Thanks. I can testify that success is sweeter when you've put in the sacrifices. And you treasure these moments more when you've gone through ups and downs in life.

Congrats, tailou. How long you take to achieve that?

If you are young and starting now, should be able to do that. Don't be like me, so old already, still need some more cash to reach that level

Retire by 35?  blink.gif

Is that a typo?  Do you mean 55?

Frankly speaking even at 55, I find that still young.
People tend to live longer now. Life expectancy can each up to 80 now.
After 55, plan to live on retirement income for another 25 years.

Therefore, investing in equities should be the way to go.

Remember, our value of money diminishes over time.
RM100K today is only about worth RM40K 20 years from now.

35 is enuff lo. At least semi-retire la. My plan is jz to let the money work for me.

To retire at 40 in Malaysia and live a reasonable standard of living till you croak - you will need RM2 million+ IMHO.
That doesn't include expensive divorces, having 8 kids or having a chronic illness BTW. hmm.gif
*
I think if your money can generate money, 1M should be more than enough. Besides, I dun plan to have 8 kids also....max is just 2-3.
And divorces? - Will not happen gua....if really worse case, then 50-50 only.
Chronic illness? rclxub.gif

Definitely.

But i just wonder if how many people are actually going for 50 contracts in one go for Futures

hmm.gif

1 contract = RM3500, 50 contracts need only RM175, 000

Let say 50 contracts, earned 10 points a week, it would be 50 X 10 X 50 = RM25000; 4 weeks will be RM100, 000

which is possible...

hmm.gif

Well, could go the other way also. Then you really need "Prince Charming" to help you out

IMO, one cannot just live off trading when you're retire at around 40-50 when you have no monthly income nor even EPF supplements. You cannot predict the market any money in the market, one must be willing to lose it all.

Worse still, if you are still supporting your family.. your kids education will double what your parents had paid for yours.

When you're in retirement age, this is the time when you actually needs to BACK OFF from trading stocks and pull majority of your assets into safer investments like fixed income deposits, bonds, gold, etc..

Trade or Invest in stocks now.. not when you're much older.
Continue to work till max age to get full retirement package or pension (if you're govt servant) like 55-60.
Oh well. who cares anyway, right?.. The world economy is going to collapse in two years anyway.  brows.gif

If we all think like this, then forever we will be working for others, right? Isn't the purpose of investment is to create passive income for us? And when the passive income > salary, we can forget about working, no?

LOL there ARE a LOT of things to do !
Remember college days ? When you go to class 3hours/day and spend the rest of the day sleeping/sleeping/sleeping/eating/sleep some more/ tongue.gif

Actually, one needs to remember that sometimes retiring only means stopping from office work, having to report to work everyday, 9-5.

One can take up hobbies, make babies (at 40, still can? LOL gerak² 5mins then mengadu sakit pinggang, lol) go on trips, grow trees..
and the list goes on.

As for the money to cover expenses, one can get it from passive income, e.g income derives from having your money work for you.
i.e pensions, dividends, money you got from your kids(bring them to visit families to collect angpows, for example, haha), rental income (if you have property).

Hmm I've always embed this idea of mine, that one day I want to do things at my own pace, whims and fancies, without having to be bullied by my boss,
and not having to apply to get off days and to get scolded for not being in the office, even though I am sick.

I started buying stocks last Nov 2008,... at the age of 30.
My investment gain is only 4.9%, most of my wealth now is savings from my salary and some side income.
My income from trading (or speculating) is actually negative. I made losses of about 4k by speculating.
35 months x 50 points rise = 1750 points rise? Is it possible in 3 years?
Certainly you're not referring to me, right? I'm no big shark. I'm still a ikan bilis.
Very true indeed. As one gets older, then should take on less risks. But when I attend free seminars on stock trading, almost 30% of the room is filled with retirees. Well, at least they look like retirees to me.

Ya, you can't ask a gal to deliver baby at the age of 40, even if yes, that would be at much higher risk than playing warrant!

It can be done, actually.
Besides, making babies at the age of 40 is just consequences, what is more important is the process drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif
