I think all S series worldwide is not Neopdp. It is the G and above that is Neo PDP screens.

I have seen the numbers of the calibrated V series. Its correct that it is the best Panny yet. Few things to note, it still cannot render accurate HD709 colour. In the THX mode Magenta is off, on the other modes Green is off. THX gets the primaries spot on but not the secondaries. The part that is sad is that the black levels are actually only slightly better than the Sammy B850/860. So I believe with the Kuro now dead, Panny will eventually trump the Kuro (maybe in 2011). The bet is on Sammy to get there 1st.

mpyw, the black levels are just about close to the 50" 8G Kuro, it struggles with SD programming. His comments of black crush on the Kuro is inaccurate and have been debated before. I believe it will be close to RM13-15k when it arrives in our shores, very close to the KRP500. Now if they sell the 54/50in at RM10k then it becomes good price, but I doubt it will reach that price in Malaysia. It is one rank lower than their upcoming Z series.

HD Guru keeps refering to G10 series when comparing V10...it seems G10 is also quite a good TV...

when news where on the net that Panny US will release S, G, V & Z as their new plasma range, Panny M'sia confirmed they won't release V & Z series here in M'sia..so now how? will they bring it in? at recently concluded KLIAV, panny's brochures did show the full range, but i suspect the brochure is from US..they just reprinted it here without removing the V& Z series...

is that the case or are they really bringing the V & Z series in? even at RM13k its still cheaper than the 50PY850 when it was released...i think it's worth buying if Kuro is not an option

for me the sammy B850/60 50'' or 58'' should be fine if the selling price here is at RM6,500 and RM10,000 .

the MSRP in US is US$ 3,200 for B860 58'' in May . Hope samsung malaysia could make this model available here by end of the year.

the panny V series is good though , hopefully they bring this one in . by the look of the G series pricing , it would surely be very expensive

The one main problem with the X10 and S10 were the inaccurate primary and secondary colours. There is way to fix this in the user or service menu. Apparently, the G series has THX (this corrects all the primaries and secondaries except Magenta) that is more accurate. The other main problem with the Panny is the gamma is S shaped. This would mean you either see "pop" or lose shadow details or vice versa. The g series is supposed to have a more accurate gamma.

The V series (in the US at least and it does not look like the UK has this option) has more features that allows more accurate calibration.

I think they will bring in the V but I think it will be pretty steep going by the G prices on the 42in. I believe Malaysian G version do not have the THX mode as well. So this makes it lose its primary appeal.

40" for computer monitor is way too big, the latest display card also cannot 100% support 40" the picture will blur a bit.

Both Onkyo and Yamaha are made in Malaysia. Not only for export, but local retail is also from here (black Yamaha receivers only for export though).

I believe many other electronics are made here too, but sad thing is they're only for export, what we get here are all from China.

Yeah, my iPhone 3G and PS3 definitely made in China. I believe my speakers and players as well.

But my Panny plasma is made in Japan. thumbup.gif

Can this problem be solved by performing the calibration?

Below are the test results for S10 and B650. Looks like the Samsung is a better unit.

The Panny can be calibrated for grayscale in the service menu...The Panny is expected not be too good in colour reproduction. The Sammy has a 3D CMS. Also as I explained before the Panny does not do so well with interlaced sources. The greyscale will be "good" after calibration. Colour not much can be done since there are no controls.
