I say Folder not files.

They say is the registry. I try nearly all the registry edit there is to fix it. No luck.

have u tried running a scandisk? right click on the drive in mycomputer on the drive containing that folder. click properties then look for a "check now" button in one of those tabs. it scans your disks for errors and make sures the file system is in tact

This is caused in the registry. The file or folder is not locked.

I think I have mentioned in this forum before about the "new" Vista feature called NTFS reparse points.

There are three types of reparse points:
1. Symbolic links - can be thought of as a shortcut to a file or folder elsewhere in the file system (don't confuse it with Windows shortcut .LNK)
2. Junction points - can only point to a folder (usually on a local folder) The "junction" folder's name can be different from the actual folder.
3. Mount points - is a folder on a disk that points to an entire disk volume

An obvious example in Vista is "C:\Users". Usually all user profiles are stored in "C:\Users", like your profile's "My Documents", "My Music", "My Pictures", etc. This folder is not really a real folder; it is a a junction point to "C:\Document and Settings\" folder. Junction point is a feature of Windows NTFS filesystem and it does not exist in Windows FAT filesystem . Historically, NTFS reparse points follows the same Linux/Unix filesystem design. It is used to redirect a "reparsed" folder to a real folder.

To observe this, try the command prompt from volume C:
CODE

cd c:\
dir /A

You will see <JUNCTION> for "C:\Users" entry with information about its actual absolute folder path.
For symbolic link, you will see <SYMLINKD>

But, this shell information about junction points may be corrupted when using Windows Explorer. Especially true for those folders with junction point type. When you rename/delete an actual folder where a junction points to in "My Documents" in your user profile under "C:\Document and Settings\" instead of from "C:\Users", the junction information that points to the actual folder will be lost from "My Documents" of your profile under "C:\Users" although the "junction" folder is still there. When you want to rename/delete this "junction" folder, you can't do that. Junction usually store an "absolute" path to the actual folder, not a "relative" path.

You will not have this problem for symlink points as they store "relative" paths to the actual folders they point to. Deleting a "soft" symlink in "My Documents" will not destroy the actual folder its point to. If you use "hard" symlink, deleting a hard "symlink" will delete the actual folder it points to.

Running "chkdsk /f" in Windows Vista and Windows 7 will try to correct the reparse points (during Stage 3)

You can use "Junction Link Magic" to resolve a corrupted "junction" folder (please use with caution! Make sure you know what you are doing)

But Now. Yes Now. I try again. IT work. rclxub.gif I wonder why we have to suffer so much with Vista.
