"Anyway for company standpoint, making profit for shareholders is the main priority...."

That is true of course; but don't underestimate the power of the consumer lobby among certain consumer countries. As long as India and China couldn't give a toss - and their consumption continues to increase - then plantation stocks should be fine. brows.gif

Thanks for the google result. Wonder what happen to Celcom 3G. Seems like very hard to do google search or go into google related page like blogspot, etc

Anyway for company standpoint, making profit for shareholders is the main priority, thus, after the 29 years of harvest...it will be developed especially those land in strategic location. Previously I also wonder why people would wanna kill a goose laying golden eggs, but when I asked a senior of mine working as commodity trader in KLK, the reason most palm oil company developed the land is because of fast cash. Palm oil plantation needs about 7 years before we can get the harvest, so what are they going to do with the 7 years of no income? There are other news about EU conspiracy on the palm oil vs soy oil, euro vs SEA, etc, but I presume all those are just theory.

Was asked to join the scheme before, but I ended up din join. Pay 22K for 1 acre of land, then 1st 3 years giving about 7% return (guaranteed), after that follow CPO price. It is like playing pure plantation counters, jz tat you are owning the land
*
You don't own the land - they do. Until it's sold at the end of the scheme.
Very clever idea and I'm sure a lot of people have been suckered into it - but not me. icon_idea.gif

Better than expected Export figures.

Malaysia's June exports down 22.6%

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s June exports of RM45.1bil, which was the highest monthly export value registered this year, was 22.6% down year-on-year, according to the International Trade and Industry Ministry. This was lower than the median forecast of 25% from Bloomberg’s survey of 17 economists.

Imports dropped 20.8% to RM35.99bil while trade surplus stood at RM9.12bil. Total trade declined 21.8% to RM81.09bil in June versus a year ago.

Month-on-month, exports increased 5.1% due to higher manufactured exports such as electrical and electronic (E&E) products, machinery, appliances and parts, while imports rose 9.4%.

The country’s major exports in June included E&E products valued at RM18.59bil or 41.2% of total exports, palm oil worth RM3.65bil or 8.1% and chemicals and chemical products of RM2.8bil or 6.2%.

During the first six months of the year, exports decreased 23.4% to RM250.53bil compared with the same period last year while imports were lower by 26.3% to RM191.3bil.

Not a bad result considering..... rclxms.gif

Remember the tick tock tick tock,

There you go, US ADP employment report worst than expected.
*
Worse by 26,000 to be exact....

For those who like facts:

Washington, August 5 - US companies lost 371,000 jobs in July according to the ADP National Employment Report out today, more than the 345,000 economists were expecting.

The national payroll processing company only estimates private sector jobs, not government jobs. Adding in the roughly 15,000-to-20,000 jobs government tends to create each month, the report suggests total non-farm payrolls (government and private) will fall about 356,000 in July.

This is about half of the 700,000 or so peak job losses seen earlier this year. But as always, the ADP number bears little relationship to the actual government figures. In fact, the average absolute miss between ADP and private nonfarm payrolls since December has been 105,000.

Hope this gives a sense of perspective icon_rolleyes.gif
