I think that a lot of these "New World Order" theories and conjectures are based on things very real and very sinister.

I've spent a very long time studying history and keeping track of rather mundane "unsolved mysteries" over the years, and the one thing I've discovered is that if there is a gap or some obfuscation or muddling of knowledge of information about what actually occurred, then something indeed did occur. Things do not happen out of a vacuum, and quite often "occam's razor" is used to blatantly cover up plots that have been made and then executed out of the public eye.

Historical records bear witness to an inordinate amount of these secret plots. We may as well accept that this is the natural way of things.

So we look at all of these conspiracy theories. Most appear written by nutcases and lunatics. That's probably the main purpose: for wild theories to supplant the legitimate questions about the gaps in our knowledge.

We now know about a LOT of things that have been kept from the public eye, such as French secret service involvement in supplying Hutu militias with guns and grenades during the Rwandan genocide, the mass deaths of witnesses to the JFK assassination, the CIA assassination of Patrice Lumumba just because he leaned towards the left in order to bring social justice to Africans, etc, just to name a few.

Illuminati? Freemasons? Vatican assassins? All of these may be stories to cover up the true workings of the real corridors of power and the political and economic dynasties that arose in the beginning of the last century.
