the s4,1 is a 4,1 system while the r501 is a 5.1 u'll get a real 5.1 surround while the s4.1 is jus a virtual one
the s4.1 has better clarity n tighter bass while the r501 has a boomer bass
u'll enjoy the r501 if u watch lots of movies
but the s4.1 will be better if u listen 2 music too

since u prefer loud and heavy bass sound, than r501 or more likely suits u better.

both are different anyways..

S4.1 Bass not bad also, but its only a 6.5" woofer driver lo, power wise, for sure S4.1 top la,

Hmm.. let say if you want to use it for mucis, i think you can give a try on S4.1, the sattelite and xover is much more better then R501,

FYI, S4.1 is a 5.1 INPUT speaker set wink.gif And its already sold out, do check if some vendor do have some stock left laugh.gif

without changing to subwoofer, u can try out the options below:

1. Change the big capacitor inside the subwoofer to better brand (more important) and/or higher uF.

2. Add sponge to the subwoofer.

3. Subwoofer placement, e.g nearer to the corner of your room wall.
Have a nice try..

thanks for da' suggestion.. i already try the woofer placement near to wall but for me the sound become more worst.. smile.gif

to change the capasitor and to add sponge already in my mind but my problem know is after i open te box..i want to seal it back nicely like original and i donno this is possible or not...that day i go to lwyat plaza to test s2.1mkII and also to fine wether there is a shop for speaker modding but the answer is no..

What sound card you usea? onboard or external?
*
i use onboard sound card coz my creative sound blaster live cant support 6 speaker...i think want to change to audigy 2 and if there got improvement in bass sound then i will keep use this speaker. hmm.gif
