i gt a few questions. How many meal worms are given to the gliders a day? how much is the monthly cost to maintain these guys? Are the ready made salads like the ones you get at the supermarket ok to give to the gliders? Where can i get the essential glider's vitamin supplements? Is it true young sugar glider from about 8-12 weeks old need horizontal bar cages instead of vertical cause the vertical ones can harm them? And, lastly is it recommended to  squeeze a glider as i read an article saying that it reminds them of the pouch thus relaxing them?

If someone could answer any of these questions it would be much appreciated
*
depending on what are u feeding ur glider i would say
if on fruits n mealworms only..then u will need more mealworms..
but if u put HPW then i think should give less as there's quite a lot of protein in it, not too sure bout this as i'm not using HPW

monthly cost....also depends on ur diet
n if u buy toys for them, n vet visit....
for me, cost me like RM10 per gldier a month
my rough estimation

ready made salad ar?
dun think they will eat all of the vege though...

supplements, can buy online, can bt from shop, can make urself
google it n u will know
i make BML myself
can buy HPW, it's already available in malaysia
can buy gliderslurp or smoothie...
ur choice

vertical n horizontal bar?
not really an issue, but of course horizontal would make their climb easier
won't cause harm

SQUEEZE?
i think the word is not correct..
more like 'cupping'?

i also thought it was cupping tat time when some1 said squeezing them would make them more relax.. he gave the web also.. and it said is squeezing nt cupping..
this is the web..

*
Well probably they meant squeeze lightly?
lol!
imagine u squeeze them like how u squeeze toothpaste..
sure die k?
lol!
firm but not hard would be alright

i also heard about the bars...i read tat it will disfigure the hands and legs if they use verticle bar..someone please clarify this...it makes sense in a way
*
Disfigure?
haven't seen any disfigurement in any of my gliders
n some of them have been in vertical bars for the last 3 years or so
it's more on their gripping, cos vertical bars are harder to grip compared to horizontal bars due to gravitational force
with proper diet, they would have no problem holding on to the bars

this post may seems a little bit unappropriated here. But after all the research i done, i realize that sugar glider require more care and love then i can offer. Thus now i decide to get a pair of guinea pig instead of sugar glider. This may seems like a betrayer, but i do have some question that i desperately need some answer.

Last time when i planning to get a sugar glider, pet shop like pets wonderland seems like an unappropriated place for buying pet. Wondering anyone have the experience of buying guinea pig from place like pets wonderland? or any other recommend pet shop?

Appreciate any of your help in advance. I realize this is a tread for sugar glider, but i can't help myself for posting my question here, becoz this is the mosty active tread in pet section i have seen. Hopefully i can get my answer here
*
No worries bout offending anyone here
i believe most ppl here would be proud of u, to do reasearch n consider first before even purchasing
it's all good cos u haven't bought one yet..
it would be worse if u have bought one n telling us all here that u r giving up on the poor glider
so kudos to u! rclxms.gif

make sure u do the same researh for guinea pigs as well
sorry, can't advise u on GP
i've never kept one before

Dear All SG owner,

I am consider very and indeed TERRIBLY new to SG. do you mind if i join your forum as a member?

I just got my 2 months old (according to the seller) SG 2 days ago. Lots to learn from and have been reading the SG BIBLE (hahaha) for the pass 2 days.

This forum really informative and i get lots of information through here like VETS and etc.

However, there are something that i would like to ask here, hope you guys and gals dont mind to provide some advice to this newcomer here.

1. my glider can take solid food from the day i got it. i have been giving them pear and red apple at this time. I read somewhere mention i need to blend the fruits and vegetable (is it any vegetable or a few particular, such as?) together with Honey, apple juice and warm water, then put it in the freeze. The question is:
a) Honey: any honey that is sold in the market
b) Apple juice: fresh like marigold or blend with actual fruit
c) what kind of protein that i need to mix with this?
d) do i still need to add vits since this already has fruit?
e) i also read somewhere mentioned about blending the food together with HAM (and particular)

2. i feel like i have been con to buy a small glass cage, really small, trust me. but its my fault for not checking out the info earlier before i buy it.

that's all for now, looking forward for some advice.

hehehe, may try to get the second SG later, pity her, so lonely in the cage.

Thanks.

Firstly, i would like to welcome u onboard
Secondly, i would like to congratulate u for getting ur glider! rclxms.gif
Would be great if u can take some pictures to show off ur glider to us
hehehe

Q1: No need to blend all the fruits...u can do it if u want, that way u can mix the vege that they dun really like to eat in the mixture
...dun simply trust all that u read, HAM is a NO NO
can google on how to make BML, or u can buy Gliderslurp, or smoothie, or HPW
ur choice on what to supplement ur glider

Q2: Glass cage?
NONONO!
that will kill them!, ok i lied..but it's not suitable....
they need big cage for them to play..

Hi folks,

Y not use the hard boiled egg instead?
i dun really recommend processed food..
we dunno what they add in there..
n even if the description says it's good, how much can we trust?
better be safe than sorry

i dun prefer frozen food....
it makes the food slimy....
eeeww!

can mix the supplement n fruits together
but if u do it like how the video did..
then ur glider will be in a mess cos they have to touch the mixture to get the fruits..
so the hands will kena all the mixture...
i personally won't do it this way./..

I'll put 2 separate bowls...

but i dunno what's that fry food that they gave in that video...

Does any1 know where, how and how much time is needed to get the documents for traveling with your sugar gliders? and does the glider get quarantined at the following country? If they do get quarantine, how long?
*
Forgive me if i sound rude, but i think your questions are irrelevant here
if you want to import lues/albino/mosiac, i think u should just call up Perhilitan n check
further more, u dun even own a glider....

anyway, this is not the first time somebody asked about this
u can check the previous thread if u wanna know more

if u r asking about travelling from mainland to sabah or sarawak i can understand...
but this is...out of place

so my advise is...call Perhilitan n check
non of us here travels overseas with our gliders
