QUOTE(furiouz_spidey @ Oct 2 2009, 08:58 AM) mcm pee je i tgk?? ermm, just a bit worry... so i need to give her time to adapt kan? ur glider,is it male?? coz if it is male,i think,it's the penis.. i think, mayb senior can give explanation coz i heard that many people have misunderstand that it's a worm.. but actually,it is not.. i take this from the 1st page... Q. What is that pink worm thing coming out of my sugar gliders anus?? A. This is a males penis. The penis is pinkish in color, and is considered to be bifurcated. This means it is divided in two, but it is actually 2 separate shafts. New owners often mistake the penis for worms, or intestines. The penis is quite long, but is most often retracted . You may at times see your male with it out, cleaning it, and even showing it off. Added on October 2, 2009, 8:59 amwanna ask,do u guys know dates(kurma) dat muslims like 2 eat in fasting month??? can gliders eat it??? Added on October 2, 2009, 9:01 am normal la.... gliders are marsupial.. they active on night... u need 2 leave it for 2-3 days first so that it can adopt the new environment..... its normal.. so,dun worry k.. give some time 2 ur glider first k |

QUOTE(SugarCoatedCandy @ Oct 2 2009, 10:21 AM) @tednet - leave your glider alone for 2 days yea.. let it get use to the new surroundings. Just put food for your glider for 2 days.. less handling. After that try the bonding process SSC, thank for the info.... taking half day today, so worried cant work properly, need to see her @elite - yes that his bifurcated penis. Its very2 long lol.. its could stretch to like the size of your palm. @Furiouz - kurma or dates can give to gliders no problem.. just make sure it isnt treated with any sugar or what.. so just the kurma itself - not processed. |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Oct 2 2009, 11:53 PM) Yes, climbing around and jumping in a new cage is normal. thank you for the explanation... i bought the pouch from pet shack on Friday and put in her cage, when i wake up she was sleeping in there If your glider has never been inside a pouch before at its previous home, then it would not know what a pouch is and would look for any dark place to hide because it is instinct for sugar gliders to hide during the day. When a glider is not accustom and used to waking up during the day time, it will act paniky in a new place and would try all means to find a place to hide. Because in the wild, day time is where predators would attack them, so they would hide to avoid predators and danger. Coz your glider is afraid, normally a sugar glider would not eat its 1st meal at its new home. And they try to eat at night when we are not staring at them. This is for new gliders lah coz once they are used not used to new environment, their mind only tells them 1 thing, hide. Let her get used to her new home first lah. Escaping is normal coz again, she is new, she is going into a panic stage now. Let her calm down, leave her in her new cage for 2 days untouched by you. Just observe her. Once she calms down, then move on to your bonding process. That's a glider's penis. Some people think its a worm or some kinda deformity hahaha... but that is just the tip. I have seen my males fully exposed, 2 penises and they are 2 inch long, waving like tentacles when trying to mate. Biting the sleeping pouch is normal.... from the inside, it's chewing. I'm not sure what causes this action coz all my gliders do it and my sleeping pouches never last. I constantly buy new ones every few months and make my own. Panic session.... did you scream and jerk your finger away? If you did, that scared your glider. You see, joeys are fragile. They may be small, but their tiny brains can remember things. So if you did that when they nip you, they panic, and your reaction made them remember. So to avoid getting themselves shocked again, they are just trying to keep away from you. But don't worry, they will calm down with time and if you keep doing the bonding like how you did during day 1, you will earn back their trust. They are like little kids, they learn to trust people. If something scares them, the trust is broken so you need to regain back their trust. Don't give up. She is barking coz she wants to know where are you. It is normal. Gliders communicate through barking. It doesn't mean lonely, she just wants to communicate. My gliders bark at night all the time and they are not lonely. Did she make the joey cry? How is she doing so far? That is very obvious. Nocturnal. Night animals of course would be active when lights are off. They would stone if they feel unsafe or hide away. |

hi tedned the first week are the toughfuss day for suggie and the owner coz both are adjusting to each other slowly with TLC ur suggie will gain more trust on u untill they can stick on u like glue lol some suggie are easy on bonding and some take longer just go step by step. well do more research on suggie behavior dun think they realy go "gila meroyan" like ur friends say lol to reduce pouch protective on ur suggie u can put another pouch in the cage and keep swapping and washing it 1 at a time so slowly will get used to a new scent pouch. usually i will wash the dirty pouch after 1-2 day i put in the new 1 lol try patting and talking solfly to ur suggie offten too will speed up the bonding proses Added on October 4, 2009, 8:53 pm Added on October 4, 2009, 6:35 pmSugarCoatedCandy, I just bought a cage from petshack today n it has many 'cannot lock' doors. I don't want my suggies running all over the place when I am at school, any ideas bout that prob?
u can used a cabletie an tied the small door down or used round ring tat used to hold up paper - u can buy tat ring from book store
i think she is the type of aggressive and garang one i have same cage selling at pet shack and i use cable tie to lock other door... left one to give her food and stuff.. |

QUOTE(SugarCoatedCandy @ Oct 6 2009, 09:47 PM) Seems like the seller dint handle it much.. thats why it became a bit wild. Maybe you can post pics of your glider. Btw i click the photo at that thread.. the glider doesn't look really healthy malnutritioned?? if what u say its true and me and the seller need to talk Is still too early to give up on bonding no im not giving up bonding... normally when she asleep i take the whole pouch and put it near me Added on October 7, 2009, 1:09 am QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Oct 6 2009, 09:52 PM) It takes a while to get used to the noise. Barking, jumping, stuff going king kang. It's normal. You can lessen the noise a bit by using cable ties, tie up all the lose pieces that would make noise. You can put a piece of fleece as the covering for the floor of the cage, when your glider jumps on it, at least the fleece can absorb the impact and make less noise. Use a bit of creativity. im not sure about the supplier, but he said that the breeder say i need at least 2 week before she start accept people. then its depents on the glider chracteristic as well right? Gliders mate very fast when they are bonded with each other and also when the female is ready to mate. They can breed every 4 months sometimes or even earlier, depending on how fast the female is ready for mating. That's why you better neuter right after a joey OOP coz once a joey OOP, the gliders got possibility to mate again. Or best neuter before any joey OOP. They bark is not cause hungry. Gliders bark to communicate. It wants to talk to you and see you. That is normal. Coz gliders pee and poo while they climb trees. So while running in the wheel, they do it too. You make the tent comfortable. Place the tent in an air cond room so you won't be too warm inside. Then you sit inside with things to do like reading or just sit inside the tend with your glider. Best would be you just sit inside with only your glider and nothing else first. Let him explore you. Do some touching and handfeeding if possible. As he grows accustom to you, then you can start doing your own things inside while he is inside the tent with you. But never leave him alone in a tent without supervision. I used to bring to college. But now I'm working and no pets allowed coz I deal with food. It depends on your work place too, whether you are allowed or not. They don't make much noise once bonded and familiar, but new gliders may crab and make noises when they feel sudden movement or new noise. You should bring them in a bonding pouch. Then have a water bottle on hand and some treats just incase your glider would wanna munch on something. It is best to have a small carrier cage with you, say you can place it in your car so when you are going home, you can safely let your glider relax a bit in the cage if it is wide awake. Or get an explorium or flexarium. So much easier and less bulky. You just bought her? Coz this seller, may be getting from supplier and suppliers never tame their joeys. They just snatch them away from their mom or parents and just sell straight. Also, timid joeys will be a bit difficult to handle, they take extra gentle but firm bonding. Do this. Carry your bonding pouch with her for about 8 hours a day. At the same time, you handle her when she is inside the pouch. Meaning, touch her from the outside. If she crab, let it be. The more you do, the more she will get used to it and the more she will accept your touching. Then, handfeed often. When you hand feed, use your other hand to touch your glider. Pat it, stroke it, talk to it. Then do tent bonding as well. It will teach her to accept your presence. Offer your hand every time. I also often teach people to do hand training. Meaning let the joey keep walking on your hands back and forth. Even if it climbs to your neck or shoulder, offer your hand and let it keep climbing on your hands till she is used to it. Added on October 7, 2009, 1:13 am QUOTE(jianshen @ Oct 6 2009, 11:33 PM) its depend on ur suggies actually, my i give 2 meals a day.. 1 meal with HPW, treats is a different stories..This post has been edited by tednet: Oct 7 2009, 01:13 AM |

QUOTE(eric138 @ Oct 13 2009, 01:52 PM) Try to explore your glider appetite by trying other variety.. A lot hpw user found that their glider prefers hpw much more than fruits and vege.. so far only a few of fruits dats she love... and i cant make any smoothie cause i got no blender You can try serving hpw at morning, vege fruits at nite... Or make fruit vege smoothie so your glider cant choose what he/she likes to eat.. |
