don't mix up garmin nuvi with garmin mobile xt they are both different thing to begin with.
garmin mobile xt is running in symbian os while garmin nuvi is the os itself in the gps. 5800 main function is for call and sms and gps is just an add on. there are so so so many function in 5800 and dont expect it to respond fast like dedicated nuvi which purpose is for GPS only. some ppl who might need to use it everyday might opt for a dedicated gps and for ppl who need it when it is needed, they got for phone with built in gps. best example is ps2 / psp hardware isnt as fast/great as the pc u are using, but to run the emulator of it, u need a hardware 10times of psp/ps2. same concept applies for garmin~ |

QUOTE(elvman @ Aug 4 2009, 08:12 PM) when symbian is out, signing is not required and user can create sis file for installation and hacking was much easier back then, that also caused many problem back then with viruses where ppl extract out content from sis and add other stuff inside like another sis virus or self created icon and program launcher (skull type) and upload it wildy. some ppl install and get infected.thats why after that symbian introduced signing so user wont be able to self create those sis file and even if can create, other ppl wont be able to install into their phone. and that creates a lot of problem and hassle for those ppl to create a virus that infects easily. who on earth wana sign a file with virus and install it to phone? |

QUOTE(guy73 @ Aug 4 2009, 09:50 PM) ok now i know the purpose of signing but does it means the apps after sent for signing are virus free? so far no ppl create malware yet. i have not heard or seen 1 in s60v5 yet. so practically those antivirus is booshit or maybe they are to scan for windows virus worrying it will spread to windows when connected to pc, but who cares anyway, i don trust antivirus at all. i trust myself and have not infected by any sorts of blabla stuff (u name it).so lets say someone created a malware for s60v5 and u dont know and though it is some kind of apps then u signed it and install, there you go... infected. signing is just a process to prevent an installer to be installed into any symbian phone. so usually when ppl upload a software, they ask for screenshot or whatever as proof to avoid downloading, signing and installing a possible malware |
