Hey guys, this evening shortly after finding out about the new bus fares, I emailed RapidKL asking them to improve bus frequency so as to make the fare increase something reasonable.

To my surprise they just emailed me back about an hour ago

My email
QUOTE
Dear RapidKL Management,

With the increase of fares due to the new zonal rates system being
implemented, I would like to request that you increase the frequency
of buses

An example of the horrible infrequency of buses is the U49 bus. As a
frequent passenger, I must say that many times I have waited an hour
and at time over more than an hour for the U49 to arrive at the Pasar
Seni terminal.

The issue is not a lack of buses. At the Bukit Anggerik terminal where
U49 and U46 buses are parked, the drivers will frequently take hour
long breaks especially at night before driving off again on their
route.

This infrequency and lateness is very disappointing and frustrating to
many passengers.

It is hoped that with the new rates that services will be improved so
as to balance the increased burden on passengers.

Sincerely,
Khairul Zikri Kamarulzaman

On the issue of the poor frequency  and unethical attitude of the drivers , we hope you can provide us with more details such as the date and time so that proper investigation can be carryout to check on the grassroots of the problem.  We will also take appropriate measures to bring back the consistency in the bus frequency.

We wish to re-assure that we will continually strive to improve the quality of service that the customer expects from us. We sincerely thank you for the feedback and we hope you will continue to patronize our services.

As I know you guys are mostly unhappy about this, I thought that I'd gather a few of your complains and bunch them into an email for my reply to the email I received. If you want to share your stories for me to write in my email please share in a civilised manner please.

I also encourage you all to write to RapidKL yourselves and spam their emails with complains and demand for better service

would be handy if they put up the timetables at the bus stops.
*
they do state the frequency of buses according to type
for example, utama buses are supposed to arrive every 20 minutes and 30 minutes during certain hours
but sometimes this isnt true for all buses
As in my email, I've waited between 1 to even almost 2 and half hours (I think, it was long ago) for a bus once
Some buses are very frequent though, which is good, but it's sad that it isn't something that's consistent with all the buses

thanks

at least someone do something instead of just talking cock. i use to send emails to KTM komuter about the poor station condition in Kepong. Now after they upgraded the station i am happy. they even infrom on what they planned to do in stages. so not only did i get the reply they even try to inform me on what future plans they have

good job on KTM in that department

now all we need is for KTM to tambah more coaches! Email time again?

I actually hate KTM since it's always delayed whenever I want to get a ride and I avoid it like the plague laugh.gif
KTM to go to another state or even to Singapore isnt that bad though thumbup.gif

Not really reliable...

A bus with GPS system that send signal to the operation centre and the estimate time of arrival will be displayed on bus stops (there is a risk of it being stolen, but these can be avoided by proper design...
*
I saw an ad once on the bus where you could call or sms their operation centre so as to get an estimate of when the buses will arrive
IINM KL Sentral's terminal displays how long before a bus will reach the terminal
Thanks for the reminder thumbup.gif I'll include this in my email since it hasnt been implemented yet and I want to know the progress

oh mai~ my experience with rapidkl has been pretty good so far. Just a little pissed because they are forcing us to use TnG for bus T529 ( trial period till august).

so after this apa macam ? i still can't figure out the zones.

The RM 40 monthly card is bullshit. I only use Rm 20 a month right now. Rm 20 jadi Rm 40. Dah double liao... bodoh ke apa ?
*
forced to use TnG ? thats new
But i do prefer TnG, i always lose my tickets laugh.gif
I'll email them asking about zones since I dont understand that myself

QUOTE(TC_Boy @ Jul 30 2009, 09:30 PM)
30 minutes per bus is too long. 15 minutes please.
*
30 minutes is long yes, but it isnt that bad compared to an hour
some buses are very frequent, like 10-15 minutes each got one bus of the same number (typically Bandar buses, also U40 during certain hours in my experience)

UK buses can be quite slow not bcoz of the traffic, but bcoz they need to layan the passengers.

for example, if u dunno where to go or how to get where u're going, just go to the bus stop and hail a bus. ANY bus. the drivers have the obligation to find out what u need, even if that's not the bus u're boarding for. so imagine those makcik2 british who LOVE to chat, they'd ask lotsa questions!
*
really? thats cool
do UK buses ever get cramped like sardines like buses here though?

unfortunately, yes. and it could be worse sometimes.

u see, UK are not usually air conditioned. even if it's summer. so u get sweaty people cramping up in the buses with their clothes sticking to their skins rubbing against u. and during winter, they wear those thick jackets that were never washed for a couple of years that smells rotten. if u were ever had to take the bus, it's better to wait for the empty ones.

buses do come frequently, though. the busy routes are usually every 3-5 minutes, less busy about 15 minutes, and the absolutely not busy routes normally once every hour.

you wont see any change.

i have mailed them before. they say the same thing like yours. but no action taken. the bus still slow.

you should asked them to increase the frequency instead. if 30minutes, ask them to make it 15 minutes. that way they can get A BIT faster.

better than doing nothing

my friend once complained about a driver who was very rude to an old lady once, and he never saw that driver again lol
