why my map.. still black and white in garmin mobile xt ?
the gps also is not good after update firmware to version v30

I also have problem with Garmin XT after firmware update. Previously I could get a lock to GPS satellite within a couple of mins using just Integrated GPS. Now I could not get any signal (not even a single red bar) after waiting in the open for over 20 mins. However if I enable A-GPS I could get a lock in less than 30 seconds. Although it cost only 10 sen per lock for data usage it adds up. If you do this several times a day the total cost per month is quite substantial. That's why I usually disable A-GPS unless I need to connect urgently. Anybody with such problem? By the way I reinstalled Garmin but no improvement. sad.gif

Somehow my phone now doesnt show notification for new incoming sms...

V30 seem worst than V21 imo. Less free RAM (!), 45-50MB on V21 compared to 40-41MB on V31. Speed improvement gained a bit but not very significant.

*My GPS alone seem non-functioning until i enable AGPS... Time for reformat..
*
Agree with you regarding GPS. I used to run Garmin without enabling A-GPS on V21. Now I need to enable A-GPS and this can be quite costly at 10 sen per lock. Hopefully the signal will improve after a period of usage.

To those intending to update to V30, make sure you backup your data especially contacts and messages. Once you hard-reset your phone after updating, all contacts and messages are gone. Even some of the installed applications will disappear and have to be reinstalled.

I retest my GPS locking quite heavily for the past few days since it suck at locking after upgrading to V3o. After trying to lock several time using Nokia Map and Garmin, the locking speed increased significantly. Now it's capable of locking fast even without AGPS enabled, similar to my previous V21. Now locking less than 2 sec WITHOUT AGPS, if i try to lock within few kilometers from previous locked location.

Either it's learning to lock faster (history of current location?) or the weather (quite hazy these few days..).

If u have problem with your GPS on V30, try to give it a few lock. It MIGHT improved.

I have also been testing GPS locking extensively after updating to V30. My observation is that after using A-GPS to lock and then disabling it I can easily get a lock if I restarted Garmin soon after. However after a few hours the problem surfaces again even at the same location. With V20 I usually get a lock in less than a minute with only Integrated GPS all the time. I don't know whether the hazy sky has anything to do with the difficulty in locking. How I wish I can revert to V21 because the other improvements in V30 are minor.

Just tried another browser for Nokia 5800XM: DigiaWeb v2.02 S60v5 SymbianOS9.x.
It is quite easy to use and finger friendly. thumbup.gif

Is it just me or is it hard to get GPS signal during hazy days?

Same problem with me if only use Integrated GPS (without A-GPS). Could also be due to V30.

With V30 it is impossible (most of the time) to get GPS-locked if only Integrated GPS is used. Locking is quite fast if A-GPS is enabled but the GPS signal is still low compared to V21. Got navigation errors and lost signal on a number of occasions. Anybody know how to downgrade Phone software from V30 to V21? I understand it is not easy and there is danger of bricking the phone.

Seriously, locking faster or not somehow doesnt really relate much to firmware. Its hardware. Its either u get the signal or cant get the signal. I am using without A-GPS and I can lock in 2-3minutes on the road driving.

I have no problem until I upgrade to V30....can lock in less than 2 minutes even when driving. The moment I installed the new firmware the problem arised. I think several forumners also enecounter the same thing. sad.gif

having same problem with u as well. Sometimes inaccurate as well. Always no signal and longer long time

I regretted upgrading to V31 because of this. Uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin twice without any improvement. Some forumners reported no problem.....I wonder how accurate are their observations. Have thought of reformatting card and start afresh but this may be just a waste of time. Perhaps V31 will resolve the problem. sad.gif
