Many thanks to all for your congrats. I shared my story with the hope that this can become an inspiration to others who are struggling to clear their debt or accumulate wealth. You're reading this from someone who's an average Joe.
zamans98, It took me about 3 years to clear off my 5 figure debt, and accumulate my first 100k. QUOTE(zamans98 @ Aug 6 2009, 10:31 PM) jasontoh, about 3 years.QUOTE(jasontoh @ Aug 6 2009, 10:33 PM) kmarc, thanks for pointing out the error. Must be the excitement. Ahead of my time. QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 6 2009, 10:35 PM) Congratz on your first 100k. Some errors noted. I suppose you mean November 2008? Same age as me. Added on August 6, 2009, 10:53 pmA: By becoming a business owner QUOTE(David_Brent @ Aug 6 2009, 10:51 PM) Well done! There's an old joke...... Q. 'How do you make a small fortune?' A. 'You give a large fortune to a stock-broker' |

LOL, if you read my blog carefully, I've only made 4.9% gain since Nov 2008. Alot of members here make many times more than that.
QUOTE(David_Brent @ Aug 6 2009, 10:55 PM) I am very worried as well..... Thanks for congrats. I'm certain you will achieve your 100k soon. We're DOOMED....all of us........DOOMED, I tell ye!!! Haven't you read before my postings in this forum of myself being goreng-ed by sharks? QUOTE(debbieyss @ Aug 6 2009, 10:59 PM) Congrats~! I started buying stocks last Nov 2008,... at the age of 30.
QUOTE(debbieyss @ Aug 6 2009, 11:42 PM) I think Jason is young, too, at his age as a man. My investment gain is only 4.9%, most of my wealth now is savings from my salary and some side income.Well, simplesmile started investment at young age too, early 30s i guess. Nothing is too late to begin with. There's a will, there's a way. My motto. My income from trading (or speculating) is actually negative. I made losses of about 4k by speculating. QUOTE(claricecmw @ Aug 6 2009, 11:48 PM) 35 months x 50 points rise = 1750 points rise? Is it possible in 3 years?QUOTE(debbieyss @ Aug 7 2009, 12:25 AM) who is the prince charming? Certainly you're not referring to me, right? I'm no big shark. I'm still a ikan bilis.my problem is working hard to accumulate RM175k now i'm just a monkey holding around RM15k I'm also estimating now... Let say 1 month rise average 50 points; if go for 2 contracts, will earned 50 X 50 X 2 = RM5K RM175k / RM5K = 35 months, which is 1 year + I'm still working a way out.... QUOTE(jasontoh @ Aug 7 2009, 12:39 AM) Very true indeed. As one gets older, then should take on less risks. But when I attend free seminars on stock trading, almost 30% of the room is filled with retirees. Well, at least they look like retirees to me.QUOTE(danmooncake @ Aug 7 2009, 12:46 AM) IMO, one cannot just live off trading when you're retire at around 40-50 when you have no monthly income nor even EPF supplements. You cannot predict the market any money in the market, one must be willing to lose it all. Worse still, if you are still supporting your family.. your kids education will double what your parents had paid for yours. When you're in retirement age, this is the time when you actually needs to BACK OFF from trading stocks and pull majority of your assets into safer investments like fixed income deposits, bonds, gold, etc.. Trade or Invest in stocks now.. not when you're much older. Continue to work till max age to get full retirement package or pension (if you're govt servant) like 55-60. Oh well. who cares anyway, right?.. The world economy is going to collapse in two years anyway. |

"Unemployment fell by 267,000 to 14.5 million. The labor force declined by 422,000, which means the jobless rate fell because people dropped out of the work force, not because they got jobs. Employment in the household survey fell by 155,000."
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/job-losse...july-2009-08-07 Amazing isn't it? How Wall St is rallying because people dropped out of work. |

QUOTE(sampool @ Aug 10 2009, 01:18 PM) i dun think market will drop much in oct. market will only crash when many dun believe it will, but seem many ppl are ready for the crash, so it wil not happen or just some minor correction. we are now trading back in year 2005. Talking about election... if Pakatan scores another surprise, will the stock market crash 10% again? If we want to buy shares on the cheap, does that mean we should vote for Pakatan, and hope the next day market crashes? hmmmm....if the election is come at end of 2011 and 1 year b4 we will see the ci above 1500 (i guess) at the end of 2010, which is about 1 year from now. mean at least there is 300 points to jump. my 2 cents. |
