Since it's a quiet afternoon, may I ask a question?

Since short-selling is prohibited on the KLSE how did you guys make money during the bear market last year (and the beginning of this?).
To make money during a bear run do you just focus on dividend plays or are there other strategies?

In a note, CIMB Research said it had raised its earnings forecast for Latexx by 20% for financial year ending Dec 2009 (FY09) and some 5% for FY10 and FY11. The earnings upgrade, in turn, led CIMB to increase its fair value for Latexx shares by 5.3% or 13 sen to RM2.56.

“We maintain our outperform recommendation on Latexx, premised on the potential share price trigger of improving quarterly earnings, driven by its high utilisation rates and ongoing expansion,”CIMB said.

I'm thinking of let go some of my OSK (round down to get full lot of OSKVI) to buy Latexx, but I believe OSK can move up much more after they announce the distribution... Anyway, headache...
*
Oh!
That's a point....I should round up or down my OSK so that I don't end up with odd lots of OSKVI..... hmm.gif
Is it 5/33 or something like that??
Do you happen to know the ratio?

Based on current PE ratio (or I say historical PE ratio), I think can move to PE= 20 (benchmark with Topglove). So, the price should be $7.20. No further comment...

If the EU has repealed the anti-dumping duty on imports of iron or steel tube and pipe fittings originating from Malaysia, then other steel counters should benefit as well......not just Pantech. hmm.gif

I agree. I sold NAIM today at 2.41 because it has had a good run in the last week (+14%). It may continue to rise but if there is a pull back tomorrow or Thursday I shall definitely buy it again to go with my HSL which is showing similar gains. brows.gif

Hi David,

Fajar , any chance of getting any projects there ?
One of Fajar's directors ( MD )  comes from Road Builders , a very popular listed  co some years back ( taken private by IJM  )
*
Not sure about that, Sky. Currently I'm holding Fajar, WCT, HSL and MRCB. Just sold Naim (as I mentioned) but looking to buy back in if it drops back.

I am holding Fajar because I think they have a good chance to get the LCCT job or part of it. Also, I think the directors are making significant efforts to increase the visibility and market liquidity of the stock - so it should attract more interest. drool.gif

The plus side is Fajar has 62sen cash/share , seldom see cash in construction company.

500m book order, good for a small cap company.

Wat makes you think construction stocks is a good buy now? Btw, example of construction stocks? Currently I've been playing with Property, Finance, Plantation, ONG, Consumer Products, Utility stocks only
*
Erm....some people think that a large proportion of Mr. Najib's RM67billion stimulus package (over the next two years) is likely to end up in the pockets of the construction companies - particularly those involved in infra-structure works. hmm.gif

i agree with you on plantation, hence the end of year entry point.
*
My problem with Plantation/CPO stocks is:

1. Seasonality - price varies Jan-Jun/Jul-Dec
2. ROSPO certification - this will be a huge issue among consumers
3. Competition from Indonesia (world's biggest producer)
4. Growing lobby in user countries against "unsustainable" CPO
5. Price volatility
6. Unwarranted link with CO price
7. No real future for bio-fuels
8. EU/US anti-CPO legislation

Err.....that's it......... hmm.gif

CPO price.
The other problem with plantation counters is that they do DUMB things - like KLK doing property and owning Crabtree and Evelyn.....
