Thanks for the answer.Got headachebecause don't know which one more better since price it's always near. R1900TIII = RM339 and S2.1D = RM3++ (below RM400). Actually i don't like sub S2.1D but just forget about sub since i want the sound more better from my legendary Altec ACS45.1 laugh.gif
*
My ears prefer S2.1D to R1900TIII. The sound produced by S2.1D is more "floating" than R1900TIII. But actually they don't have a fair comparison as S2.1D was connected to a DVD player playing a high bit rate CD, where R1900TIII was connected to PC playing 320kbps mp3. The position of R1900TIII was also not too well placed, this might have reduce the "effect".

I have tested out these speakers at Edifier show room, Lowyat.

Edit: Sorry for the wrong bit rate posted. Amended.

I second this. I'm now playing back some old CDs which have been collecting dust for years.

I think more studies have to be done on the bottle neck of your system before investing in something like cable.

Get a good soundcard shall be the first step. Then check the placement of your speaker. You could Goggle around for this info, there are tons of it smile.gif

Why not? Just plug the headphone transceiver into the source via the amp.

Trust me, S2.1D is worth your every single cent. Although it's not an Audiophile stuff, but's it's damn good as a multimedia speaker.

I have a question, is the digital output carrying 5.1 signal or 2.0 signal?

Totally agree with PowerSlide. My source is just a GC DVD player, and I know the sound is gonna suck if I hook it up via RCA, that's why I hook it up via optical and make use of my S2.1D's DAC.

Why S2.1D priced marginally lower than S4.1, I guess it is due to the built in DAC on S2.1D. If you have a great source or DAC (Zhoulou perhaps?), S4.1 should be a great bargain.

i don think u need something like Zhaolu to beat S2.1D DAC. i heard ppl said tat Audigy 2ZS can od beat S2.1D's DAC. a decent soundcard can already outperform it. but with tat price, i don expect much too.

I was trying to link S4.1 with Zhaolu, not S2.1D. If you don't have a good source, like a GC DVD player, but want to have good sound, external DAC will be the only choice.

Btw, it's not fair to compare S2.1D with Audigy2ZS, it's just like comparing a RM400 Multifunction Inkjet Printer with a RM300 2880dpi Inkjet Printer. Not fair right?

Edifier, is there any Edifier car speaker available? I mean in KL.
I've been searching some value but good speaker to fit in my Myvi, unfortunately those sub RM300 car audio speaker is either classed at very-low-end or bad quality. I've been thinking if it's possible to remove a 4" driver from any Edifier speaker and put it in as car audio speaker. I'm not an electrical engineer, and have no idea on the resistance and wattage calculation, so perhaps someone could enlighthen me smile.gif

I found R1200 to be quite nice, with 4" driver, which will fit as the car front speaker, and the Treble driver unit will act as tweeter. I wonder if I add an amplifier, will the speaker work?

Specifications:

* Power Output: RMS 8W*2 (fo=1khz, THD=10%)
* Signal-to-Noise Ratio : less than 38dBA
* Input Port : stereo RCA Line-in
* Input Impedance: 10K Ohms
* Controller: Volume, Bass
* Bass Unit Impedance: 8 Ohm
* Bass driver unit: 4 inch (diameter 116mm), magnetically shielded
* Trebel Unit Impedent: 4 Ohm
* Treble driver unit: 3/4 inch silk dome, magnetically shielded
* Cabinet Dimension:
Main Cabinet : 140mm(W) x 240mm(H) x 183mm(D) (Including the grill)
* Gross Weight: about 5.8Kg
* Power Requirement:
220V-240V ~ , 50/60Hz
MAX Power Consumption: 30W

When I bought S2.1D, I did compare it with RT1900. I found that the RT1900 lack of some 3D feel. I don't see (yes, hear and you will see) the voice floating in front of me. However, it was not a fair comparison because at that time, the S2.1D was place at the listening room (at the back of Edifier showroom), but the RT1900 was just placed at the counter. Furthermore, the source of S2.1D was a CD but the source of RT1900 was mp3.

I would highly suggest that you test it first before giving out your hard earned cash.
