QUOTE(snake1x @ Sep 3 2009, 12:51 PM) Purchased LG 37LH50YR. those WII need any special cable for LG? cos i just bought this LG haven reach yet..200MHZ Trumotion along with 24P cinema mode works very well. Very lifelike and being there feeling. Just make sure that your WDTV is set to 1080p 24P Now in the process of purchasing component connector for my WII and PS2. WII is o.k on the 37LH50YR but PS2 is really bad. As for Astro, I have a 6 year old decoder so stuck with composite connection. Upscaler for the decoder is expensive USD60. |

noob question but how do you upgrade the firmware on the LH50? i've read in some other forums that the latest firmware allows you to play mkv files off the USB input.

tried calling up LG call centre and got passed around to several technicians and ended up with the answer that they can't upgrade the firmware on my LH50 for me and they don't even know how to do it..
anyone out there knows whether its possible to do it on our own? pls let me know, cos if what i read is true means i can play mkv files off the TV and needn't need to buy a media player.. help needed, thanks! |

Guys,
I have bought the LG LH50 3 weeks ago and i am really not happy with it,the 24fps does not work correctly and "jumps" on certain movies. I have contacted LG on this issue and asked them for a firmware update but i feel no one there seems to know what a "firmware" is.Our tv firmware is version 4.04,different from the US and Singapore versions.WE in Malaysia Pay more for this set and get less features while in singapore, their sets play DIVXHD. Please,if anyone know how to update or has an update for this set,let us know Check out LG Singapore This post has been edited by bobby25: Nov 26 2009, 12:04 PM |

Legend is going for a 42" LH50 for RM3190.
Is it worth it? The trumotion is definitely better than the last Philips I bought. Also don't have the backlight problem. The only problem I see is that it is not as crisp as Philip. If only Philip had improved the hd-motion and the backlight issue, I might have kept it. So, any comments on the LG PH50? Any weakness, side effects? I've researched the internet, nothing much said about it so far. Added on November 30, 2009, 10:03 amStill no reviews on LG PH50YR? For such a cheap 200hz lcd, I'm surprised no one has bought it yet. And fear that there is fishiness for such a cheap 200hz lcd. This post has been edited by chinyew: Nov 30 2009, 10:03 AM |

Well, biasalah price of electronics drop pretty fast.
But how's the quality? Does the image seems crisp enough for you? I tested it out with my Asus mini pc - hdmi connection, and it seems very DVD-9 quality like. QUOTE(bobby25 @ Nov 30 2009, 10:21 AM) |

I heard that Legend give cheap prices, but also sometimes give used product..so be careful...
anyway, the LH50 is a basic tv,if you want, please go for the philips 7000 series..the 200 trumotion sucks and the 24fps has issues..and another thing..astro SUCKS big time on this set.. But all the Philips have the judder effect and the auto-dim issue.
If you haven't notice, just concentrate on the Philips and you'll see that it'll auto-dim itself to adapt the bright and dark scene. I called Philips and told them the problem and they were happy to give me a full money refund. I've tested the LH50 with The Wrestler movie. The opening titles of the movie have the text infront and the background panning from behind. In my old Philip the text and background judder like crazy. But in the LH50 the judder seems minimal. There weren't any auto-dimming issue either. I believe there are ways to check with the LG Headquarters whether your set is a new set or not. So for me, this is too good to be true, especially for a knock-out price at RM3190. I'm waiting for a second person opinion of having the LH50 set commenting the pros and cons before i decide of getting it. -chinyew QUOTE(bobby25 @ Nov 30 2009, 12:14 PM) |

I think the auto dim feature is a power saving option for the TV,where the picture goes from dim to bright depending on your lighting..
Anyway,i have turned my 200hz mode to "off",i just cannot stand the juddering effects, If you have decided on this TV,please check also on the warranty, its either 2 years or 2+1.. Please be aware that malaysian sets do not play DIVX-HD,has only 3 hdmi (not 4 as per singapore sets)..you also cannot upgrade the firmware to play MKV files coz its customed to malaysia check out http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0...4721677p,00.htm QUOTE(chinyew @ Nov 30 2009, 01:08 PM) But all the Philips have the judder effect and the auto-dim issue. Nope. The auto-dim is a bug in all Philips TV.
You can research it in the internet. All obsessive and eye sensitive tv watcher in the forum discusses about it. The Philips also realized this, that's why it's a no question ask when I asked for a full-money refund. I'm aware of the warranty and it doesn't matter if it can play MKV or etc. I'll be connecting my LCD through my PC anyway. just worried bout the side effects. -chinyew QUOTE(bobby25 @ Nov 30 2009, 01:22 PM) I think the auto dim feature is a power saving option for the TV,where the picture goes from dim to bright depending on your lighting..
