Guys, I'm back with my own Modded Dual Nub PSP icon_rolleyes.gif

If you guys interested in knowing why is it being called Survivor? Read HERE for my story.

Following shown the Work Log of Sound Reactive LEDs Mod and Dual Nub Mod (first in m’sia? idk.. maybe..) done by me, joker_invisible87:-

Items Bought:- Simpsons Full Housing, Razor X, DC Port, Screws Set, White Fat & Slim Nub Cap, 0603 SMD LED etc.

user posted image
Step by step assemble the 2nd Nub, size of the 2nd Nub reduced in order to fit into the psp.

user posted image
DC Port moved to the left side of the psp

Test out the 0603 LED and Circuit for my Sound Reactive LEDs Mod

user posted image
As you guys can see in the photo, that 5 wires were soldered onto the back of connector but there is some melt trace on my connector and the DC socket too. Those are due to my first attempt on soldering wires on the 0.5mm pitch pin and capacitor. I'm been practice solder on 0.5mm pitch pin for a week on some rejected pcb board and i thought would be easier to solder on the 0.5mm pitch pin than the back of the connector but the result prove that i'm wrong, Connector melt=BYE BYE PSP sweat.gif Yet still, i manage to work this out after a few days trial and error.

user posted image
Hole drilled for my 2nd nub and parts that cut off in order for 2nd nub to move freely.

Really big different using 2nd nub to play FPS games, much easier to control the camera view tongue.gif

yup, those LEDs will blink according to the beats. Nope, the LEDs Mod i'm done on my psp always on but On and Off Sound Reactive LEDs Mod can be done using wifi switch, when wifi on LEDs on, wifi off LEDs off, is depends on which way you prefer. I want my psp always blink blink so I didn't solder to the switch.

Guys, i won't offer any modding service since my intention is sharing but if you guys wish to know the procedure to mod especially how to solder onto the connector, which part need to be extremely careful, i'm willing to provide tips and information for you guys.

hakim, i used almost 1 month to complete Dual Nub & SR LEDs Mod, duration period is stated in my first post. The Cost for My Mod:-

Simpson Limited Housing = RM 150
Razor X = $30x2.44 = RM 73
DC Port = $15x2.44 = RM 37
Slim Analog = RM 25
White Fat & Slim Nub Cap = Rm 20
0.20mm Kynar Wire 34 gauge 50m = RM 34
0603 White, Blue, Orange, Red LEDs = RM 0.50x40 = RM 20
2n2222 Transistor = RM 4x2 = RM 8

Total = RM 367

If your Housing & DC Port was not spoilt by SOMEONE, that can be save up. Actual Cost for Dual Nub & SR LEDs Mod:-

Razor X = RM73
Fat or Slim Analog = RM 25
Fat Nub Cap = RM 10
Kynar Wire 4m = RM 2.72
0603 LEDs = RM 0.50x4 = RM 2
2n2222 Transistor = RM 4

Total = RM 116.72

I bought those LEDs, Transistor and Kynar Wire extra for backup purpose.

Lacus, you too slow jor. I think you mod Dual Nub on a PSP Go would be awesome. LOL

Good try on psp Fat. For your knowledge:-

Solder point for psp Fat is on the power board which is separate from the motherboard. Just need to scrap off the solder mask on top of each point to reveal the copper underneath and solder wires on each point.
user posted imageuser posted image

Solder point for PSP Slim is at the ZIF Connector which is on top of the motherboard.
user posted image

So by comparing both Fat and Slim, modding on Fat will definitely be more safer and lesser chance to fail. Moreover, is so much cheaper to replace a spoilt power board than a spoilt mother board laugh.gif

If you guys need the tutorial for Dual Nub Mod on PSP Fat, HERE you go wink.gif

Later on it transform into Bumblebee.. LOL tongue.gif

Guys, thanks for the support. Currently trying to figure out another new mod, not sure will it works or not, still waiting for the parts to arrive.

5zal06, the SR LEDs mod is quite simple, 1/5. The MUST for the mod 1)Basic Soldering Skill 2)PSP Dissasembly. The rest just follow up the tut.
