso / Arbeloa (assuming that they get to play and not sidelined).

Please read before making any accusations.

1) As mentioned, I said Berbatov will win United Player of the Season which is a Manchester United award.
2) I do believe Arsenal will finish above Liverpool. Yes, they sold Adebayor, Toure and Eboue and I think they won't miss Adebayor that much at all with a fit and healthy Eduardo, van Persie and Vela who looks like a cracking player. I may be optimistic but Ramsey and Wilshere have looked brilliant so far and could have something to say about the league standings. Vermaelen I know little about but when fit, their first team defense look decent

Sagna-Song*-Gallas-Clichy

*Vermaelen will surely start ahead of Song though it seems tongue.gif

No la, its Liverpool trashing United , 4-0, 8-0 (half time , full time scores ) at the 'barn' ebeu. Gerard get knighted after that.
After the game at RM suite, a certain apoplectic red nose manager throw a fit ( I mean a fist) at a certain one dog & pony (you know the dancing prancing twinkle toes) show for bolting the horse manu barn.

is just a prediction thread, why so serious about it, u can just laugh in front of the screen after reading his predictions to ease your anger

oh ya, don't underestimate Arsenal even through they sold Adebayor and Toure, their main weakness is defensive, if Wenger solve it in this season, they will be a scary team wink.gif

1. Manchester United will have a slow start at the early stage of BPL, at the bottom 3 in the first 4 games, collecting 3 points out of possible 12.
2. People will taunt, tease and laugh looking at the position of Man utd initially.
3. In the end, man utd will at least finish top 3.

Like tat's reli ur own award... United does not equal to u... United player of the year will most probably belongs to Rooney... Berbatov have a long way to go, althou i admit that he's good...

I donno what r u trying to arise... I'm commenting on a person's biasness... not about rivalry between two clubs... Again, THIS IS NOT UR OWN AWARD.

MAN UTD IS MAN UTD, YOU IS YOU, YOU'LL NEVER BE MAN UTD.

AND WE'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.

And don't there exist a rule where predictions are not allowed in this subforum?

On the on-going disagreement; these sort of threads don't mean anything especially when there is no basis for the predictions, more so if it's from the heart, not the mind.

Firstly I'll start with some things I got right & wrong last season;

Right
1) Hull City would finish no higher than mid-table despite an impressive start. They would falter and run out of adrenaline when the cup competitions began because they simply don't have the squad depth, nor the luxury to 'throw' games away as they need the money.
2) Man Utd will win the league even though they had a slow start to the season. Same thing happened the year before.
3) Fernando Torres would prove that he wasn't a flash in the pan and in fact, show us all that he's suited for the Premiership.

Wrong
1) Liverpool would not contest the league.
2) Djibril Cisse was an underdog for the Golden Boot Award.
3) Xabi Alonso would not leave Liverpool in the post season.
4) Lucas would come good.

Well that's just what I can remember. As for this season...

1) Mark Hughes will not finish the season and manager of Man City.
2) Arsenal will fall drop out of the top four especially if they lose Cesc Fabregas.
3) Jose Mourinho makes a shocking return to the Premiership as manager of Man City?!?!?!
4) Liverpool finishing the season empty handed again.

We'd be hearing "Oh yes, they do miss then incisiveness and creativity of Alonso" whenever Liverpool draws, from the same commentators that asked "Does Liverpool really need two defensive midfielders in a game like this?" last season.

Strong rumours going round that he's being 'offered' or shopped around?.

QUOTE
Vidic isn't injured, he is in fact in the process of being sold to either AC Milan or Barcelona for £55 million and that is the reason he has been withdrawn "injured" for two weeks. He has caved in to pressure from his missus and although United have offered to up his salary by £30K he has said no. He is apparently due to be sold as soon as we secure his replacement, an as yet unnamed 6'4 Dutch centre half...

It gets worse...

We were 60 days from administration, £60 million of the £80 million we got for Ronnie has gone on the debt, up to 15000 ST holders haven't renewed and although there is a 20,000 waiting list, very few have taken up the offer of an ST. Fergie has been given the job of releasing assets for top price (Vidic, Ronaldo etc) and to win the league using youth players and/or cheap acquisitions and United are in the process of massive cost cutting to pay off sums we currently can't afford. He is also being pressured to buy players on the cheap now and sell at profit in the coming years for the forseeable future to service the repayments on the debt.

Barca main target is Jonny Evans. A good replacement for Marquez or Puyol. A good tandem linkup with Pique.

By 'offering' Vidic (at a premium price) Man U is probably shaking the grass to smoke out the snakes. Just like CR7 sale. The rest of the above rumour remains to be confirmed.
My prediction is Vidic will be gone if not pre it will be post season. Man U will profit from his (£7m cost from Spartak) sale.

It will quell the financial rumours if United make some mega signings (like Ribery, Villa or Agüero) to show money is not a problem. whistling.gif

I am thinking that:

*Wolves will strike to the top of mid-table range and avoid relegation, especially if Kightly gets better soon.
*Hull City to lose their spot in BPL and relegated with Phil Brown 'resigned'.
*Arsenal to prove critics wrong and finish either top or second in league cup, despite having none of 'les invincibles'.
*Newcastle to be ditched further and farther back IF Ashley continue to hold on to the club like a pig (that he is).

simple. firstly, liverpool struggle on 7 draws on home, but not away. so ur word makes no sense. as for berbatov, the team rotate abt rooney now. everyone wif enough intelligence knows tat he'll crown mu player of the yr after the departure of ronaldo. and i don think berbatov who's reluctatant to run will have any chance of taking the award away from rooney. don b bias towards my opinions jz bcz i'm from pool. put down ur arrogance and learn what i'm trying to say. I'll say both MU and Lpool wont get the title this season, wif pool a close third behind MU. I guess that all Mu fans cant put down of their pride isn't it? bias. anyone who sees this would know that u're die hard united fan who hates liverpool bcz u like united.

Failed. Marca has been very supportive of Ronaldo (until it almost gets sickening). Ironically the player that has been accused of selfishness is Higuain.

Madrid will get thumped ONCE.

Spot on. By of all teams a little known club called Alcorcon in the Copa Del Rey.

Here was my less than extensive list.

QUOTE
1) Mark Hughes will not finish the season as manager of Man City.
2) Arsenal will fall drop out of the top four especially if they lose Cesc Fabregas.
3) Jose Mourinho makes a shocking return to the Premiership as manager of Man City?!?!?!
4) Liverpool finishing the season empty handed again.

1) He didn't even last half the season did he?
2) Reckon I got this wrong but they've just lost Fabregas so who know? smile.gif
3) It was a stretch. Maybe next season.
4) Spot on so far. Only the Euro Cup to play for now.
