Took a while for me to read.. but i will have to agree that some cant be applied to glider owners here in our country. For example, i still think a 2ft high cage isnt the minimum.. Even a 3ft cage is very crummy and yet they say its ok to fit 2 gliders.
About the part where it isnt good for newbies, i suggest they do read it. Coz it makes you prepared of the worst things to come. I have read before in GC where a girl did not dare to play with her gliders coz they are bitey.. and by not playing.. you just make the glider wilder. |

QUOTE(sillyAsh @ Sep 10 2009, 11:52 PM) Its not just males.. females can mutilate as well. When they are stressed out about something, maybe a death of a cagemate.. of neglected by the owner. Depression... Sometimes it also starts because of them being bored, and it just continues.. Oh and if they are injured, they will start chewing.. if not stopped will end up with self mutilation. Usually after neutering or any surgery that the glider has gone thru. |

QUOTE(loritanah @ Sep 11 2009, 10:23 AM) one question here.. Coprophagia - They eat their own feces. While this is normal in some species of animals and insects, it is not for sugar gliders!one suggie owner told me her glider eat it own poo... ......yeah , she saw it herself..glider eating their poo... is it normal? Lori your friend's glider might be in depression or stress.. This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Sep 11 2009, 10:44 AM |

QUOTE(sillyAsh @ Sep 11 2009, 11:30 AM) so its cause by being lonely n not by their temperament of wanting to mate??? will neutering help to calm them down their urge then now?? Its not that they want to mate.. its more like stress... which means from anything that is causing them stress.. lonely coz owner never spend time with them, bored.. bad environment/ habitat. They are social animals they can die of loneliness. Thats why those with single gliders are encouraged to spend more time with them.how much would u say more playtime?? toys helps?? Edit - Ops Eric already replied LOL.. same time reply XD QUOTE(Cacarots @ Sep 11 2009, 11:47 AM) Update Time... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Prince Cacarot... Thanks a lot.. Well for the HPW diet.. Bugsy brand of HPW will last approximately 4 months for 1 glider. Not sure of other brands... And that whole bottle will be consumed 100% if you buying the one where you have to mix yourself. Not sure for Instant HPW coz i dont use Instant.. maybe can ask eric that

QUOTE(jolenelarhhs @ Sep 14 2009, 07:08 PM) hehe.. just few days ago i bought the hpw starter kit n the honey. Then the instruction say 375g honey. The honey bottle says 500g honey. So i pour it into the measuring cup but the whole bottle only reached 350g o.0 lol.. The recipe calls for 1½ cups honey.. dont go by grams. If you pour out that whole bottle of honey and scrape it clean properly into a measuring cup (cooking one) its ngam2.This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Sep 14 2009, 07:39 PM |

Sorry to say but i think your glider looks mal-nutritioned =x Also correct me if i am wrong.. this image here : http://img87.imageshack.us/i/16092009427.jpg/ the legs are looking as if it has signs of Hind leg paralysis. Sry for being paranoid and rude.. dont' mean to be.. its 2am in the morning and i still cant sleep lol! Oh.. those threads in the bonding pouch isnt good, their nails can get stuck ^^ try to make it neater so that no threads are sticking out. |

Maybe get to the vet and check her weight and health.. Or maybe if you already have a weight scale, you can tell us her weight now? I know sometimes obese gliders tend to be lazier than the usual gliders.

QUOTE(roadtomadrid @ Sep 17 2009, 03:34 PM) hey..good article there...thanks tho.. Actually yes... that is quite obesed for a female glider... anyway, may now weight 140g..is that too heavy and can be considered obese? i might consider adding few new toys though..may is like that, wherever you put her, she will stay there..or she will find darker place to sorok..except on makan time..she's the first to arrive..she run really fast when its come to food... |

QUOTE(roadtomadrid @ Sep 17 2009, 04:00 PM) huh?really? aiyoooo..must cut down her food intake then..what are the suitable weight for female glider ya? my other suggies weight around 90g.. You identified the reason already~ but i'm not sure how to cut the food intake...both of them stay in same cage..and i put same amount of food in 2 bowls..even if she have her favorite bowl, if its finish, she will go to my other suggies bowl.. i can't separate them as they will get restless and stress..any other idea? how about stop giving cricket to them? i never give mealies..but i give them cricket as treats at least once every 2-3 days..is it too much? Added on September 17, 2009, 4:07 pm QUOTE(furiouz_spidey @ Sep 17 2009, 04:06 PM) can anyone tell me exactly the amount of water needed for the instant HPW.. QUOTE(roadtomadrid @ Sep 17 2009, 04:36 PM) hahahaha..i notice that since she's young already...she's a big eater..it's just only lately she become so lazy..she's kind of glider that didn't really picky when it come to foods..she eat all type of fruits and vege..and most of the time, she always polish off her food..only my other suggies a bit picky with food... Well HPW make sure she only gets her 1 and a half teaspoon serving per day, "never more.. and never less". Don't go overboard altho she loves it.. same goes for fruits and veges. 1 Tablespoon of fruits and 1 Tablespoon of veges per glider.. I suggest when eating time, you take one by one out to let them eat. Since you say your girl will finish the other bowl also their diet pretty standard..hpw+fruits+veggies..occasionally yogurt drops as treats ( i hardly give this, even me found it too sweet..so i give maybe 1-2 drop every 1 or 2 weeks..cricket that i gutload, once every 2 or 3 days...i didn't give mealies, its smelly and i found cricket is better.. Please take away the cucumber... cucumber is like giving paper for it to eat.. no nutrition.. just water contents. Watermelon can cause watery poo. Apple is just too normal. Get more nutritious fruits. Fruits change variety as they get bored easily. Please take out the wheel asap.. as said by jitshiong and lori.. those can hurt their backs.. and their tails can sangkut.. I would recommend taking out that house thingy also.. altho he can play in it.. but once it become protective its not gonna come out so easy. You cant even put your hands in to take him out. Also cage pls change asap too.
Put a cloth above the cage too like jitshiong said.. make it dark for him.. for 2 days or so dont kacau the fella, just feed.. Give him time to adjust. This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Sep 18 2009, 12:10 PM |
