hi all,
i have a question... my sugies are still afraid of me though they have been home for almost a month. they dont crab as often but they always hide in their pouch or the wodent wheel...
i tried to scoop them out but they seem to be afraid of me and i can feel their tiny body is shaking, hence i leave them alone. should i give them more time to adjust/bond with me?

QUOTE(lilmissmuppet @ Sep 9 2009, 11:07 AM) Eric said, we have to carry them a lot.. my male, meeko took a month and a half to adjust n bond with me.. try to give them treat as often..=)

hi eric.... i'll be patient they are getting closer to me daily and i love to see their cute innocent face am asking cause am afraid i'm doing something wrong that makes them afraid of me i guess when they stop crabbing at me...it is a good sign? btw, i heard them bark this morning...so cute. Added on September 9, 2009, 2:22 pmi read about the stupid vet on The Star papers (page N47). he is really a jerk! what kind of lame excuse he has given in order to molest the sg owner... poor sg, died shortly after returning home This post has been edited by babydaisy: Sep 9 2009, 02:22 PM

hi all is it advisable to let 2 gliders out to play at night when they are still not very bonded with you? i got bitten by my glider last weekend till i bleed they are fine at first when they are outside but all of a sudden they got "panic" and start to jump to me! crawling all over me aggressively and i, myself got panic but i brave myself to caught them and ended up being bitten once on my finger... sigh.... i guess it is a bad idea to play with them at night when they are not really bonded with you? when they are back to the cage..they seem to be at shock and so do i as i never expected them to bite me till i bleed. they have bitten me before but it was not painful at all... shall i leave them alone and cont patting them inside the cage/pouch till they are really bonded with me?

QUOTE(kelvin_faye @ Sep 14 2009, 09:30 AM) Jumping back at you is actually a good sign. Coz they feel safe with u. U shudnt try to catch them, as u might startled them, hence they go bite u. They recognise ur smell, that's y jump to u..

hi glidermama thanks for your compliment... i suspect the one who bite me was the brave one, Daisy (female) ... ha ha ha.... your little girl is very brave to grab your SG! lol... now i really have fear when they start to become active and use their hands to grab the spoon (yoghurt) or apple (i usually hand feed them) ... i hope i can overcome this fear soon QUOTE(glidermama @ Sep 14 2009, 11:12 AM) baby daisy your glider is sooooo comel...and quite brave that will stand outside to nibble like that. mine would only stick his nose out and lick from the pouch..too scared to come out too far in case my lil girl sees it and grabs him..sigh...

that's what happened to me last weekend... LOL. i know it's really scary! anyway i tried other matter than the shirt way... i quickly put their sleeping pouch near to them and they quickly crawled back in... phew. i guess they felt scare outside the cage and feel safe when they are back to the pouch. QUOTE(Lawrence93 @ Sep 15 2009, 08:00 PM) okay i tried to touch it 30 minutes ago , when taking it out while it was resting in his house is the easy part and i touched and cuddle its head for almost 5 minutes , and i think he felt calm at the moment then he came out from the house and then it started to afriad and peeping everywhere ! i tried to hold it back to its house but ended up it jumping to me while crabbing ! its like a nightmare ! scary! and at last i moved it back home with a Glove!

my SGs used to sleep in their feeding bowl before i got them a sleeping pouch. at first i was wondering how to train them to sleep in the pouch but to my suprise...they actually go in themselves..haha. i noticed they love pouches, when they are sleeping and i want to transfer them to the bonding pouch... all i need to do is put both opening of the pouches together and they will slowly crawl into the bonding pouch..hehe. so cute This post has been edited by babydaisy: Sep 24 2009, 10:52 AM

hi all... i noticed yterday that one of my SGs was sort of bitting the sleeping pouch.. is this normal? also they used to be ok when i try to hold them but after the panic session (brought them out to play and me got bitten on finger, they got frighten) now they are like afraid of me. when i try to pat their heads with my finger they will sort of trying to get away from my finger.... one good thing is they still remain silent, no crabbing at all. am actually quite sad and demotivate when they all of a sudden like keeping a distance from me i thought we were doing fine with the bonding process.... try to hand feed her and pat her while she is busy eating. my baby daisy used to be very fierce too but after some time she becomes friendlier. bear in mind bonding takes time... your SG only with you for 5 days.. mine took few weeks in order for them to stop crabbing at me. SG will be sleeping in the afternoon till it's their feeding time which will be late evening or night time mine usually sleeps around 7-8am till 9-10pm. QUOTE(takanori @ Oct 8 2009, 08:47 AM) my glider is already 5 days with me.. but she always hide inside the pouch or when i turn off my light only she come out...and when i put the food tray below she dont eat... only i put the tray near her pouch only she eat... n i didnt see her drink any water at all... she very fierce.. like i touch the pouch or accidently wake her she will make crabing sound... normally 9-5 i work... and she will stay at home..what glider normally do? Added on October 8, 2009, 8:47 ami mean afternoon what glider normally do?

hi all
i noticed that for the past 2 days there are some ants around the cage of my SGs. i have checked..they are wandering around the cage where got some small pieces of dried apple (my SGs love to "sprinkle" their food during night time) i clean that every morning and seems to have no problem for the past 2 months.
i wonder what can keep ants away? the funny thing is there is none in the cage. i'm so afraid they will bite my SGs one day!

where can i get the ant powder? can i put them there permantly to avoid anymore ants? i have only SGs at home. QUOTE(eric138 @ Oct 12 2009, 10:26 AM) Hahaha.. i encountered this problem too lately because i jus moved to a new unit. I use ant powder at the corner of my room, and some places that ants always gather... after 2 days...then clean the whole room, make sure u clean properly, if any of ur pets ingest the powder will cause death. So far i haven see any ants yet.... You can try putting vaseline/oil on the 4legs of ur cage... or put 4 bowl of water... But i found that this method isn't work very well....

i think i'll try the cornstarch first since i got it at home and i think it's safer too if really effective to kill those ants. eric: how much is the germisep pellet? am currently using the SuperPet Clean Cage Deodorizer 16oz from Petshack to deodorise and disinfect the cage but i find it pretty pricey to use on long term. QUOTE(jolenelarhhs @ Oct 12 2009, 02:07 PM) Try this.. Put cornstarch around the area where u see the ants. Then the ants would carry the cornstarch back to their nest and eat it. Then, because they could not digest corn starch they would die. (: I've never tried this method, but i heard of it from an email and im planning to try it later (: Urm.. can gliders digest corn starch? Just wondering if it might be safer than those ant powder..
