No. You have to be a member of the community first. Just making money out of the forum is not being an important part of the community. We want you to contribute in other areas as well, so you become known to more people.

That was an Elite member who was given the tag for reasons unknown to myself. Rest assured we will not repeat that mistake.

However, Elite members are not "Safe Traders", just as "Safe Traders" are not Elite members. Just because someone is an Elite, VIP, Mod, Staff, Admin doesn't make them any less 'safe' then someone else.

Keep track of all your trades in the future. Lelong history is no use in Lowyat.NET, we are concerned about our own community, not Lelong's.

Yes fair enough but you have to understand our predicament that until you become a prominent enough member of the community, there is no way we can give you a safe trader tag.

This goes to people who go all out there and post non-useful material just to reach the supposed 500 threshold and then come and apply here - its not going to work. Granting the tag means you have contributed a certain amount to the knowledge base here, its not a matter of 'getting 500 posts'. I will not hesitate to give the tag to someone with 400 very good posts. There is no set criteria, just a loose band for us to work within and plenty of discretion - which is why there are only 3 people authorised to grant the tag.

Number of posts means nothing. Nowhere did I state there's a minimum number of posts needed to be Safe Trader. Its number of trades which matter, and also your 'prominence' in the community.

Supporting references, guys. Its in the first post. If you've been a member for just 2 months or have an ongoing dispute, its unlikely you will get it.
