For info, kindly update your iPhone OS to 3.0.1.

Apple has responded to the security alert reported about the iPhone being vulnerable by SMS, where a hacker could lock up your iPhone, rending it useless, or even take control over it remotely.

Note: This Update fixes a nasty SMS vulnerability.

Instructions

1. Open iTunes (make sure it's v8.2) and connect your iPhone.
2. Select iPhone under 'Devices' on the left.
3. If you're using Windows: Hold down the 'shift' key, and click on the restore button. If you're using a Mac: Hold down the 'option' key, and click on the restore button.
4. iTunes will pop up with a window which will let you browse for the .ipsw firmware file you want to install.
5. Wait while the OS 3.0.1 firmware is being installed.
