just asked daijobu.. the 501MKII is bang for buck sure beat all other speakers at the price range right? how about creative speakers? and how much better are the S series like S5.1/5.1M

Ok I have a problem here. Right now I've conencted the S5.1 to the DVD player internal dolby DTS decoder output. The problem is whenever I play music CD on the DVD player, there's no output from the subwoofer channel and hence no bass/little bass at all. So how do you guys think I should get around this problem ? Is there a configuration whereby it will automatically use the front left and right input channel and automatically filters the bass to the subwoofer channel?

music CDs and vcd only have stereo channels, so unless your dvd player can mix the channels you only get 2.0 sounds. and to get 5.1 u need dvd with 5.1 audio. this is not the speaker's problem, its the dvd player. mind to tell the brand and model? |

Also the bass that you hear might come from the front speaker. I don't think they filter off the low frequency component from the front speaker.

mine is Philips 642, it never have sound on back, center, and woofer while playing music cd or vcd.
i actually prefer it cuz the woofer's LFE ruin the feel of the music sometimes. |

Hmm...thinking of buying an Edifier too, need some suggestions and expert opinions. Between the R451 and R501MKII, both are 5.1, and I know the R501 is better...but how much better? Is it worth the extra >RM100? Or in most cases is the difference minimal? From the specs I can't really tell how much better it is. Any opinions are much welcomed, thanks!

the R501 is really worth the extra RM, for starter bigger sub (most ppl like bigger bass) then wireless remote, R451 don't even have remote.. for R501 MKII it also has 2 extra stereo inputs, so you can connect you cd player or mp3 player straight to the speaker.

i went to one store selling all the edifier stuff yesterday and tested the e3100, r401 and x600. in terms of price there's no difference between these three speakers. the main difference is on the subwoofer. bass is the best on x600 following by r401 and e3100. its true indeed that x600 is better among the three but if you go for looks e3100 is cool. x600 is too simple but better than box shaped amp looks on r401. i think i'll get the x600. good quality with affordable price..

i just bought an edifier r501mkII. Still blur with the setup. do i set all the volumes to 9(surround,center,woofer) or leave it? and i would like to know is there a huge difference between R class 5.1 and S class 5.1? what S class model will be more preferable for 5.1?

the volumes should be set to your preference of course, balanced according to what u hear
there should be a huge difference between S class and R highest end is the S5.1 or S5.1m |

cubchai, set around 5-7 at first, let it run at that setting for a week, you don't want to overstress the speaker. After that you can increase the volume to your prefered level.

Also, that noisy air conditioning vent can be heard from 10 miles away The S2000 is definitely worth a look if you are into sound quality. All that needs to be finalized now is the price. That will be the ultimate deciding factor. |

DA2000 is lower end model and DA5000 is higher end. Which one is which one? im not very sure as the pic is posted by Edifier Distributor in China and doesnt explain the spec.. I believe the taller one with 4 control button is DA2000 & i think it dont hv remote control. The DA5000 should be the one which we can see the woofer speaker from in front and it should hv remote control.
From the price tag in China, estimate that DA2000 would be RM 450-500 & DA5000 would be RM 700-750. The exterior match S2000 very well ga? hehe.. then buy DA5000 and use only its woofer lor.. ehh This post has been edited by accs_centre: Jan 8 2005, 12:15 PM |

the DA series looks like a midarange system, something to plug the gap between the S and R series. the sats of the DA speakers looks like that of the R351 tho... so i doubt it'll be a high performance system.

M series is our latest products for Interantional market. it take us abot 3 years for the R&D & survey.
This new series will be focus on sound, look & feature. If u can read mandarin, u will know we already come out our first set wireless surround home thether system which show in CES 2005. This is what our competitor don't have. In order to come out this new series we get alot of expert like Phil Jones & Peter Duminy (http://www.peterduminy.cjb.net/) to helping us. They r using the new develop driver which can cover very wide feq. This driver r better then our old S2.1 or S5.1 driver. Even it is small but powerful.

as i m going to get the s4.1 tomolo,but stil a bit confuse about the setup...so nid some help about the setup...since the rca cable of s4.1 only got 2 colors,red and white...whereas my A2ZS got so many colors...so nid to know which one connect to the front and rear...thx...

@skyliner66, run the THX Setup Console then select 4/4.1 speakers, the system will tell you the connection on the card..
I bought 1 unit R-501 2 days ago, well it really sounds good for movie & even dvd audio also |

Guys...tell me more on R451 & R501...by the way whats the different between MKII?
Which one sond better...R501 is more ex, but the RMS spec almost the same just bigger woofer...is it wise to get R501 over R451? I mean mainly use for gaming only. By the way whats the street price for R451 & R501 & 5.1m.... Is edifier price price fix or up to reseller to decide? I intend to get one at kuching... |

gerald : rms isnt a very good way to determine the quality of a speaker. generally the RMS influnce the speaker's volume, rarely the sound quality. look at the build material and speaker drivers instead. speakers like R451 and R501MKII have tweeters, and sounds better compared to single drivers like the t5900

just using my s4.1 to watch dvd movie...the sound quality reaaly makes me
 ...clarity is damn good... ...it's very diffrent from my altec,jbl and logitech speakers...but the bass is still a bit soft is compare to altec and logi...but still acceptable la... guess i wil not going back to my other set of speakers for quite a while after listening to edifier...haha... |

I did lesten to R501 not mkII, how come the sate sound seems so mix up...not clear...in techno music....the woofer sound quite loose, and worse is the port hole got distortion noice when its in heavy bass music....
But it sound quite nice when they playing the demo game cd, the shooting, glass breaking sound....single sound is good if quite sound together then And worse, only one edifier seller in kuching...sell the r501 for rm429, retail at rm489... |

today just bought my Edifier R401...
but too bad the Edifier showroom didnt open today... >< I test the speaker at MyPC (The Hindu worker damn friendly) X600 not as good as wat i respect (bass powerful but too loose) R401 bass not as powerful as X600 but bass more tight and sound more nice... ^^ |

for r501 the centre satellite, it doesnt have the rubber feet at the base of the speakers. also, the edifier logo is horizontal when the speaker is placed on its side.

the s2000v is actually darn powerful.

Actually...i owned a R1900TIII....quick nice...then I send it to Octave-Electronics near Amcorp Mall to upgrade some of the caps..inside...additional RM125 upgrade ..
Boy..I'm just loving it....more sweeter..and vocal is more resound.... upgrade is worth the investment.... |

hi,i just bought r501mkII this afternoon from low yat .so came back home and fix everything,all settle and try to enjoy my new speaker with relax mode.but when i switch on the power and turn on the switch at the subwoofer oop! nothing!no light from the sub no sound from the speaker nothing at all.so call the shop and they promise to check or change one for me,im happy with that. but im staying in kuala pilah and will go to kl by next week but i cant wait until next week to test my new speaker.so anyone can help me or face this problem before thanks

i cant wait until next week so i went to low yat to exchanged it yesterday.because of my purse have already koyak so i cant afford to buy augigy2 scard only bought s.b.24bits.balik kampung fix every thing and enjoy listening but no sound from center spk and subwoofer not stong enough with the s card .after that i change to realtek system everything is ok.every spk tested with spk configulation and its working.i test with sound card again and again and still the same so i give up.pls any friends can help.thanks(i like the spk sound.WONDERFUL)

Realtek chipsets are easy to configure i think, since the setting are not complicated, be it realtek or VIA Vinyl Audio. if its VIA ENVY, i am not sure, that one seems complicated |

hi guys, got myself an edifier r501. quite impressed
just want to find out if i can connect another audio source. this is what i meant, my speakers are connected to mobo (soundstorm) for 5.1 sound. there is another jack for normal stereo input, can i like connect this to mp3 player, ipod, discman etc? my old altec 45.1 can connect 2 audio source, can i do this with edifier? thank you... |

Can anyone suggest me which sound card to bring out the best of these speakers? besides, analog or digital is better? Actually, AlamakLor had suggested me to get a Emu(too expensive). |

2.0 and 2.1 source is the same
but 2.0 and 2.1 speaker is different what u meant is the chaintech is a very good stereo card. very good for music and on 2.0/2.1 speakers |

hi guys
i'm using a R301. The speaker works fine but i accidentally broke the wire. The wire is connecting the PC and the sub woofer, One end(green) to the PC soundcard slot and the other end diverge into two heads(red and white) to the back of subwoofer. Due to my pc fall down and the green head bend too much until broke into two parts. One side of the head still remain in the soundcard slot and cannot be removed. And since then, the satellite speaker only work on either side but not both.(Depends on i plug the red head into which slot behind the woofer). But it doesnt sound at all if i test on other PC because it's head are too short. so can i know where to get a replacement for the wire? And also the soundcard is onboard one(integrated soundcard). So what should i do since other speaker cannot fully inserted into the slot(remeber there is still one part stuck inside). Other working speaker tested also sounded on either satellite speaker only. Issit ok if i just buy a PCI soundcard to replace it? since the current one is onboard one, so i cannot remove it. Having another one soundcard will them crash with each other? or if i just simply unintall the driver of the current soundcard then it will be fine? pls dun flame if noob question are asked. Help pls...Thanks. |

The Amp will be here very soon, currently still waiting for them 2 design the packaging.
I haven't test it probably coz too much thing 2 do. Just back fr Miri & Brunei & manage 2 test my freind 's spk - RM 60K system - very impressive. |

If you want to shake the very foundations of your home, the R501MKII can do it just fine, but at the expense of clarity. The S4.1 may not piss your neighbours off as much as the R501, but its sound quality is much better.
Seeing as you liked the S2.1, you could go with the S4.1. We have all 3 units at the showroom, so feel free to drop by to give anyone a go. |

anyway...i need a sound card upgrade now as the speaker started to sounds cracking when i move to equalizer... guess it's on-board ciplak realtek sound card |

wow, just found a nice thread!
I LOVE EDIFIER I'm just using edifier R202. satisfy with it.... when play techno song, my room light is shaking! maybe want day will fall down. that day at pc fair in kuching, i recommended edifier to my friend which already targeted Altec Lansing. He changed his mind and say edifeir is BEST! Edifier is really good! cheap but good performance. |

when listening to song,my Rear Left speaker have sound,but after few seconds(probable a minute)got no sound d...then have to off and on the woofer again then only got sound,but after few seconds again,got no sound... anyone knows what happend? |

ah,found out the problem d...its my woofer the plug for Rear Left had something wrong...so i have to bring my woofer only for warranty?

SInce all the satellite working fine then u just need to send in the woofer onli..

if yes, will i get the price better than now?? i'm wish to buy R501mkII for less than RM380, since in Ipoh i need to pay RM430 for that!!! |

how much is your two way petrol from ipoh to KL? if there is nothing specific that you are going to get in the PC fair aside of the speaker, or if you have a choice not to come down to KL for the PC fair, paying a little extra should be fine...

How To Differentiate R501 with r501 MKII???
does the box say it??? some people say..that MKII have the 2 way satelite speaker..thats mean with the small tweeter.. coz mine..i bought for RM490, diffrent box from my fren 1..but still R501 but yet.. all the satelite have 2 way system.. any revision to diffrentiate the r501??? the site not giving me a helping hand though. to add more.. my center speaker is the ventrical 1.(baring.. rather then my fren 1 where all the satelite are standing. owh bot the MKII i know it now.. my fren 1 is the old 1.. ok..the input from the pc 1.is all using the Red n White Sockets.. but MKII, it have its own jack with color coded.. n extra 2 black jack input.
Then.. the center speaker the edifier emblem is baring..hehehe then all the satelite is 2 way speaker.. thats whut i can see from my r501 with my fren r501. |

got my R1900T3...awesome man...with this price...and u are a music lover...just go ahead man...no regret...but must make sure u know how to place it right...and do some configuration on ur sound card...or else u will feel that the bass is abit over...but after the configuration...it's just sound great
